In PvP, thugs pawnz. And mercenaries get over-owned by them. in PvE, it all boils down to your preference.

As others have stated, mercs have the control, but I can tell you now that thugs do mad single target damage and good AoE. Lots of fire damage as well as lethal and smash.

You also get the coolest powers from several AT's under your control like the AR blaster's Ignite or Fire Tanker's Burn patch, you get breath fire and moltovs like the demolitionists. Super-strength's KO-blow is just great!! and you got Foot stomp, hand-clap, jab, punch, haymaker and good resistances on the Bruiser. Not to mention the mad defense buffs from the Enforcers, who also do the coolest animations when firing the Dual Uzi's (especially Explosive Clips. that just rocks) they also carry AK's when not upgraded. And you can't overlook the awesome matrixy trenchcoats.

If you're playing a MM though, (especially with Bruiser) I would strongly advise using GoTo commands. It solves many annoying problems with pet positions and power-combinations (if you know what I mean?)

I can assure you, the icons and the buffs stack. The overall defence buff does get a high cap though, and the range of the manuevers is very small.

Yes, I know him, yes he uses Moltovs alot. His favourite combo seems to be Moltovs > Burn > Breathe Fire.

I only team up with other thugs masterminds when I play my thugs mastermind.

I play with The Gang VG and was mainly considering maybe having a coalition with your mastermind VG.

Oh and erm, the Shoguns of the Dark VG are four elite radiation debuffers at around lvl 35.

Would be great to make a coalition with Corrosion Rangers and ultimately have more corruptor teams.

Used my respec for leadership powers.. booo!

If a respec-mission team forms, please let me know!

Enforcer's leadership range is relatively short, but still, aint it great? With /FF Pistol's gang tanks.. honest.

Just to add my opinion, if you've ever been on a team with a good Thugs/FF (/Mace) you'd have noticed the tanking.

Enforcers dish out so much damn manuevers (13% all) that once force fields are stacked up, the chances of them actually getting hit by +3's to 4's is very slim!

When the thugs mastermind supergroup (The Gang) team up, with so many super-maneuvers about, every thug pretty much has super-elude! (When in-range of Enforcers)

So.. its worth checking out.
