Alright. I'll admit it. I was wrong. Not at a base level, mind you. But uh...yeah. 25%. So my apologies for the misinformation.

Quote:Depends on the lieutenant. I'll have to go back and check the numbers again later, but I am relatively certain that short of the pure damage dealers such as necro and Ninja, that you should be outdamaging them. At the very least higher level merc ends up at just above the commando in so far as flat out damage, though the mastermind passive buff pop them above you. That is in a same-attack situation, mind, slug for slug, burst for burst, M30 for M30.Only if your boss level minion is one of the support types. MM personal attacks are slightly more effective than a tier 1 minion. The attacks are nice to have, but taking them may not be worth a power slot depending on your secondary. The sets where the attacks have good secondary effects (Demons and Beasts) are an exception.

Quote:Here's the thing, I DO like playing the support role. Even in games where the support role is *do nothing* but heal, but if I'm going to do that I want to play a character who's better at it than MMs (particularly given their endurance penalty).
I've tried a great many combinations for MMs. I just can't seem to be bothered to like them.
I've tried Merc/Traps, Thug/Traps, Thug/Pain, Thug/Poison, Necro/Poison, Necro/Dark, Demon/Thermal, Demon/Pain and Beast/Time. Some of them more than once.
I don't like feeling secondary to my own pets. I've never felt that way about any Controller/Dom/etc combination I've ever played, but I can't help but feel that way about every single Mastermind.
Really I'm okay with there being Archetypes that I don't like to play. I'm sure there are archetypes I love to play that other people can't stand.
Then yeah, its just not for you. The focus of the mastermind isn't the mastermind themselves, its the minions. If you don't like playing second fiddle to your army then like you said, its not your cup of tea. But you do have Dominators and Controllers, as you said. As long as something works for you, thats all that matters. -
You guys do realize that you get attack powers, right? And unless you are ramping up the difficulty, you've got some leeway in between supporting your army, right? And your attack powers will be around on par with your boss level minion? Just thought I'd check.
That being said...if you don't like playing a support role, you won't like playing a mastermind. You're either going to be buffing, debuffing, and healing them, or resummoning and rebuffing them when they die a lot. So either way you play it, you'll end up in a support role at least part of the time. But I still find plenty of time to lay down attacks on all of my masterminds, so its not like I am never doing damage. Course, your mileage may vary. *Shrugs* -
Quote:Unfortunately that is not a problem with just CoH. Any MMO that involves pets will invariably see the majority of players playing said class effectively ignoring their pet and either letting it do whatever, or just having it on passive. Though with CoH you have to take into considering that sometimes the bugs are going to slap you in the face. That won't excuse everyone mind, but I know I can't be the only one to sit there hammering "Heel/passive" only to have my minions ignore me, or almost more annoying, run back to me, just to run back to whatever they were doing before. If I could get dollars for seeing MM pets running amok I'd be a millionaire by now. I can't count the number of times I've seen MMs with worse control over their pets than I have with my Fire Imps.
MM players who actually know what they're doing with their pets can be awesome - sadly I don't really see too many good examples of that. -
Quote:I'd say DP/Devices with the fighting power pool tossed in for flavor for Black Widow. It's funny, the GF & I kinda had a similar chat while waiting for a friend to meet us to see the Film last Saturday.
Shell head is dead on.
With Thor, yes you could try and work a electrical type in, but for general use, I'd go Inv/WM as well.
Hulk is dead on for a Brute as well. The GF wondered why not a Tank. I mentioned that the Brute suits the Hulk's nature better.
Black Widow could go a couple of ways: DP/Dev Blaster, MA/Nin Stalker, MA/SR Scrapper. Personally, I'd go Stalker and pick up Pistol Temps.
Hawkeye would go Arch/TA Corr, personally.
I'd say Cap is dead on as well.
Thank you for the time... -
I do. I have one of every mastermind on at least 32, and several mercs across the level ranges. They are without a doubt my favorite AT.
-
Merc/nature. Just cause. Maybe Beast/nature. Necro/Nature amused me as well, I picture the plants and stuff just growing off the zombies.
-
This is an actual thing? ...that makes me happy.

Venom grenade would ALSO boost the damage of the other minions, so that's a double win. Probably won't happen, but that alone would help quite a bit.

Quote:I am not 100% positive that his ID was public knowledge. I know that in the Civil War arc he fought REALLY hard to allow super heroes to keep their identities a secret, though. But maybe that was just him standing up for the rights of his fellow heroes, I dunno for sure. He's had a job in the past doing freelance artwork for the Captain America comic by Marvel within the pages of his own comic.
Nowadays, he's pretty much in charge of the Avengers, SHIELD, and is protecting the entire world from threats so a civilian job is pretty much out the door.
Also I think his ID is public knowledge, so if Steve Rogers goes looking for a job he'd likely be hired because he is Captain America instead for the skill set he'd bring to the job. -
Some time ago the Soldier of Arachnos's Rifle Butt had its damage increased, but for some reason they didn't buff up the Spec Op equivilant.
I agree with giving the soldiers frag grenade, and maybe giving the medic a minor AoE heal, or an HoT to replace it.
As for spec ops...one thing that would benefit them is an AI change to prevent them from trying to use a CC on an already CC'd target. The second is a reduction on acitivation time on their SCAR snipe, as well as the afore mentioned damage boost. The third is the inclusion of another attack on a short cooldown to fill in the damage spaces, or something along the lines of Venom grenade. And personally I am still a fan of giving them a critical chance.
The commando, as much as I love him, suffers from having two massive cooldowns. Full auto at one minute, and LRM at 240. I'd say halve the recharge time on both of them. -
Er, what? No. You're off base. If anything, that was one of the most Captain America-ish things he said in the entire movie. It was really more of an homage then anything else.
-
Quote:I kinda disagree. While it did look like he at least passed out and maybe died, the medics were right there. And this IS SHIELD we are talking about. And something about the way Fury acted immediately after it seemed off. So I am in the "Coulson isn't dead camp" at the moment. We'll see where it goes.Uhmmm.......I know this is a comic book movie and in comics death has a tendency to not be permanent except for Captain Mar-Vell (Though that might be changing due to the Phoenix Force), but Coulson looked to be stabbed in or near his heart and it sure looked like he died in front of Fury.
Now granted they might have revived him and he's currently comatose as he heals but still that sure looked like a permanent death scene. -
They really did hit all the right beats, and the humor just added to it perfectly. It was fun, it was cool, it was our heroes growing into a team, and it was pure awesome. I definitely recommend any super hero fans to go and see it the second they can.

Nooo, though had I seen that at the time I created this screen name some ten years ago, it could have been. Used to play Magic all the time...*Coughs* I mean uh, no! Never!

Quote:"Puny god."Also went to a midnight showing and this was probably my favorite scene in the movie. One sec Loki is on screen calling Hulk (of all the people to say this to....) a bug, and then he just isn't standing there anymore o.O Of course the theater broke out in laughter as soon as we saw where Loki went
One question though.... due to all the laughter I didn't catch what Hulk said after he was done introducing Loki to the floor. Anyone able to tell me what he said? -
Quote:I took the fireworks display as the hammer going "NO." since Thor hadn't done anything special, just brought it down on the shield. Buutttt I could just be making much ado about nothing.I took that more as an irresitable force hitting an immovable object, The energy had to go somewhere.
However, they did show hulk not being able to lift it, so you know that somewhere theres a plan for Cap to be able to.
EDIT:
oh, and I loved the little bit with Loki and the arrow.
And the fact that Whedon snuck a pretty offensive insult past the censors. -
Quote:THANK YOU. I thought we were done with the post-credit scenes with Thanos, so I left. Kicked myself when I heard about this.Probably will be down in a few minutes but here's the 2nd post credit scene.
Link
Course I uh...will be going to see it again... -
I also liked how Mjöllnir took being swung against the only person on earth who could lift it. Unless I misunderstood that part, of course.
-
Quote:"I get that! ...I get that reference!"Yeah i just got back from seeing this. I was floored. Everybody got their time in the spotlight. Would have liked to have seen more of Cap's adjustment to the 21st century. What we got was still a whole can of awesome sauce.
Highlights:
-Widow's Fight scenes are the best in the film.
-The character interaction was almost perfect.
-Everybody had their moment to shine. -
Oh yes, that was not Hulk Smash. That was "Watch this."
-
Quote:He just has that stunned "What" look on his face. It was priceless. This was the moment of the film for me.
*evil villain begins monolog...*
*WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK*
The way he just laid there on the ground afterwards had me rolling.
The random Thor-punch was also just classic.
