This build takes a very different approach, more def/res and a lot less recharge.
both approaches are valid (and your is a lot cheaper) but the Plant/Storm combo benefits a lot from +rechg: you want seeds of confusion on every spawn, even when the team is steamrolling, stack your thunderstorms, etc...
If you can afford it, Spell's build is probably best, especially since you'll get some def, resists and healing from the rest of your team.
I hate to be disabled as a controller (I'm supposed to disable you, not the other way around) so I always slot for at least on KB reduction (in superspeed, in tough, in weave, in mist, ... lots of possibilities to pick from ). That's also one reason I care for defense more than some (although at 50 I take clarion and forget about mezzers) -
Quote:I personally like neither.Personally, I'd shift slotting from Spirit Tree to O2 Boost. The tree is alright for prolonged fights, but I've found more use in topping off teammates in a fight or giving them a little boost from the brink with O2. Also, O2 is handy for anyone that has just used an awaken to break the stun and heal them up.
I would have gotten rid of O2 boost and Spirit Tree, ditch maneuvers, take fighting pool, slot Tough with 5 Imperviousskins so you keep your +5% rechg and slot Weave as you have Maneuvers.
This gives you 29% S/L defense (up from 23%) and 20% S/L resistance (up from 0) for the same recharge boost.
Your team no longer benefits from your small Maneuvers boost, but you are personally a little more survivable. Still no hugely, if your controls fail, you're still going to be in trouble.
all a matter of choices.
With regard to completing the sets, you'd get mostly +rhcg, but not sure that extra few % is worth it. -
Focus on recharge: check
Lots of procs: check
damage in pets: check
extra regen for lack of self-heal: check
end-redux and +recovery to deal with horridly expansive pet casts: check
Looks pretty good.
I'd put a Blessing of the zephyr KB protection in superspeed
Get perma Clarion Destiny since you have very little mezz protection against anything you miss.
What alpha are you going for? extra rchg or extra recovery?
You might consider Earth epic if you truly intend to use thunderclap so that it can stack with Fissure, but I suspect you mostly took it for its mule potential.
Consider swapping O2Boost for Recall friend for faster TF stealthing since Mist+SS=invisible and you don't want to spend your time O2 boosting people, especially with a single slot it in. -
(reposting here, accidentally posted in the controller foum originally)
I only go to play a little bit yesterday, I quickly made a Beast/TA and the sewer team I was one had 3 of them (one of them had the same generic female barbarian costume I was using, except for hair color)
Has anyone had a chance to seriously play with it? what are your impressions?
Seems fast paced, I don't know if we can get level boosts yet, haven't looked into it.
For theme reasons /Poison /Dark and /TA are two secondaries that appeal to me (Storm too but I have a few too many stormies).
Without spending more time learning about the set, I don;t know if there are good synergies with any of those.
I like so far though, it's a safe bet I'll be purchasing it. -
lol, oops, I've had controllers on my mind lately...

I played this built most of the afternoon and it's pretty fun even at low levels.
A friend needed help with the "stop the ritual" mission in Croatoa and this was jsut what the doctor ordered, holds, sleeps, slows... with a bit of team buff
My biggest complaint is that mezzers drop my toggles, so I may look at defense, at least until Clarion, but with a build that is both ranged and melee, it may not be easy (I tend to favor positional defense when I go for high defense)
I've looked at a few build discussions in the forums but they are too rich for me, I don't think I want to purple out this character. Even though I don;t intend to solo, I hate doing no damage so I think I will at least put some procs in, but otherwise may frankenslot more than go for set bonuses.
we'll see, so far the combo exceeds my expectations -
Quote:That's how it worked for me. #2 was absolutely not obvious to me, either from character dialog or the wiki. It's another one of those "you get it because you already knew it" thingsAssume you're a hero:
1. Do Ganymede's two-mission arc. To complete the second mission, you'll need a Villain (or Rogue or Loyalist) to click on the box at the end.
2. Find a Villain (or Rogue or Loyalist) who will run Scratch's arc with you as the helper who clicks the final cauldron. This will give you the Badge and unlock DJ Zero.
3. Talk to DJ Zero for Snaptooth missions. The reward table for these missions has the costume unlocks.
4. Talk to Ganymede again and he'll tell you to talk to DJ Zero. DJ Zero will then attune you to Valentine Tips. -
I had to run the lockbox mission (a villain mission) before DJ would give me snaptooth missions.
I have my toga and sandals, but it was rather confusing how to get there. -
I have decide to take two sets i have never been able to like and play then at least to 35 to give them a better chance. Those sets are Elec (not enough damage for my taste) and /time (which I only tried on Corr but could never make work there).
Having played with a few Elec/Time it seems like a decent combo, but having jsut satrted the characetr I don;t have a good sense for how to play it yet. A lot of powers on /Time are PBAoE so should I play a melee controller? it has a bunch of mitigation and at lvl12 that's basically what I'm doing.
This thread is more about asking about my styleplay options rather than for some specific build. Styleplay will drive the type of bonuses I may strive for. I intend to IO this character around lvl32 so that rules out any purples, etc... I think this set will benefit from recharge ? -
from talking to people in game I need to join a villain team doing Scratch's arc
I guess I'm just too dumb to get that from either the in-game dialog or the wiki.
I still don't see where it says you have to get the handsome/beautiful badge to unlock snaptooth -
I'm a hero
Ganymede says (paraphrasing) "Thanks for the help, check with the other side/scratch"
Scratch says (paraphrasing) "not safe to talk, you should be like me"
DJ says (paraphrasing) "haven't seen you much, go dance"
what now? -
you're right it says "stage 2"
I've done the Ganymede missions, I talked to FJ through the confusing dialog, but I'm not getting offers for more missions.
Did I somehow refuse to move on?
so far I find this event not fun, epecially once you get Botched Ritual stacked on you 2 times makes your toon unplayable. -
The wiki says snaptooth is phase2, does that mean you will only be able to get the mission later in the event?
I want the sandals and possibly toga but can't figure out how to get them -
I don't find that trap style very enjoyable, but to each their own.
-
he got to 35 yesterday and just got it but we still do a lot of lower level content and that build needs to stand on its own pre-tramsferance.
-
OK, thanks, we ended up with a fairly straightforward build. trying to let the kid make his own choices, but he did pretty good, I think:

I don't have experience with electric blast but I am trying to help my kid respect his Election/Kin
like most newbies he had trouble slotting his powers and runs out of end pretty often, so he finally accepted my help I'm reworking his build.
It's been a while since I have done SO only buolds (he's Freemium so can't use IO) but my main question was whether the return in endurance is worth counting on with e-blast on a correct, especially without using specialized IO sets. I suspect the answer is no.
I think it's still worth slitting end mod SOs for they foe drain aspect? or should I ignore the Sapper effect altogether and slot for 1-2 acc, 2-3 dmg, 1 end and possibly rchg for most attacks?
I'm familiar with kin so I can help with that. siphon speed eliminates the news for a lot of rchg but compounds the end problem, at least till transferance. -
I have too many stormies. maybe I'll stick with the more passive FF a while longer, because the argument of redraw does make sense. BR feels slow as it is.
-
I've tried BR but can't seem to get into it. I've tried /traps but I feel like it's pairing two slow sets, on a good team, the mobs are gone long before traps+disintegration comes into play.
I'm currently trying BR/FF because of the SciFi theme of that character. At low levels it's pretty boring.
any good synergy between sets that could make me not regret I bought the BR set? -
I've always heard that the rule of thumb has always been to go for typed or positional but not both. On the other hand with S/L you're covering a lot of attacked so I can see how it would make sense.
-
agreed, having to be in melee alot as a controller is no that bad. heck, that's a good place to be as a fire/kin for example.
having to constantly jump in and out can be annoying though. -
That's really why I asked. if I want to 2-slot stamina rather than 3-slot it, I wanted to know if the proc was worth it it not.
I got the info I wanted -
I have been slotting the performance shifter chance for +end in stamina but Mid's doesn't show its effect (that I can tell) so I'm not sure I'm using it it best.
compared to a lvl50 common IO, does it make more diff than the 1st one, 2nd one 3rd one?
i.e. would I be better slotting 2 lvl50 IOs in two slotted stamna, or one lvl50 IO plus the proc?
