  1. Eh, nevermind, I take back what I said about Ice/Earth. I'm now facing a bunch of Seers all at once and I'm getting my butt kicked and I'm building up XP debt no matter how many times I tried to change my strategy. Some of the Earth requires me to be on "ground-level" and sadly no AoE hold. I may just stick with building either another controller or try to find a different build for dominator, one that I can team up and solo. But thank you all for your advice and helps.

Yeah, Elec/Ice seems interesting, but I sadly don't have enough Paragon points to purchase Electric Control and I'm just temporary VIP (don't know how long I'll have it; it depends on my budget). I'm so far enjoying my Ice/Earth Dom, even though he's only 12.

Even Ice/Elec wouldn't be all bad. Elec Assault just kind of leaves some DPS to be desired.

I've searched around and I've heard about Elec Assault not being so good. So far, I've been playing as Ice/Earth Dom and I just got Slick and it's fun to see the mobs tripping. XD One reason that I'm hesitant to try Electric Control is that I'm only VIP temporary and I don't have Going Rogue expansion so I'm kinda limited on some powersets (Though I bought Controller cause I love it, but that was my early Christmas gift to myself, haha.)

Earth/ doesn't really need psi mastery (stone pet is immune to psi damage/effects already). My vote is earth/ice/psi though ice/earth/psi could work. Electric's benefit is -end and it's all or nothing so if no primary end drain /elec's benefits are diminished.
I see, I didn't know that the -end part of Electric's would be all or nothing. I think I'll look into Ice/Earth/Psi set (since out of the 4 elements, I like water/ice the most, so it works out XD), but I'll also check out Earth/Ice/Psi option too. Hopefully I can find a build example of both sets! Thank you for your advice and help!! ^^
  5. I've been playing with my Ill/Rad Controller (was with Ill/Cold, but rerolled later) and I'm curious about the Dominator since it's kinda like a counterpart of the Controller (at first glance). Anyways, I wanted to make a dual-type elementalist dominator and was wondering if Ice Control/Electric Assault would be a good combo? I saw that the Elec Assault has a summon pet, so that would mean that I could have Jack Frost and Volt Sentry out, right? I've tried looking for a build guide, but I guess it's either a rare set or not a good one? As for APP, I'm liking the Psionic Mastery.

    Edit:

Actually, after looking for other various elemental combinations, I'm also willing to try any of the combinations of Ice, Earth, or Electric (I'm no pyromancer, sorry!). Would any combo sets go well with Psi Mastery?

    Ice/MM/Force

Thanks guys for the responses, but.....how do I view the builds? All I see are scripted coding. I checked on Ice APP and it looks good, but I've already have a Ill/Cold/Cold Controller and I wanted to try out another APP besides Cold. I prefer to stay in hero side as well. I sometimes solo and sometimes duo/trio with my friends and usually one of them plays a "tank-like" role, so I'm usually one not to get attention at first. :P

    Ice/MM/Force

    Hello,

I started an Ice/Mental Blaster a few days ago and I'm enjoying it! I've read that once you get to 35 (or 41), you can choose a APP and I'm liking what Force Mastery is offering. I tried looking for a sample build to get a general idea of what to slot for, but no luck. I'm mainly going PvE with solo and team oriented. I think I'll wait on PvP until I get the hang of the game. But since I couldn't find a build on the forums, I have to ask, would Force be a good choice?

And while I did not build for Defense, I have the Ice Shield mainly because I'm giving Ice Shields to all my teammates, so I should have one too -- and it is a good place for a LotG Rech.

Psi used to be the only way to get mez protection, but now you can get Clarion from your Destiny slot. Personally, I have found that I don't really need mez protection. The main weaknesses of the Psi Pool are that the blast is a bit slower than Ice and Fire, and the AoE attack is DoT when up-front damage is better . . . . and World of Confusion stinks.
Thanks Local_Man, I heard lots of good things with Ice APP, so I'll go with that.

as for primal forces no i have not, however have you also considered patron pool since heroes and villains can get them (little harder for heroes though since they have to switch sides)

the mace mastery pool is fairly good on a troller, you get the defense shield + a very strong single target debuff in addition to your other debuffs, plus if you throw in the 3rd power you get the tarantula pet which with your uber rech to keep perma PA will most likely be able to near perma the spider too
    I prefer to stay as hero, so I won't be able to use any of the patron pool sets. Plus, I'm afraid of spiders. >_<;
  10. Sorry that I haven't replied back. I had to leave for work and now I'm back.

Okay, I decided not to go with Psionic Mastery. Thank you all for your suggestions/advices. However, has anyone tried Primal Force Mastery with Ill/Cold?
  11. Whoa, I didn't expect quick responses this early in the morning (It's past 8AM here)! Thank you guys for responding so quick!

I forgot that Spectral Wounds and Blind deal psi damage and I remember that robots will have high res to psi damage in late game. I remember reading up on the APP section from Local_Man's guide; I'll have to double check. Also, I didn't know you can respec into a different APP. I thought I had to make a build ahead of time cause you cannot respec once you create your character or once you pick one.

I try to stay away from fire since I'm no pyromancer and I'm not fond of playing with fire. I'm more into water (or in most other MMO cases - ice). I've seen a few Ill/Cold/Cold builds and heard it is a good build. However, before I go finalize into that, would Primal Forces Mastery do any good for Ill/Cold? I'm just curious since after reading up on the powers, it look interesting and since Energy Torrent deals knockdown instead of knockback. I know that Local_Man's guide said it has some overlap with Ill/Rad, but I wonder if Ill/Cold would make it a viable choice? (I'm fine with either single or AoE targeting)
  12. Hello!

I am a newbie started playing last month and I really enjoy using illusion control. I've read several guides of different illusion builds, including Local_Man's and Tal_N and others, and I love the combo of Ill/Cold (I've tried Ill/Rad, but I like /Cold more), but I'm wondering if the Psionic Mastery would be a viable APP? I haven't seen any builds/guides specifically for this kind of build set, but with Ill/Cold, what powers in Psionic Mastery would be good to have?

This character is mainly PvE with small teams, but I like to sometimes solo (possibly solo ATs in future) and maybe PvP, but I'm not gonna worry about PvP until I get the hang of playing more. Also, I like having an "Cool Enchanter" roleplay toon that can utilize powers of illusions/mind (hence the combo set), so I hope I can play with this kind of style?
