    Blaster Damage

    [ QUOTE ]
Er... and who would that be exactly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Orochi and Filburt come immediately to mind. That's not complete list, just the two names that I can recall (Orochi because it's very recent, Filburt because that's apparently his favorite thing in these threads).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm against tank mages, at least as far as not everyone in this game is a tank mage (maybe if everyone was I wouldn't have a problem with tank/scraps/post 32 controllers)

As it currently stands Tankers have the best defences in the game, and the highest single target attack in the game, with the only downfall of that being that if you herd and stack too many mobs at one place you can accidentally kill yourself, it also has a set designed to protect itself through killing everything around it, which means it's fairly safe and very damaging.

Scrappers are about the same as that.

Post 32 controllers are what really get me in the risk/reward senario, the worst offender, gets an invincable tank team, and summonable energy blasters, the others, except mind (and maybe gravity, I'm not sure on it's damage output with the sings.) can do about the same, and once they summon these pets, they can just Phase shift and let the pets go to town, or die, who cares, no XP debt.

I imagine the scrappers who cant are either dark or invuln, and relying on their decreased resistance caps? or is 75% enough to take on reds and make sandwiches? I don't know, maybe not. But then dark gets cloak of fear for added defense, and invuln gets invincibility for added defense... so.... I don't know if its true that not all scrappers can do this.

let us not forget: everyone loves sandwiches.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My Invuln at level 39 can, the ~75% resists coupled with the defence from Invince are sick, even after the "Nerf" to invince (and once I slot invince for tohit buffs, I won't need to worry about slotting for ACC either)

Amused isn't the right word for what I feel on this issue, but I've been experiencing it.

Statesman is simply not listening to the player, and is so out of sync with the game and it's players, it's just so obvious...

The regen thing, even though I'm all for it, and most scrappers getting hit with a nerf bat (Me personally, not Blasters in general), started showing this, it took a demo recording, and players actually proving it wasn't true through numbers to get an apology out of him. This blaster issue cements it, he thinks simply being a "Ranged attacker" is enough of a bonus that it out weighs out compairible damage to scrappers and out massive squisyness, when it doesn't, and because it's hard to put hard numbers on player's opinions, he probably won't ever apologize or think about listening to our suggestions.

He's already stated he disbelieves our opinions on the usefullness (or lack there of) on certain secondaries, he doesn't believe our complaints that range isn't an advantage, and he doesn't even know where he wants to take the AT, saying he thinks we're ranged, yet refusing to remove Melee...I'm seriously starting to think the other ATs were right about us not wanting to draw his attention, as no one with practical game experience would want someone this inept with his own game to alter their powersets.

I hate dogging on States like this, but man...ask for him to throw you a bone and he tries to nail you with it.

    See, its all about perception.
    We noticed it.

Some see our damage in atlas park and then close their eyes, and never notice it.

Obviously our perception stat is higher than average!

    [/ QUOTE ]

it has to be, otherwise we'd always be at the debt cap.

Hey, just be glad you're not getting the Dark Armor treatment...

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean like being able to stack your armors, and having a horrid power turned into something over powered, then having that said power cranked down a bit because it basically made it so they didn't need to run their other toggles, or giving it one of the few fear protections in the game for PvP, or having one of the few toggle toxic protections?

    I wish...

I know I'll catch alot of flack for saying to off Total Focus. This is a great power, but I feel that the final power in a support powerset should be th ultimate in support not the ultimate in melee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Total Focus is everything Blaster Melee needs to be (minus the long animation), it's heavy damage and a high mag long duration stun, it's support and damage in one nice package of "Holy **** that looked painful!"

    [ QUOTE ]
Really, you would have been better off not even mentioning a minor-damage attack with a three minute timer. I was almost agreeing with you until that one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, and the next time someone mention Short Circuit, Ball Lightning, Ice Storm, Buck Shot, ignite and Rain of Fire as "Good damaging AoE attacks," I'll make sure to promptly ignore everything else they said.

Someone else covered the other thing you mentioned.

    ----------------------------

Here's something else to consider, didn't scrapper get Crits to be more helpful on a team? Why do they need Crits and a higher damage cap?

Also on the Risk thing, as obviously being in melee, reguardless of defences, is more dangerous then being at ranged, why don't tankers have a 500% damage cap? They're obviously in more danger then scrappers, they are required to draw the aggro and take melee beatings for the rest of the team, and not just themselves.

    ----------------------------------

Don't recall who said it, but someone said "ranged + Control = Overpowered," doesn't that make Controller pets over powered? The pets are ranged damage sources, and the Controller is controlling for the pets. So it's overpowered for Blasters to be able to mass hold and kill everything, but controllers are just fine being able to mass hold and kill everything? And don't give me that "31 levels of hell" crap, it's called a team, if we blasters are required to get in one 35+, you can suffer through the easy [censored] first 31 levels in one. I Have solo'd with controllers, before pets, when nothing is hurting you, it isn't that bad, especially if you slot your single target hold and Immob for damage.

    [ QUOTE ]
Actually, to me that's AoE damage, but I think most blasters are stuck on the "omg scrappers get 500% cap and we only 400%, we are doooooomed!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes because no scrappers have AoE, not Spines, not Claws, not BS, not Kat, not Dark, not MA...

oh no, wait they do...like, Spine Burst, Quills, Ripper, Throw Spines, Spin, Eviscerate, Shockwave, Slice, Whirling Sword, (Kat verstions of those last two), Shadow Maul, Dark Consumption (hey if we're just counting AoE damage here, minor or not, it's AoE and damage, had enough people holding Rain of Fire against me as "damage," pfft...) and Dragon's tail.

    -----------------------------------------

And states, thanks for comfirming that you are out of sync with the game, including your own ideas for one AT. If we're ranged damage specialists (not even offensive juggernauts anymore, nice to know we are the most useless AT in the game now), why do we have melee, yeah I like some of the melee attacks, but some are just retarded to keep.

You're also telling us, the people who actually have to take the time to get to 50 and can't just type "/level to 50 with all powers from all sets" and have to slog through the game with useless power sets, that we're wrong when we say that the power set is useless? Please post a demo recording of /fire being even close to as useful as /dev or /eng, so we can see your internal test server being wrong once again.

This is an outrage, Scrappers whine cause they can't take on multiple 4+ bosses and AVs, and can't herd as well any more and they get a written apology, we want to equal three reds and are told "well obviously you don't know how to play? BS States, BS...

    Blaster Damage

    [ QUOTE ]
blasters have the alrgest base damage scrappers have about 80% of that for a base damage i believe, controllers and defenders have 65% blaster base damage with tanks having 80% of a scrappers base damage. the buff cap is 500% for scrappers and 400% for blasters sooo lets take a level 1 attack for example and say it does 12 damage a scrapper with that attack would do 9.6. if damaged is capped scrappers and blasters would both do 48 damage with said attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except Scrapper and Blaster damage is based the same, Brawl index wise, Scrappers brawl hits with the same damage as blaster brawl. Which everytime you see Brawl comparisons there is no percent decrease, like with tankers, when compairing their damage.

Concern post that blaster damage chart with the BI of all our sets compaired to the Spines scrapper.

    Blaster Damage

    [ QUOTE ]
Defenders have the same hits as scrappers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hit Points or Accuracy? Cause they do not have the same HP as a scrapper.

Stop putting words in my mouth, I said Scrappers, tankers and post pet controllers are over powered, if the devs decide to fix this by overpowering Blasters and defenders, that's fine, if they fix this by nerfing scrappers, tanks and post pet controllers, I'm fine with that as well.

In the case of controllers, I can see some fixes being in line with the nerfs, like upping the damage for their pre-32 skills, or implementing the 3X damage thing when an enemy is held.

From scrappers and tanks, I can't say I'd be all that upset if they lowered them without any bonuses (that they don't already have).

Either way, I'm sick of "City of Tank mages," and wish we could get back to the game where teaming didn't slow down XP gain.

    Blaster Damage

    [ QUOTE ]
That was - and is - the reason why Blaster damage is capped lower than Scrappers. I did forget to add that the ranged attacks of mobs deal less damage (typically) than melee attacks - and the Blaster is generally the target of raned attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, this is somewhat true, except when you look at things like Malta and Nemisis minions and bosses, snipers, and Carnie Bosses who are mostly ranged, and have AoE ranged attacks that stuns (Malta Operation Officer LTs have a stun grenade that lasts around 30 seconds), or can do nothing but ranged damage, or in the case of Zeus Titans, do far more damage at extreme snipe range (Quad cannon will DoT one shot me as a blaster, and only my blaster will ever have to face that attack).

There's also the fact that a scrapper can either get 100%+ defences, 75% resists (plus a decent defence), 400% or so regeneration (with at least 140% HP, sometimes more with DP), or AoE control powers that render everything around them unable to attack with decent damage resistance. Which reneders even that scary melee null for the most part, I know my MA/Invuln scrapper can take 4+s, and if I had perma DP, and Temp invuln better slotted, I could take 5+s.

On a team, the higher damage cap also allows defender/controller buffs to effect them more, which puts them in a favorable possition for teams, as with crits, an essential damage doubler, their Damage cap shoots to %1000 for that one attack that does crit. Their defences with either render healing Null, and only once or twice clicked on debuff/buffs, also allows defenders to blast, which raises the team damage; while having a blaster means that the defender has to baby sit them and can't blast, especially with the insane aggro blasters draw.

    [ QUOTE ]
But many issues have come up - most notably, the perception that Blasters are too fragile at levels 35+. Their damage potential does not compensate for their low hit points.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is dead on, with the exception of killing things out right, or /dev's Cloaking device and Smoke Grenade (which are pretty minor), we have no way to mitigate our incoming damage.

Defenders have debuffs/buffs and self healing that can mitigate incoming damage

Controllers can hold/sleep/stun and use the defender debuffs/buff/self heals to mitigate incoming damage, along with summoning things to take aggro for themselves that actually do damage.

Tankers have 80% of our damage, and even the weakest defensivly, the fire tank, can survive stuff that would one shot a normal blaster, my Fire/ice tank took out 6+s, and only ended up having trouble with a couple because they could hover above the Ice patch.

Scrappers have good enough resists to survive things like AVs, and even the ones unable to take out AVs can usually survive packs of 3 to 4+ con minions, and are actually more survivable with powers like invincability.

At any given time against something that isn't a weakness to the set (like Psi and Invuln), a blaster is the least survivable of all the ATs, teamed or solo.

    [ QUOTE ]
And, of course, there's the complaint that some Secondaries have too many melee attacks - something that the Blaster avoids at all costs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not just melee, but PBAoE, things like Chilling embrace are worthless to a blaster, but crazy good to a tanker, as a blaster can't survive the alpha strike to use the slow effect.

And alot of the melee attacks that are in sets like /ice and /fire have scrappy slow and dot effects that mean nothing when the point of a melee attack for a blaster should be to take them out of commision through either a status effect like a stun or a Hold, which both /Elec and /eng do (and because every power in /eng can stun, that's why those melee attacks are so coveted, even the slow Total Focus, which can, and will stun a boss for around 10 seconds). A slow and a dot aren't useful when they're just delaying the enevitable, or will kill the enemy after you've got the debt for being mauled by him.

Another factor with the melee attacks is animation time, Total Focus has a slow animation time, but the huge damage and almost guaranteed stun are worth it, stun with it's low damage and stun that only works on something we can kill in the animation time for it, is not. Also animations that stick us in them for X seconds after they're in effect (like Burn and Fire Sword Circle) aren't any better, especially considering how they don't at least mitigate the incoming damage, if we could run up, toss it out in about a one second animation then get out of dodge before the retaliating melee strikes came in, they'd be somewhat worth the risk.

Just for referance, the Melee atacks people like are and really do use are: Bone Smasher, Total Focus, Shocking Grasp and Freezing touch, there may be others, but because the usefulness of /fire, /ice and /elec are rather (in)famous, it's hard to catch a person using them.

    [ QUOTE ]
At the moment, Scrappers, and to a lesser degree, Tankers, are being analyzed. Once we establish a baseline, then we'll be in a better position to look at Blasters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why are you using them as a baseline? Ther're the two sets most unlike the others, they alone have higher HP and self defences and status protection (minus Force field people). They and post 32 controllers are considered the most broken of the ATs.

    ----------------------------

Also to note, if SOs are so broken, why not make then unavalible until 27 ot 32, esentially making them unavalible until the last half of the game, like they were before the level cap was raised?
  12. I was going to comment on the Nat heroes kind of being out there like "Uh guys, you kind of suck, just get out of here already."

page 11 has to be like 80 AR blasters opening up with Full Auto looking smug while all the other heroes run past without their powers.
  13. My question on the Tsoo and the like is where they come from.

Tsoo, in and of it's self, reminds me of the Japanese "Tsu," along with the use of Ninja, which are Japanese, though the referances to the animals in their names is somewhat reminisent of Kung Fu and it's animal stances practice. However the leader Tub Ci is not able to be pronounced with Japanese sylibles, which leades me to think it's Chinese or Korean. The presence of the Sorcerers and Ancestor spirits don't solve anything as that type of stuff is in at least Japanese and Chinese cultures.

I wouldn't mind if we there was an answer to where their origins spawn from.

    Boss Changes

As a blaster primarily, I've been less and less thrilled by these mini-AVs you've created.

I'm currently at the end of the Kronos Titan arc, and the last mission has, rough estimate, at least 8 bosses, and that was before I got tired of scouting it out with invuln and constantly in-mission ambushed by teams of sappers (fix that...it's annoying to have one in a group let alone one rushing you on the set up to attack). Most were orange, some were red, I've seen the DoT from hell that is a quad blast hit me for about 149 damage a tick, and it didn't stop until I was dead (and I'm pretty sure it would have went farther). I'm currently playing another blaster to get my SG to the second stringa TF, but also because I'm tired of running around with missions I can't solo because of AVs or various other "features."

As far as I'm concerned all this did was help those that already didn't need the help, as in Scrappers and fire tanks, cause they can still survive and solo these things, while those of us that already have a hard time finding a decent team (you may have good experiences with teams states, but I have quite a few horror stories) or soloing are even worse off then before.
  15. I have a feeling that Christmas/whatever time around State's house is somewhat maddening, imagine if you will, you're on the receiving end of one of Jack's presents: you wake up to go open your present only to find a little note that leads you around the house until you find the present, which is actually just an empty box, followed by more searching until you come upon the boX of the packages, note, mor seraching, packing material, Hanging gardens of babylon, and then you go crazy.
  16. I got upgraded near Blue Steel on a helipad, so it might have been moved.
  17. I'm more worried about the bottom half of the bottom line of my chat being cut off.
  18. I received Redeemer, it's for the Alexander missions in Talos. I did not however get Frontline, I know I've done the CoT mission for that as well.
  19. I have no idea about teaming on ol' addy there, I solo'd him at 36. I heard Babbage spawns in Boomtown, but I can't find the guy.
