In practice, I have yet to confirm this. But remember, there is a reason Castle hates this power, and I think this is it.
castle hates this power, and power boost, because of the +/- special effect. im not entirely sure why (probably has something to do with how its coded)

you created a thread asking for advice on a stalker. listened to everyone's advice, from people who know wtf they're talking about. decided to do the exact opposite of the advice given just to be different (which doesn't work in pvp by the way, i liked the analogy someone used in another thread, slax i think, that its like bringing a moped to the indy 500) and then denounced us by calling us number crunchers, which didn't even happen in this thread, and bringing up your girlfriend. short of tap out shirt and a flat bill hat with the sticker still on it, thats about a 9.0 on the tool-o-meter. You're being called a troll because this is at least your 6th time to do the exact same thing that you've done in this thread.

but to be back on topic, make your stalker (or as i recommended WS if you really just wanna do **** to be different) hit up freedumb RV or test ladder and enjoy being gimp.

Since I obviously don't know what i'm talking about, help me out then. You've already said that since they'll hit through retsu/elude anyway they're pointless. which by this logic any defense is pointless (this of course isn't true but by your logic, it is). so if im playing a defense based AT that is in fact going to get hit, even for the small period of time when im running away trying to rehide, why would i play the defense based toon that is going to get hit(or, hell, even has a high chance to get hit, exluding t9s) when all it offers is a good self heal when i can play a set like WP that offers a similar self heal, psi res along with good res to everything else, a contant HP buff, i.e. more thing that would help me if im "going to get hit anyway". the same goes for regen with its 2 heals, instant healing, and super diet phase in mog.

look, i wasn't saying nin was crap and none should ever be made, I was simply stating that for a person making a new toon(which in this case completely ignored all advice given but that aside) WP and/or regen was probably a better. I concede on the the "living in retsu" comment.

so.....you don't need elude because heroes will hit through it anyway...so your normal defenses (which are obviously much lower without retsu/eldue) are fine? is that why nin is your #1 choice? a nin out of hide should be living in retsu since the only thing that will be able to hit it(atleast hard enough to take it down before it gets away to rehide) will be aim + BU.

as of right now, its not like villz need +percep since the hero stealth cap is so low. double stacked mez prot doesn't do anything (thanks i13) and your normal defenses alone will not save you from 2+ heroes.

can nin be good? sure there are some very good nin stalks but for the most part retsu is a big part of them and it would cost easily double the inf it would take to make a decent nin as it would a regen or WP for the same level of survivability.

WP is first because it has the heal as well as decent resistances and +percep. regens heal's + mog is more useful than nin's defenses.

Did I mention Traps? Seriously it's one of the best solo Defenders. It's tough, has mez protection, can use seekers to eat an alpha strike, has some mez capability, decent resistance debuffs and can stay out of melee range if it wants. What more can you ask for?

    niether? regen or WP

DR will hit both nin and SR and you'll end up living in elude/retsu

blaster would only have to go through the attack chain once (especially a sonic or psi) and the defender would be down.

This is exactly right. However there wouldn't be anything wrong with offering something that is semi decent to introduce/encourage pvp within the pve community. pvp should have a reward for competitive pvp, but giving newbies something to get their foot in the door wouldn't alienate Pvers

But this thought completely ignores the fact that lots of people don't like PvP, and never will
No, the mindset behind i13 was to make pvp easily accessible and easier for the common player. not to introduce a tangible incentive to introduce pvp.

strait from the website: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list.

Trying to get the "Ewww" camp to buy into your PvP is simply not going to be particularly successful. You can make rewards enticing enough to make the lighter parts of the "Ewww" camp do the PvP, but they're not going to be enjoying it. They're going to be doing it for the rewards, and not for the joy of the PvP experience itself.
I really don't think this is true at all. Mainly becuase if this was the case you'd have more people pvping for the pvp io drops, which we clearly don't. But to compare to pve, do you really think people would play PvE (or rather would pve have the same population) if no rewards were given? if there were no IOs, merits, inf, markets anything? of course not. Will giving pvp an incentive likely draw people that just do it for the rewards? probably, but it would also bring in some of the pve carebears that would have never thought of even trying pvp. you aren't going to create a community if there is no end to a mean (aside from *just* fun). having a fun gameplay is a very large aspect of that (i12) but even in games with thriving pvp communities, FPSers, even RTS pvp games, there is a point to the pvp other than just for the sake of pvping.

and to reiterate using your analogy, no meat would be forced, it would simply be introduced as an alternative option, which in the current game, it isn't. at all. ever.

not really, with all the crap that they added with i13, pvp is all about the build which you can get from the forums. the only real skill pvp takes anymore is knowing how to kite which really isn't a skill as much as it is common sense.

Edit: Actually, you don't even have to go that far. Just get a phase shift power for yourself and phase out after you see Aim+BU, then you can control when to phase back in.
cage powers don't really work at all in pvp anymore

blaster would win simply because the defenders already low damage is generally just as low if not lower in pvp and they get the shaft on epic powers (although this probably will change in GR). But short of a really really really tricked out sapp build (kin/elec would be the first thought, until defenders get therm, but even then i'd still probably pick the blaster) the blaster would win because of the better range, better chance to spike, and has much more survival from ice mastery than defenders get with just phase.

most defender builds are basically all disruption low damage where as blasters are all about spike and since blasters get the better survivability from the epic and the blaster's ability to spike squishies, blaster wins everytime.

I have no interest in competing against other players. That's why I don't play FPSes, why I only play RTS against AIs, why I avoid large swaths of online gaming.

I'm a freaking carebear. I don't want to compete. That's why you guys call us "carebears".

And a few issues ago they changed every Villain accolade to completely remove the need several of them had for PvPing, because we carebears had no interest in PvPing despite all the incentives in place for us to do so.

I don't begrudge you folks your PvP; different strokes, different folks, and all that. But any attempts to tie PvE and PvE benefits into the PvP system are poorly conceived, even more poorly executed, and demonstrably the wrong way to go.
you still haven't given a definite answer on why it would be the wrong way to go to *encourage* pvp (other than i don't like pvp). taking on the past (and quite frankly poor) example of PvP IOs, with the exception of glad jav's and panacea's, pvpers don't use them because they're generally worthless for pvp and offer much much more to the pve'r with ex'ing and all that. poorly executed? yes, definitely but if they changed how they acquired these I don't think they'd be considered the failure that you make pve benefits from pvp out to be.

Even still, since they are very hard to acquire, most players disregard them anyway as there are plenty of other ways to power up your character and are more of a luxury than a necessity. For the most part, purples are the same way but yet no one really complains about those either. My point being that, knowing the devs, any pve benefits added would be completely optional and not necessary (since that has been their selling point on basically everything added so far)
