Done while Cryptic and NCsoft were still working together on 'City of' - unless of course you are infering that Cryptic were fishing for content for their possible sequel while still working on this game - /conspiracy on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Based on what Cryptic have said, they started work on CoX2 soon after CoV shipped. Which would put it at about the same time as those polls. Of course, CoX2 then went on to become MUO, and eventually CO.
It's no geat conspiracy, but whilst the where technically still "working together" they where in fact already split into two seperate teams. -
[ QUOTE ]
veered off on a tangent away from the content we voted on on their official polls
[/ QUOTE ]
Those where Cryptic polls. You want that stuff, you know where to look.
I agree that they have wasted far to much time tinkering with PvP, but that's what comes of listening to players, but the MA is, IMO, the best addition to this game ever. -
[ QUOTE ]
The thing is, I do love this game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you? I enjoy it playing it. It's fun. But I cartainly don't love it.
[ QUOTE ]
But the Devs have stopped listening.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. A game in which the devs did everything players asked for would be the most awful game ever.

Dark Astoria
[/ QUOTE ]
What's wrong with Dark Astoria?
[ QUOTE ]
Eden
[/ QUOTE ]
Eden? When? It has to score as the zone least mentioned on the forums, surely?
[ QUOTE ]
Villains have BEGGED for a new SF.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only so they could farm it for merits, and issue 14 removed the need for merit farming.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't recall anyone asking for a Roman zone
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but you aren't the author, it's not your story. It's up to the developers to decide what direction they want it to take. -
[ QUOTE ]
you're more likely to see stuttering due to network lag than a bunch of capes in a raid.
[/ QUOTE ]
That depends entierly on which is worse, your graphics harware or your internet connection. -
Yeah, lack of choice of powers I don't think is a worry for CO. More of a worry is extreme FOTM-elitism, given the difficulty in blancing free power choice builds.
-
Do you get the same problem if you use a different mob as the hostage?
-
Sure, it's worth a try, but my inclination is to look for snags before they occur. If the devs did that we wouldn't have so many problems.
-
[ QUOTE ]
To reduce lag we were told to put on the fabled hami-kini. But to be honest, i saw no gain in performance.
[/ QUOTE ]
That depends on what hardware you are using. people using low spec machines certainly saw massive performance increases by players avoiding capes and auras.
[ QUOTE ]
in large raids like that it's not capes which cause lag, it's the network not keeping up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Performance, not lag. Not the same thing at all. -
Well, you seem to have found the cause of that problem, if not a satiscactory solution.
We really need to track down 3dent's problem. Is it the map, or is it the choice of hostage, or is it file corruption on upload? -
The apocalypse zombies use the invasion code for scaling, which makes them unlikely candidates for the MA. I think that they all have an actual level of 25.
-
This sounds a bit like something I encountered on a mission that used the Atlas Park (Ruined) map. Only in this case i had the hostage but not the guards.
The hostage appeared to be in the indoor section, at the end of the corrador, but the guards where missing, so i couldn't rescue him. When I tried summoning pets at the hostage location, they disapreared, apparantly transported somewhere outside the map boundary. Hypothosis: map hole. Although I wasn't able to jump though it myself. -
[ QUOTE ]
Superheroes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. At least not for me. I'm not really a comic book superhero fan. I just like the game.
Although the lack of elves is a plus point. -
Technically, old hami wasn't designed for 100+.
But current hami is designed for 50, and their are comonly that many on mothership raids, and 50 players with 3 capes each would cause the same performance hit as 150 players with one cape each, which is more than the old hami raids. -
I think it would be worth filing an in game /bug report on that.
Errors in map ID could be causing some of the other bugs described here. -
[ QUOTE ]
I doubt that a 4-letter acronym is going to fool the GMs
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably not, but it wouln't stop farmers from trying it because they think it will fool the GMs. -
And farmers might be inclined to add SFMA, because they think it might make thier farm less likely to be deleted.
-
I think there are two entries for the same map.
Anyone got the game in front of them and can check the spawn point info for the Widow Tower map? -
[ QUOTE ]
A very simple mish (click a glowie, rescue 3 hostages, defeat a boss) in my arc somehow fails to spawn one of the hostages from time to time, and/or makes one of the hostages invisible.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's pssible that this is related to the defendable object bug we found last week. Hostages use the same kind of spawn point as defendable objects. It may be "invisible" because it is superimposed on an identical hostage. -
[ QUOTE ]
I had a similar problem when I was testing an arc using the Widow Tower map. No sign of the hostage. The map completely ignores the front setting for the hostage. What seemed to happen was that it had actually spawned the hostage and the mobs around it right at the back of the map on a raised platform that was all but invisible from below.
[/ QUOTE ]
Check the map description. I'm at work and can't check, but I suspect the map you are using has no "front" spawn points of the kind that can take hostages, so it is using the only available valid spawn point. - the location you are describing is where Ghost Widow is when you have to rescue her. -
It's a performance issue. As anyone who remembers the old hami raids will tell you, lots of capes in one place cause a bad performance hit.
Now imagine that performance hit multiplied by three. -

I love this game and want to see what it is capable of, but I must admit, CO is looking shiny, and frankly, I dont believe the "great things to come" rubbish any more, though if they want to prove me wrong and actually TELL us what is coming, I will eat my hat.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quoted for truth
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter what anyone tells me.
I will play both games, and stick with whichever is best, simple as that. -
[ QUOTE ]
1) The MA wasn't enough for a single issue. Given that it was meant to be part of other issues there should have been some nice shinies for those who had no interest in the MA.
[/ QUOTE ]
There where. PvP IO sets, PvP changes, merit random drop table improvements. But people have been far to busy with the MA to notice them.
[ QUOTE ]
2) It was released too early in terms of development and in terms of game play.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's always to early. If you waited till everything was perfect, nothing would ever be released. And it would still break as soon as you let the general public in. In this case, it had to come out before CO anyway, so delay was not an option.
[ QUOTE ]
3) When the players ask for stuff, it's generally very eloquently expressed and well reasoned
[/ QUOTE ]
What forum are you reading?
[ QUOTE ]
they've been asking for a major PVP fix for a long time
[/ QUOTE ]
Which they got in the last issue. Be careful what you wish for...
PvP in CoX is unfixable. Any attempt to do so can only ever make things worse.
