the only spiders I know of in the continental US that you really ned to be worried about are Brown Recluse, which don't get that big, & Black Widowsand everyone knows what they look like. brown recluse look somewhat like Wolf spiders if memory serves & are jumpers that live in burrows I believe. (I should probably look them up on wikipedia before I stick my foot in my mouth but hey ;P)

Anything the size you describe is not likely one of the two I mentioned & so is nothing to really worry about. Unless you lay down & let it nom on you. That might get you sick. eventually ;P

Emmi, My namesake is a fire/fire/fire blaster and the damage output is phenominal.

Be aware, you WILL get everything's attention unless you have a simply flippin awesome tank on the team so be prepared to faceplant. Alot. Debt will be your friend ;P
