Anyone know what the maximum number of characters is that a single bind can contain?

And, I still feel rejected by both of these facts.

Just to the right of my spacebar are 4 buttons:
ALT
Windows (not usable for binds)
APPS (aka Application Menu)
CTRL (aka Control)
APPS is the one with a graphic of a mouse selecting from an application menu. I use it with the others because it's close to them. -
I should point out that when using SHIFT, CTRL and ALT in combination with other keys/buttons, you don't get to designate L or R. (Discovered that problem through experience, and was then informed.) It will still work if you only have one side designated, but only one bind will work if you try both. (ie LALT+G and RALT+G)
Another thing to remember is that you don't have to include the LBUTTON in your bind; you'll have to click it anyway though. For Recall Friend, I recommend not including the LBUTTON, so you can give someone a chance to yell, "Wait!"
Also, to avoid confusion, binding a single button will cause that bind to execute even if you press another button with it. (ie An LALT bind will execute even if you press LALT+G.)
I have a few binds on my D4 that require a location:
SHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Teleport"
APPS "powexec_name Recall Friend$$team I'm teleporting $target to me."
SHIFT+APPS "team Does anyone want to be teleported to here?"
RALT "powexec_name Tar Patch$$local I'm laying down a Tar Patch."
LALT "powexec_name Dark Servant$$local Come forth, Dark Servant." -
Post them in the Guides section, so they don't get wiped.
-
I have a D4, and created bind for the 4 powers I use which require a targeted placement.
LSHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Teleport"
RSHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Tar Patch$$local Laying down Tar Patch."
LALT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Recall Friend$$team I'm recalling $target to me."
RALT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Dark Servant$$local Come forth, Dark Servant."
However, I find that only the Tar Patch and Dark Servant binds get activated. It just doesn't seem to matter whether I use the left or right SHIFT and ALT buttons.
Also, can I bind something to the key with the window icon on it? If so, what is that key called? -
No, no. Always reply. Always tell them that you've only just started, but please hurry because you could use the initial help.
Those that are interested in helping will show up quickly, and thus deserve their reward.
Those that are interested in leeching will wait too long, and thus deserve their lack of reward.

Wow. I'm shocked by the lack of response.
Are there any regular groups out there?
Or, anyone that has an RP alt night?
Yeah, I know that there are a lot of groups out there that RP 100% of the time, but I thought that there might be a group with regular meeting times. -
Are there any role-playing groups out there that have a scheduled (alt) night playing?
I've played table-top RPGs for a long time, and I miss that scheduled group feel. I'm hoping to find a group (or SG) out there that gets together on a weekly basis for role-playing a set group of characters. However, because this is an MMORPG, I'd like to do some full-immersion role-playing. By that, I mean that everyone is role-playing their character in the game, but only while online. I neither enjoy nor have time for role-plying on forums. Likewise, I don't want to be left out of the loop just because I'm not on some forum. (Missing a week is a different matter.) I just want to hook-up with some people that had a scheduled slot, who maybe just used the forum for the occasional OOC and scheduling purposes.
For me, the RP advantage is obvious. With a scheduled alt night, and a lack of forums RP, I know that what happens when I login is a continuation of what happened when I logged out the previous week. Thus, we can pickup right where we left off. If I miss a week, then my character should be missing that time. If I need to catch-up in character, it gets played out in character.
[ QUOTE ][*]"Sorry, Panther Shade, but we resolved that conflict already. Yes, I know that you just saw us fighting this morning...."[*]"You didn't know that Soulknife was a villain now? ((OOC: Read the boards!))"[*]"Did you get that memo on the TPS reports...."
[/ QUOTE ]
As for scheduling, a weekly session means that I have a set group of people with who to team. We'd all be around the same level, and can easily make up a little time if we miss a week here or there. Our characters would also get to know each other and have a chance to work out group dynamics in-game. Also, a set group means that I'm not repeating missions with a character.
[ QUOTE ][*]"Hey, we just arrested Frost Fire. Just now! And how did he get a whole new crew in there while we were walking out the door?!?"[*]"Hugo Redding asked you to rescue the Fortune Teller? Me too! Uh, why is she in two different locations?"
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I understand and appreciate that RPing on the forum is not required for many RP-SGs. (Sorry if that seemed otherwise.) It's just that with so much happening on the forums, I'd feel left out of many things. Besides, I'm personally not a big fan of RPing forums. (Yes, I've tried it more than once.) Describing a scene or telling a story works well, but discourses either take too long, or require too much time. When more than one person is involved, only a coupe people end up posting back and forth. As for RPing fights on forums, the concept <"I grab Minx." ... "No you don't, I dodge that."> just does nothing for me. (Too much one-ups-manship going on.) I'm certainly not knocking it for others, though.
Also, my character wouldn't be privy to most/any of what is posted on the boards. When playing, I sometimes forget what was supposed to be character knowledge and what was just player knowledge. (Maybe it's just me.) Keeping things in-game only lets me not worry about that. So, no one has to say, "Hey! You weren't there when that happened." or "You could make it to the apartment in time for that conversation."
As for random play time and grouping, the RPing loses something for me when I help yet another person complete the same mission. Beyond the immersion factor, it'd also be nice to run around with a group at a scheduled time. I'd know when I logged in that I'd be grouping for the next 4-6 hours. After all, if I'm solo, then I'm not really role-playing. (I personally consider that to be a group activity.)
Yeah, I understand and respect the full-time RP idea, whether it's all characters or a set character. Some people don't care for TeamSpeak because they feel the person's voice doesn't match the character, or don't like Global chat because it's not the character's name. For me, it's the repeated storylines. I don't mind doing them over and over with different characters, or even a non-RP character, but it just bugs me if I do the same mission when I'm trying to RP.
Of course, I totally understand that not everyone can commit to the same night, or even any night for some. But, with so many people online, I hope to find a few people that could schedule one night out of the week, and were interested in a full-immersion RP style. -
That is very sad indeed.
You should have more pics of yourself to share.... -
Okay, now I have a question.
Is there a way to reset your binds with a bind?
Currently, I use a bind to reload my binds through a bind file:
SHIFT+NumpadENTER "bind_load_file c:\keybinds\<filename>.txt"
(This allows me to constantly adjust binds as I go.)
Is there a way to have the binds reset and then load the new bind file?
(Like: SHIFT+NumpadENTER "bind_reset$$bind_load_file c:\keybinds\<filename>.txt") -
[ QUOTE ]
shift+1 "+ $$teamselect 1$$follow$$g $target please stop moving. I'm trying to buff you.$$powexecname deflection shield$$powexecname insulation shield"
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think that will work. That bind won't get to the Insulation Shield. Rather, it will execute Deflection shield each time it's pressed. Putting more than one power into a bind only works if every bind prevous to the last is a toggle.
Try these instead: (It's what I use on mine.)
SHIFT+1 "team_select 1$$tell $target, <bgcolor pink><border black> Hold still for bubbles!"
CTRL+1 "team_select 1$$tell $target, <bgcolor pink><border black> You should be all set"
ALT+1 "team_select 1$$team <bgcolor pink><border black> Starting bubble rotation!"
ALT+8 "team_select 8$$team <bgcolor pink><border black> Everyone's done!"
SHIFT+9 "powexec_name Deflection Shield"
CTRL+9 "powexec_name Insulation Shield"
You'll make a complete set of 1-8 out of the first group. The tells will notify people when you start, and when you finish with them.
The second group lets the entire team know that you're in the process of bubbling everyone. You don't need to make one for each person.
The third group is what you'll use place the bubbles, on whomever you happened to be targetting. (I use ALT+9 for Grant Invisibility.)
Why did I do it this way?
For some reason, when I had the powers execute with the targetting, the shields didn't always cast on my targets the first time. I found that I often had to hit a button twice, sending a second tell. Using the method above, I can tell when a target is selected, and make sure the bubbles are getting to them. -

I work in a fudge factory, and my job is to place the fudge into the boxes as they move along the belt.
I still don't know why it makes my friends laugh when I tell them that I pack fudge for a living.......
[/ QUOTE ]
It's them remebering an old Lucille Ball sketch from the 'I love Lucy' show.
It's one of her most famous bits, and extremely funny.
So, don't be ashamed when they laugh, be proud.
Frequently shout it out, Antaean: "I'm a fudge packer!!"
I'm sure you'll get good responses.... -

Actually, I live in Medford. Shhhh.
Yeah, we should do a Boston thing.
So far, I'm the oldest; more than triple some!
I'd post my pic, but I don't even an avatar.
I fear these new fangled devices....
Outside of CoH, I'm neither a panther nor a shade, but I'm still PantherShade. -

(Further, to promote use of the teammate keystrokes, we are planning on putting small numbers (like the ones in the tray) next to your teammates' icons in the team window.)
[/ QUOTE ]
It would really be nice if we could assign the order to teammates. For example, being able to set the primary tank as position 1 and the healer as position 2 would allow people to create standard binds to target through the tank and run to the healer. -
Fearsome Stare has been fixed, and debuff effects will no longer interrupt the fear effect.
-
If you go into your options, you can reset all your binds.
That's one of the resons to create and load bind files. You can fix the file, reset your binds, and load the updated file.
For individual binds, you could just rebind the key to its default bind. One of the previous posts lists the default binds. You can also create a new toon, save the bind file, and rebind your old toon as needed. -

autorun 1$$up 1
This ensures that autorun and up are both forced on, rather than just toggling them (which would turn one of them off if it was already on).
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? Wow. I never heard of the autorun 1 command. I always just used ++autorun. And, I didn't even know that it turned off.
Thanks! -
First of all, thank you very much for the help and advice.
[ QUOTE ]
You want:
V "++up$$++forward$$powexec_toggleon Super Jump$$local I'm out of here!"
[/ QUOTE ]
I was concerned that turning on Super Jump after the ++up command might result in the first jump being a normal jump.
Would this be the desirable bind for bailing out with Super Jump?
V "++autorun$$++up$$powexec_toggleon Super Jump$$local I'm out of here!" -
Now that Issue 3 is out, we can make changes to the text color and background color in the options section. But, you can't change the border color or transparency there.
Also, I noticed that it doesn't seem to work for keybinds.
] "local I can handle this; you should find other villains to vanquish!"
For example, the above still appears as black text on a white background, no matter how you change your options. Or, is it just me? -
I encountered problems with the following Issue 3 binds:
SPACE "powexec_toggleon Super Jump$$+up"
This caused my toon to repeatedly jump. I couldnt stop it even after I hit the down key.
UP "powexec_toggleon Sprint$$+forward"
This caused my toon to repeatedly run forward. I couldnt stop it even after I hit the back key. I was able to turn off Sprint though.
Does powexec_toggleon Sprint have to come after +forward?
If that's the case, would this combination work for running then?
UP "+forward$$powexec_toggleon Sprint"
DOWN "+backward$$powexec_toggleoff Sprint"
Whould this work for bailing out of trouble?
V "local I'm out of here!$$++up$$++forward$$powexec_toggleon Super Jump" -
Hmm. I've been using bind save.
Try:
/bind_save_file c:\binds\healer.txt
(Note direction of slashes and lack of quotes.)
It will save your binds to the "Bind" folder on "C:\" as a document labled "healer.txt".
I used this months ago to save the basic binds to a file, an it should still work. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, and using '+down$$-down' gives you the functionality without actually making the character move.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless, of course, you're hovering, flying, or just teleported.
Hopefully, that wouldn't matter, though. -
Your bind may be too long, and the load instruction is getting truncated.
Try pasting just the bind in the chat window. If it doesn't all fit, note where it truncates and adjust your bind accordingly.
