Does anyone actually use gladiators? I'm a little disapointed that the 'veteran' reward isn't something more useful like a rock temp power or a party hat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well everybody wants a rock temporary power. It'd just be cruel to only give it to the veterans....

    [/ QUOTE ]

But what would we have to do to get the piece-of-string temporary power to wind around the rock? After all, that's why everybody WANTS a rock.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I want a prosthetic forehead to wear on my real head.

I was just scanning the Dev Digest and Cricket is wasting no time jumping and and modsmacking threads!

    Welcome aboard!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have to say, I actually like Cricket personally PMing you and telling you WHY a post of yours was deleted and asking you not to do that again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, someone got his tushie paddled, eh? Tsk, tsk.

  5. I knew it! Celtic is Banished Pantheon! All those poor, living threads sacrificed so that this one may rise again!

A gloom now falls over the message boards....

    What am I missing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're missing the same thing everyone else is missing: a costume option for male bare legs. It doesn't exist.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The bare legs option for Male and Huge body types has been added to an internal build. It will be coming down the QA path and to a server near you soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So Cuppa calls me a liar. OK, it does exist, but we don't have access to it yet.

I sure hope them legs is as hairy as hairy can be. Heroes don't shave their legs!

make war witch the hero trainer
    i think that'd work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

ABSOLUTELY NOT! War Witch is perfect as she is in there, delivering hilarious lines. Making her a trainer would "break" in that regard.

Besides, how often do you really need to train while on a team anyway? The extra power is nice on the even levels, but the extra slot or two typically doesn't make that much of a difference. Besides, I doubt we'll need to spend so much time in Hero/Villain teams that'd be a major issue. Heroes and Villains should only team up under extraordinary circumstances, not as a routine happening.

As for friends and/or coalitions, yeah they could be nice. It was a bit of a pain coordinating the villain friends with the hero friends to do the Pocket D missions, especially since most of them don't use our global SG channel and have hero/villain chat off by default. It won't kill me if that doesn't change, but an easier means of communication between the sides would be welcome.

    Pantsless Hero

Hmmm. That theory has some merit, methinks, Hermod. The one character I put the toga onto has gray skin, so it was pretty easy to make his legs look bare.

    Toga toga toga!

    Ooh... Ahh... <applause!>

What I don't like, not one little bit, is that I cannot, I repeat cannot under any circumstances, whatsover, and it really irriattes me, try it out until I get home from work. Feh.
  12. Northwoods

    Toga toga toga!

And what made you think I didn't check my facts before making the original post for fear of looking like a complete jackass, eh?

I still do a pretty good Bottom impression from time to time, but try and avoid it when I can.

    So there.
  13. Northwoods

    Toga toga toga!

    Tunic vs. toga

You want proof, you get internet proof. You want something more authoritative than wiki, search it yourself

(You'd think that Jack, being such a student of history, wouldn't have allowed such an egregious error. For shame.)
  14. Northwoods

    Toga toga toga!

Not to rain on the circus or anything, but that's not a toga. It's a tunic. It's a nice tunic, but a tunic none the less.

    Just sayin'.

    Interesting typo

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, come on. That can't be a typo. That was a raver who was, shall we say, a few drams short of a pint.

I thought the line was hilarious!
  17. [ QUOTE ]

Or carry on, I guess. Though it seems silly to me to get all upset over something you have no knowledge of, (though if you do have experience in such things it might be nice to point out that NONE OF US KNOW WHAT THIS COMPANY IS UP TO, so we can stop other people from taking ignorant assumption as certified fact).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bingo.

The assumptions tend to take on a life of their own and become "truth" after a while, with someone downstream believing that the origin is based on fact instead of the rants of the opinionated uninformed.

We see the effect. We cannot surmise the cause.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

Could you explain the reasoning for this? Because it sounds like you're saying the CoV team is better than the CoH team. Because you surmise that they chose to put CoV ish 1 out now because CoH 7 wasn't ready yet and they didn't want to wait...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could it be that the CoV team was able to move forward on new development while the CoH team had to retrofit CoH with a lot of CoV innovations, and do it over a lot more zones than just adding two new ones?

Might that put the CoH team at a slight disadvantage?

I certainly can't answer these question definitively, and I'd wager that nobody outside Cryptic's management team can either. Speculation is pointless. We know what we're told. Blindly assigning cause to the effect is an exercise in logical fallacy.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

Because it's a bad idea. Totally disparate development teams working on an application with this much shared code is an express train to Nightmare Town (for the developers involved) with a stopover in Bugsville (for the end users).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Different software teams--bad: agreed.

    Different design teams: different story.

The design teams cover things like look and feel, visuals and such. Having different teams for those areas is perfectly fine.

And, it's not uncommon to spin off a software group to work on cutting edge stuff, then roll the updates back into the base. Overall, though, I'd agree that the two teams need to collaborate or it's going to be chaos.
  20. [ QUOTE ]

CoV is suppose to have it's own development sadnbox; we were told this in the beginning.

That way both games get updated, not just one.

The Devs changed their minds (without telling us) however, and people are irate about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Who said both games aren't getting updated? Who said the development teams aren't different?

Could it be that the teams are on a different release schedule and they've chosen to release the updates independently instead of holding up the CoV updates until the CoH updates were finished? Could it be that States even said that they chose not to wait? Could it be that people are making a lot of assumptions?

I think Abe Lincoln said it best: You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Oh, sorry. That wasn't meant as an insult. It's fool, not please.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
If they are going to be sold separately then they should be supported separately...to an extent.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But where is it written in stone that they need to be supported equally. And, for that matter, what defines equal?
