Quote:Split among my characters on various servers I've got 3rd 4th 5th and 6thI'm aware of the pros and cons, but my opinion is that they should be global. It would be nice to have a "I was around back then" badge, which represents whether the player was online at the time it was given.
Vet badges kind of do this but actually, unless you've had your account on the whole 6 years its difficult to tell how much of a veteren some people are once they get into the 30+ months.
Personally I have the 1yr, 2yr, 4yr, 5yr and 6yr badges, but most only have 5 and 6..
Only reason I've even kept the characters on my original server was for precisely the idea that the badges might be made account wide. -
Figured I'd revive this thread, as I wanted to hear more of the forum member's opinions on the topic.

Quote:Ah thanks, I'm glad to know this has bee brought up before.... tho that thread seems to be based on the idea of getting earlier badges, while not having them... at least that seems to be what the OP had in mind, my way wouldn't be granting the older badges unless one already had them on at least one character, essentially just spreading out amongst your various characters, just making is faster and less worrisome then having to log every single one of your characters on so they can have that one badge. This has been discussed since the anniversary badges were released.
Here's one thread where the discussion was bunted about on both sides. I'll answer your argument with my opinion from that same thread.
Be warned. The responses tend to be very much redstate vs bluestate. Take everyone's opinion into account, and form/rehash your own. But to answer your original question, I'd call it a bad idea. Click the link above to see why.
I appreciate your side of the argument tho, after all I did ask you if you thought it was a good or bad idea.
Ah, that's a really good idea, it would be nice to have a separate section for the account wides. -
Okay, I didn't see any posts with this idea so I figured I'd throw it out there after talking about it for an extended period of time with some SG mates.
Perhaps the CoH Anniversary badges could be switched from per character to an account wide form, much like "Early bird" from the AE badges.
I know a bunch of people who'd be happy about not having to log thirty plus alts on one after another when the badges are released just because they don't want to miss that badge.
And I'm not saying the Dev's should allow people to buy the anniversary badges, or something stupid like that, no, this would just be for people who already have them, as a way for their alts to get them as well, should they want one for a badge title, or something along those lines.
What do you think guy's, good idea? Bad idea? -
Well I get the whole dev's saying no thing.
Which is all fine and dandy, and I'd be happy to make a completely different alt, hell I even did it for my main, who's a Corruptor, wanted to move them hero side.
Guess what, week after I got that character to 45, blammo, GR was announced.
What I'm trying to say, is for this specific character, I'd like to keep my badges, the ones that fit this character specifically, one in particular that really fits the character, and happens to be one of those annoying anniversary badges, the ones that come once a year and never come out again.
Wouldn't have any damn complaints about having to make a alt of this toon if I didn't have to lose that badge. Perhaps a better idea then AT respec would be to make their f&%king anniversary badges account wide, instead of just for each character.
Edit:
And yeah I understand completely the whole idea of the journey from lvl 1-50 and I respect that, I just don't want to give up the one badge that fits this character's story the best. -
This idea sprung into my head and I wondered if anyone else had thought about it, figuring someone probably had, I came to the forums here to post said idea and get other's feedback on it.
I was wondering if the dev's have ever thought about allowing players as a whole to respec not just their power choices, but their whole AT and or power pools.
Now I know this will probably be answered with something like "It'd be to much work on their end." But I figured I'd put it out there. Considering it'd be nice to be able to keep the badges my character has earned, while at the same time, being able to play them with new powers, as I no longer feel their current powerset fits them, being Thugs/traps MM with Dual pistols being a power set now.
Edit: Yes, I get the idea, it's been posted before, read my newest posts as my response before flaming me.
