I dinged 22 last night, and thought I would share my experience with MM so far.
In the last second of creating my character, I decided that I would go Robots/Force Field (I was originally planning Robot/Traps).
I haven't seen dominators or corrupters around my level-range, so I can't offer my perspective on that class. I have played with a lot of brutes and stalkers tho, and my initial oppinion is that MM should be happy as we are, especially once the enhancement bug has been fixed.
Up untill level 12, I didn't experience a single death. I saw the brutes and the stalkers take a lot of hits, especially the stalkers bought the farm a few times.
From 12 to 18, I felt I did fairly well. Killing was fairly fast, I felt even more safe as I began using more commands to control my pets, and I really did feel that I was contributing to the team. The stalkers on my team did better and better, and slowly started to shine. The brutes kept getting killed, over and over.
From 18-22 I felt somewhat out of place. The brutes kept raking up debt, the stalkers were amazing at removing bosses and LTs. I let my robots go in first to distract everyone, then the other ATs would more or less do the cleaning.
I decided to solo from 21-22, because I was so shamed about my performance on teams. That went really well. It was extremely safe, and the speed was "okay" (not especially fast). The good thing was that I could solo just about anything. An 8 man team going up against tsoo in small closed caves might feel the heat - with single person spawns I wasnt even breaking a sweat. The sorcs werent a problem for the bots.
From 22 to 23 have been really enjoyable so far. I had saved up around 350k, that went into slotting with SO's. That really made a difference. I avoided spending too much on my bots, and put everything into defense (bubbles) and stamina.
However, I am starting to feel really squishy. If things go wrong and something decide to start hitting me, it usually hurts a lot. I had forgotten how much a Tank Swiper can hurt - now I remember it very clearly.
Bottom line, again only after reaching level 22-23, is that MM are really enjoyable. Right before we get "the next bot" we might feel a bit weak, but we feel damn fine at the levels after that.
I hope the enhancement bug is fixed soon, and is really looking forward to seeing how well we do! -
Yeah, I can see the reasoning for your choices. Regarding the Epic pools, I doubt they are in place when I hit 40, so I decided to ignore them for now.
I totally see a Robot build without healing, and would have preferred Heal Other from the power pools - but then Recall Friend would have to go. Since Robo's do all my damage, it would be silly not to heal them at all.
I think your build looks great tho - happy hunting! -
For those of you who haven't had access to beta, I thought I would share my live build. I'm not claiming its the best build in MMO history, but it's a build for the active Mastermind. You will have tons of powers to play with, and help enhance the damage from your robots.
This build is a group build. While you will be able to solo (and actually be really good at it), you won't receive any healing powers untill you are reaching the higher levels. This is because your protector bots will do most of the work for you, especially if you use them on a defensive setting.
I avoided the two attacks available to me, which will make the first few levels somewhat slow - unless you are grouped. It's a late bloomer build, something you might want to factor in, and respec at 24.
I avoided Hasten on purpose. With the enhancement nerf you will have slots in abundance, might as well use some of them for increased recharge.

Note;
The Robotics powerset for Mastermind is conceptually solid, and probably works best with Traps and Force Field secondaries (as both can be percieved as hightech). With the recent nerf to both FF and to enhancement slotting in general, I feel that FF is too weak to utilize at the moment. However please notice, that a group with two xx/FF Masterminds would do really well. -
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this!
I am looking for a SG for my fantasticly evil personage, a Robot/xxx Mastermind. I have been playing beta quite a lot, and know thats what I want to create first.
I have extensive knowledge about the game, and took around 5-6 toons to the highest level on Victory (US server). I recently began playing again, and decided to try the Euro servers.
I like playing "hardcore", ie I like leveling fast, getting new superpowers and experiencing more of the game.
I believe that almost any group compositions can work, if you just have smart players. A healer, tank, controller is not NEEDED (altho they can make life easier at times).
Any SG's out there, who feel roughly the same way? If so, where can I find you and join up for the 2 day headstart :P -
Confirmed. Small jets on the legs of your robots.
Group Fly gives a small percentage of inaccuracy, appears to be negated with maneuvers.
I dont have any screenshots of it, sorry. I will try to post some saturday or sunday, when I reach level20. (:P)
