    ...Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls! (GHKS)...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am SO using that! (With your permission of course )
  2. <satire>

I remember Issue 1 before Kill Skuls. Personally, I liked that system better.

Now that the devs put Kill Skuls into the game, I don't feel like a hero anymore. Go and Hunt were fine without Kill Skuls! I should be able to play the game like I want without Kill Skuls

Devs, if you're listening, please roll back Kill Skuls! Kill Skuls takes away from the action that I had before Kill Skuls was in place. I would rather have an ACC penalty than Kill Skuls. I'd even take an alternate clown costume with an ACC penalty than Kill Skuls

If the devs don't roll back Kill Skuls in I5, I'm quitting. I'm cancelling my billing right now, hopefully this will get the dev's attention! Anyone who feels the same should also cancel their billing!

    </satire>

But really, there's nothing quite like the taste of a nice, cold Kill Skuls!

Kill Skuls - the choice of a new generation!™
  3. Good catch! I got "Arena" and "Colosseum" mixed up some how. I think you're the closest so far, much better than my stab at it

Well, issue two was called "A Shadow of the Past", which just so happened to be the title of the second chapter of "The Fellowship of the Ring". Oh, and "Eastgate" is referenced as being part of Moria in the world of LoTR.

So, going by the theory that the chapter titles refer to great works of literature, I did a little research into the new title: Issue 3 A Council of War.

The only thing I could come up with is Treasure Island. Chapter 12 (1 plus 2 equals 3?) of Treasure Island is called Council of War.

So, is this title a hint at the possibility of a water zone? Perhaps pirate villains? Or some sort of treasure?

Just some speculation I'll put out there. Enjoy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very astute.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If all that's true, can someone figure out if there is a literary reference to the title of Issue 4, and maybe what Issue 5 wil be named? Is there a prize for guessing correctly?

Edit - is it because Chapter 40 on Star Wars - Attack of the Clones DVD is named "The Arena"? Maybe I'm just being too nerdy...

My guess would be that somehow they are trying to get back to the boosted bosses if only in missions.

You could be on to something here. I just wish Statesman would let us know why the changes are being proposed. What's the context? What's the big picture?
<ul type="square">[*] Is it to compete more with WoW?[*] Is it to deter PLing?[*] Is it to make navigating low-lvl hazard zones easier?[*] Is it to make creating alts easier?[*] Is it a precursor to re-boost bosses?[*] Any or all of the above?[/list]
Statesman, if you're reading this, could you let us know what the imputus is?

    The truth is out there...

Increasing the "debt-free" cap is making it weaker.

IMO, I think 4-5 lvls is plenty of time to learn how to maneuver around hoigher lvl mobs, even on foot. Even though I don't have many alt's, I remmber Perez Park fondly enough. I died once and learned how to run like hell after that

    No sympathy here

    My 2 cents:

I would recommend that you create an accolade that can be earned at early levels (something you could earn at level 2) that would allow you to initiate a Teleport to the Hospital.

Couldn't disagree more Pilcrow That's like using 911 to call an ambulance to give you a ride to the deli.

Simple solution: make Super Speed and Fly available at level 6 instead of level 14. What in the world is the justification for having it at level 14 anyway? Keep people out of PI? (Like that works. Saw a level 3 at Portal Corp. the other day).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was thinking the same thing All travel powers should be available earlier if you waant players to do missions in low-level hazard zones without raising the "debt-free" cap.

Really, ther has to be another way to do this without nerfing debt. I don't care what WoW is doing, but nerfing debt is not the answer

I really do appriciate all the work that has been put into this game, and the work that has been pout into the new zones. Striga and the Hollows are pretty cool, quite fun, and have some good content there. I5 gives us yet another new zone. Why not use what we learned from Hollows and Striga to REDO Perez, Boomtown, Faultline, DA, etc. Add contacts and missions, put in some story, drop in a few cool and unique missions, and get people wanting to go there. New zones are not needed for content, fixing the 6 dead zones would fix the lack of content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

/Agreed. Last time I saw a number of poeple in ANY of these zones was during the WL event. SInce then it's been nothing but tumbleweed and hobos

Although I can see the direction that you're trying to take - rewarding people who do missions and play the content vice PLing - I disagree with the implementation.

Lowering the penalty for being defeated is rewarding bad gameplay. The entire reason the Debt system is in place is so players won't think of their avatars as "disposable." But eliminating debt until after lvl 10 does just that, as poeple will dispose of their avatar in high lvl mobs just to get use the hospital as a mass-transit system. Wasn't tha Paragon Dance Club moved because it was being exploited like this (in a different way)?

Also, halving the death penalty in missions also rewards bad gameplay. What kind of tactics will people use if the penalty for playing badly is lowered? People will just rush AVs and other high-level mobs, get killed, and then get a TP &amp; Rez from a teammate to repeat the process. It's not the way a mission is meant to be played. It also won't stop people from farming in missions (herd, reset mission, repeat).

This is just my opinion. I like the idea of rewarding players who play through the game content, but I don't think this is the way to do it.

Well, I've got nothing more to say to people who aren't really listening. So I'm out of here.

  11. Statesman,

I agree with most people on this forum that you, the dev team, and everyone else involved with the game defintely have the pulse of the players. By far CoH is the most player-receptive game I have seen.

As much cajoling and ranting as I have seen on the boards, I know the CoH team works hard to make this game appealing to as many people as it does. Stories, game physics, new zones, new ATs... its all good stuff

Thanks to you and yours for all of your hard work!
