  1. I can't wait! This will make PvP even more interesting, since mobility and maneuverability is still an important part of those battles.
  2. Message to AJAX:

Thy warning is a blessing, and thy call answered; the citizens within Steel Canyon shalt be evacuated swiftly in what little time there is before our foes' strike.

  3. I can't wait to get my new computer so I can try these out.

To anyone who purchased the Jetpack Booster, how fast is the jetpack? Hopefully better than the temporary powers with real money involved.
  4. I pick up all of the expansion packs I can, but with the disparity between the male and female costumes I think this is the first time I may wind up passing on it. Don't get me wrong, it's great that female characters have access to all of the wonderful costumes, but I've no interest in playing female characters.

Can we get some quality exclusive costumes for the male heroes in the future? Or take out the exclusivity on female costumes? Coupled with emotes, I'd be willing to pay for that, at least.
  5. Freedom's popular because it was Prime back in beta, Glyde. Virtue's popular because back in beta it was decided by a large percentage of roleplayers to be their home when beta ended. People headed to the populated servers after that.

I certainly didn't expect Virtue to become the heavyweight it is today when I put my characters there; RPing was never all that popular in the other MMORPGs I've tried. But with the roleplaying, you've got people even more heavily invested in their characters than they sometimes should be. So folks are going to get upset.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed starting up my RPing alt on Triumph the other day. The other servers aren't all that bad, Virtue-ites!
  6. As someone else mentioned, can you put this in the game for people to read? Most people don't visit the forums, and it'd good to let them know about this, as well.

Thanks for the work you guys do!
  7. Don't know if we're still working on this or not, but can we suggest an option to allow exemplared characters to run zone missions for zone buff and debuffs?

    WoW vs CoX RP

((Do they have -regen powers in WoW?))
  9. Thanks for letting us know, Light.

Manticore, welcome back. It'll be a pleasure having you working actively in the game again, and just knowing that another signature developer is out there among us is a nice thing to know. I'm looking forward to reading about more of the work that you're doing for CoH; welcome back again.
  10. Here's something that I didn't realize - not sure if it was in the slash command section of the help file, but if it was I wasn't aware of it.

-Typing /localtime in the command window sends you a System message letting you know what time your computer is showing. Useful when you're not near an NPC or don't want to bother with time zone conversions.
  11. These are fantastic! Never really gave buyign a commissioned work much thought, but I've always mentioned that I'd pay for an action figure of my character if Cryptic put out that service.

Looks like I don't have to wait that long, just until next payday. Excellent work, and thanks for putting this service out there.
  12. I'm keeping my hopes up for this. I don't suppose we've ever received a response from a Red Name about Accolades and Exemplars in the past? If so, anyone recall what they've said?

If you're goin to disagree with the premise, you have to provide the reasons because they have not already been presented. Simply posting "No" doesn't do that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I'm just gonna start posting, "I do not like this idea" That should get the point accross. [censored] whiners. I don't owe you, or anybody else and explanation for anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You do if you expect your assertion to have any weight. Whenever I see a "No" post, or a disagreement with no explanation, I ignore the post because it says nothing. Saying you like or dislike something and not providing any explanation is an empty argument.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would I care if any paticular person believes my post holds any weight?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because it's a post in response to an attempt to change the game, you'd want that post to be constructive. Otherwise you're spamming someone's attempt to bring something to the game and not adding anything relevent.

/no and things along those lines aren't constructive, and are unnecessary. If it's so silly that it actually warrants a spiffy dig like /no or other snarky spurns, it's even more impressive to see that post left with no responses whatsoever rather than a flood of inconsequential dissent.
  14. You could always try to make a new character with the name you want?

    Other than that, hrm..

    [ QUOTE ]
Dang, this means I have to activate my 3 other accounts that I am saving names on, just to make sure they arent free'd up for someone else to use?

    3 active accts x $15.00 = $45.00

    3 inactive name saving accts x $15.00 = $45.00

    $45.00 + $45.00 = $90.00 for month of August!!!

Dang, Dev's making me go broke!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    11 US servers x 12 character slots per server x 3 accounts = 396 names.

That is almost 400 names that you're squatting, not counting your active accounts. Why in the world do you need to reserve four hundred names? If you're not going to use those names, give them up to someone who will.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know sarcasm isn't conveyed well through text, but I believe the person you're quoting was being sarcastic, trying to voice some sort of complaint against this pretty mellow measure.

    At least, I'd hope so.
  16. Haha. You rock, Serps.

Gonna go make that Corrupter now. For the Ice graphics.
  17. You play a necromancer mastermind, amIright? "Rise from your grave!"

While I've found that villains tend to have the upper hand a lot more now that a good number of them are also 50 and have little else to do with their characters besides PvP, it's easy for anyone to get frustrated when they're getting clobbered.

Though, regarding slots, those get debuffed even if you're exemplared. Not quite sure if Sirens keeps them at a similar rate in order to preserve the advantage or not, but it was worth mentioning - quite a few times my exemplared enhancements were worth less than the "natural" leveled heroes I've teamed with, though that's a problem with exemplaring more than anything.

    I kinda like religion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh man, now you've done it. Put on your flame retardant clothing, mang.

I mean, the only thing you could've done worse is imply that any view on origins can be taken as a religion and that if you include evolutionary atheistic beliefs in the running tally of the evils of worldviews the scourge of religious intolerance and evil actions increases drastically. Just, thank the flying spaghetti monster you didn't do that, okay?

Haha. I like that quote a lot, but I've no idea where it's from. I may have to start saying that, though.. Sounds like a good lefty/righty flame defuser.

But of couse, States...neocons and theocons are like that.

"We are what we pretend to be, therefore, we need to be careful what we pretend to be" - An opinion asserted as fact and then a moral position based on the opinion asserted as fact. What a complete load of crap.

That sounds just like "Dad's against D&D" to me. Same people, just back in 1988. Notice only 25% of America supports George Bush now. Guess What? THAT IS THESE VERY FOLKS RIGHT HERE pounding out this drivel.

Showing Joe "Self-Censore yourself...OR WE WILL" Lieberman means instant discredibility in my book. Or in other words, "Do what we think is right or we will make you do what we think is right" Lieberman is evil and capricious and has no integrity. He's just as dishonest as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell.

It's all about the domination politics. Undermine free will and people will stop standing up for themselves. If they stop standing up for themselves...then no one complains about warrantless wiretapping, lack of habeus corpus, signing statements, torture, using Jesus to justify bigotry and hatred against gays, minorities, women, and anyone that doesn't fit in "the plantation" plan.

It's also the reason all the Gingrichian neocon republicans got their butts tossed out of power in Congress in November of 2006. To use Stateman's iconic image as a tool for neocon oppression is downright dishonest and disengenuos.

It's also the same argument that "Adult Videos increase assaults on the opposite sex..." garbage argument. The video had no facts only assertions and vague inuendos and all flash and no substance. But that is what rightwingers do, they have no argument, all they have is whining and harping: they are harpies and ghouls. Reaganites don't buy this crap...morons do.

I reject the entire argument and the entire video and EVERY LAST ONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT STAND BEHIND THIS KINDA DISHONEST MEDIA. I'm not buying and the neocons can shove it up their aperature.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Good Lord..

Are you a plant for the vast right wing conspiracy/Neo Cons/Christian Oppressors posting here to supress free speech by getting the thread locked?

    ...I mean, wow. Just.. wow.

Haha. Yeah, you've got a point. Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of what you have when you have it rather than when you're fighting to preserve it.

As if that would work. It seems to me that, in general, the publics impression of Video games is tainted the same way the gaming communities view of a PVPer is tainted. It doesnt matter if their are exceptions or if it is even the majority. It is the few bad games/players who warrant its removal.

The gaming community is much smaller yet we can't come to some sort of reasonable understanding about that. How are we supposed to alter the perception America has on video games? Insanity is insanity anywhere. You can't reason with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm getting dangerously close to expressing my opinion on this issue, so I'm going to let a cliche do it for me.

"It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."

If you underestimate the value of a single person with the drive to do something great, well, I don't know what to tell you. Except that somehow America did manage to win its independence way back when it took on the superpowers of the day. I think that's inspiring enough to show that anything's possible in this country, y'know?

The one thing that gets me frustrated, though, is seeing outrage and frustration become impotent rather than productive. Issues like these, where it comes to culture, are more about willpower than they are about financing or numbers.

I imagine you've still some way to petition your government.

And if you're not too keen on supressing opposing opinion through federal and state intervention, you could always put forth the same time, effort and manpower the creators of the video displayed in order to make something countering it's claims. Productivity! With the kind of outrage each of these threads produce every time they pop up, I'm sure something impressive can come out of it.

    Quick reply here, but..

Does anyone here NOT think that this is silly? I mean, we're on a video game board for a game that wasn't put forth in a positive light in the clip. You guys can vent all you want, but if you want to actually do something about it your frustrations are better spent elsewhere.
