  1. Having been directed here from the General forum, hre's the votes I cast already, over there:

    [ QUOTE ]

    1. PvP Tutorial/Training Wheels
    2. Make flight more viable in PvP
    3. Lack of meaningful rewards for PvPing
    4. Instanced PvP missions
    5. More variety in Arena matches
    6. Add rewards for participating but losing in fights

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll give the rest of the ideas here a look-see, and maybe add more stuff I like, later.
  2. That's what they're doing, Brad - one token per costume, for each character.

Question: Does this free time count towards veteran time. I know the free days you get from buying the game don't count. So do these?

Because if it doesn't I would rather just send them a personal email to get them back and pay for my time so I can get my goodies sooner.

    Thanks

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does this free time count toward veteran time? The answer is yes.

    Ex

[/ QUOTE ]To further clarify for the person you're responding to here, Ex, yes, the free month that you get from purchasing the game does indeed count towards Veteran Reward time. Not sure where he'd get the idea that it doesn't.

[/ QUOTE ]I "hear" it all the time. I don't know WHY. You'd think after this many months, people would understand how the (rather simple!!) system works, especially after the devs, comm folk, and players have repeatedly explained how it works, but I guess some people are just not listening.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If the free month per game purchase didn't count, I'd be out three months of Vet Rewards time ... that's a whole badge! Instead of having gotten my 24-month badge on October 4th, I'd be getting it on January 4th.

split a FREE 30 days of credit

[/ QUOTE ] What does this mean? Does it mean I get 15 day and he get 15 days spilit down the middle form 30 days or just 30 days for both of us?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You each get 15 days of free time. Which to me doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Doesn't that essentially mean that I'll end up paying 14.99 for half a month down the road??

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No.

Let's say I invited a former COH player back to the game, and he re-activated his account right now - putting himself down for monthly renewal, at $15/month. He pays $15 right away, of course - and normally, his next billing date wold be the 29th of December.

But he gets 15 free days. That means, his billing date is pushed back by 15 days - to January 13th. Then, after that, it's the 13th of the month, every month, from then on out.

Meanwhile, MY billing date is the 4th of the month - December 4th is my next one. THAT gets pushed back by 15 days, too ... and I wouldn't be billed until December 19th. Then again on January 19, February 19, and so on.

    Clear as mud, now?
  5. Top-notch idea, the "split 30 days of credit" thing. I don't have anyone to re-invite back, who'd do so ... but I still think it's a great idea.

However, keep in mind that if you have an alt and haven't logged into it in over 90 days, it won't be showing up anyway until you do log into it. So, you only need to be concerned with characters you have logged into in the last 3 months.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would it be possible to default all characters to have the 90-day rule applied? That would allow people to set their characters' options as they logged in to play them rather than having to remember which characters they played in the last 3 months and logging in to each one of them simply to change the settings.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This would also be an acceptible approach, IMO; at least then, you don't have to pre-emptively close things down, if you prefer not to share one or another sort of information with others.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Hey, JKevinCarrier, did you know you can completely opt out of the system before it goes live?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hey, Creole, did you know osme people have dozens, or even SCORES, of characters ... and to opt out "completely", you have to log into each and every single one?

That's my complaint: no account-wide "set all my characters to 'Not shown', thanks" option. And I consider it a flaw in the plan, even though MOST of my characters will display MOST details happily and unreservedly.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
If there was no way to turn the options off I could see the arguments. It may be an inconvenience to have to turn the option off on every character but you do it once and it's done. It just doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And I don't see why NC can't offer a web-interfaced option to batch-adjust all of your characters, with a single mouse click, to "hide me completely". Then, I can go back in and specifically elect what to reveal, and about who. Most of my characters will have the majority of information displayed ... but not all of them. And I don't want to go through turning off everything for NOW, before reaching the point of deciding "what will I hide and what will I display" after seeing what the web output is like.

    [ QUOTE ]
I wanted to follow up on this announcement to say that I'm sorry it is a tease of what is to come. At this time I don't have more clarification of how these settings will be used.

Also, we understand that the "Enabled/Disabled" option settings are not as intuitive as they could be. For these, and other, settings "Yes/No" options would likely work better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my extremely humble opinion, it would make a lot more sense if you were to replace the four instances of the word "Hide" with the word "Show", and then use the "enabled/disabled" selections that you currently have (with the sense reversed, obviously).

That would make it the most intuitive, at least it would for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Best would be to reword ALL of them, so that the two options can be "HIDE" and "SHOW", exclusively. You don't GET more intuitive than that!

Oh, and, to beat the drum again: global opt-out option per account, please!
  11. [ QUOTE ]
However, I will say this. If they're going to create a web interface where we can see each others characters (something which I seem to recall being discussed back when City of Heroes launched), they ought to be able to put into that interface an option for "Hide all characters from web page" so that people don't have to log in every single character they want to hide and fool with the option.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This would also be a very good alternative.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
actually being able to simply forward spam email to the GM's would be a godsend. having to transcribe the contents of the email into a petition is a bit tedious.

oh.. as for the web stats settings... cool, thanks for pointing them out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes - the Email UI needs a "Report Spammer" button, that auto-petitions (and /ignores) the sender for spamming, attaching a copy of the email to said petition.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

These Web options will soon be used. If you do not wish to have your character’s information be displayed on the World Wide Web, you will want to configure them to be “Enabled.” If you enable “Hide Statistics from Web Page,” none of your information will display. If that option is disabled, then you can configure the next three options: Powers, Badges and Friends List. By default, your Statistics, Powers and Badges will be on, but Friends List will be off.

    [/ QUOTE ]
These options need to be set, ALL of them, to "hide ____: enabled" and/or "display ____: disabled" (as appropriate) by default.

Some people have literally hundreds of characters, and asking them to - at this late date - relog to each one in turn, in order to conceal any information they wish to remain private? That's an unfair burden, IMO. Heck, even just with my 30-ish characters, I think it's an unfair burden; god help those who have two or more accounts to hold all their alts ... and someof us are sufficient altoholics that, yes, we "browse" our alts, playing one for an hour here, a different one for an hur there. So even that 90-day cutoff? Doesn't work, IMO

    ...

Make the default "tell no-one, display nothing". It's just the right thing to do.

Mind you, I'll display most of my details ... but for those that want their privacy ...

For nearly $10 (including shipping) one can get a CoV or a CoH game with one month free. Is 240,000 prestige (12 slots) worth $10 to you?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ooops. If it's just one side of the game, it's only 8 slots and 160,000 prestige.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm....there is no more getting "one side of the game" anymore :-D

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes there is. The "here's the other half" giveaway was ONE TIME ONLY.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. I'm just trying to figure out how to fill an RP only groups roster to 150 before the prestige grant.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Pad with existing members.

Have the existing members make up a series of level 1 throwaway alts on that server - use Trial Account codes if need be. Invite them ALL to the group, pad to 150 - make sure they're named in an obvious "delete me on December 11th" manner. Get your mad influx of Prestige ... then give those throwaways the boot. Everyone then deletes their throwaways, and all is well in RP-land. ^_^
  16. EDIT: nevermind, saw the answer further along. Damn.
  17. The agreement carries forward, sadly, because NCSoft was already a signatory to said agreement (they've ALWAYs owned a large part of the COH franchise - the recent transfer is only a matter of having bought out their partner and co-owner, Cryptic Studios).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: this game is pure is vaporware, and that fact seriously saddens me. While I have decided I dislike Unisystem (Eden's core mechanic/system) .... I woul still have bought the books solely for the background information ... to plug into [u]GURPS:Supers[u] or [u]Mutants & Masterminds[u], if nothing else.

's a damned cryin' shame, it is.

When paying for a character name change, an additional Global ID change should be given with the purchase.

If every player only had one character slot, I would agree with you.

    Agreed.

Now, the option to buy a Global Name Change token by itself would be an idea I could get behind. But as an added freebie? No, sorry, I can't really get behind that.

[...] it all comes downt o one thing for me: bases. One of the most frustrating things in the game has all been creating a base with an awesome meeting chamber, and then having a couple people in the SG who did not have access to it because they did not have COV. So what do you do? Kick them out? Hold the meetings without them? Let the meeting room go to waste? Requiring tha everyone have both games? There really wasn't a great answer.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes; I've got a couple alts in an SG that has twice-weekly meetings (covering two major timezone clusters). For the longest time (pre-I9), we met on the University Campus in Steel Canyon. Post-I9, we moved to Pocket D.

Now, we can move the meet-up part of each day's activities to our own, already-well-furnished base.

    [ QUOTE ]
Now, there is. Now, if you're in a SG, you can enter a base. Period. And I think that's just awesome.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And some non-SG-members can enter too - depending on Team status, and the owning Group's relevant Permissions settings. ^_^

You mean four new slots, right, Ghost? 'cause I still have only the same 12 slots I've had since COV launched ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, the server I saw it on had one slot left(before the awesome COV-ness).

    [/ QUOTE ]
^_^ Side note: I am glad that the server slots are included; otherwise, the opened content might be less than useful, for those who'd already filled up their Home Servers with one side or the other.
  23. The problem is this, Sam: in English ... if you make a broad, sweeping generalisation, but do not provide any sort of provision to the effect of "I don't mean EVERYone" ... then, by default, the presumption is that you do mean everyone.

In this particular case, such a clause might look something like this: "I don't mean anyone who wants a shiny at all, just the people whining about it."

Yes, something that simple changes a statement about "senses of entitlement", and similar, from a broad-based all-inclusive attack ... into a comment that some of those who want "a shiny" are taking their want too far, and should grow a clue.

    ...

When one sticks to the "attack everyone indiscriminately" approach, then one can only blame one's self for the entirely-justified return-fire of those who were caught in the AoE ... but didn't deserve the attack in the first place.
  24. You mean four new slots, right, Ghost? 'cause I still have only the same 12 slots I've had since COV launched ...

Have you been actually reading the posts or just spinning (as you accuse others of) just those parts that support your worldview?

    [/ QUOTE ]
"Because we want to accuse you of being a greedy, self-centered entitlement-obsessed prig" is not a reason.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's fascinating that keeps getting brought up, and somewhow folks who believe they should be recompensed can't actually refute it. Nor do they bother to try.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Recompense - wrong word.

I do not believe that I am in "need" of any "recompense". However, I would like another shiny thing ... and independant of wether I like it, or deserve it, or whatever ...it would be a good marketing and customer-relations move to provide said shiny thing.

    So I will repeat:

"Because we want to accuse you of being a greedy, self-centered entitlement-obsessed prig" is not a reason.

Now, try and come up with a R E A S O N, not an insult or aspersion.
