I was pretty sure that when they added support during beta that it was "official." The ingame controller options already have a default gamepad setting.
*edit*
looks like only Logitech devices are officially supported.

i'd love for a change of policy on that, as lots of people have 360 controllers.
360 controller stance

Hi there,
As is known, the second analog stick on the Xbox 360 controller doesn't work for CoH.
Is there any chance of this getting fixed sometime soon? I'm sorta tired of having one controller for CoH and one controller for everything else I play.
My CoH controller just broke too, so now I'm looking at buying a new one and I wish I could just use my 360 controller. It'd make my life a lot easier.
A dev response would be lovely if possible so I can plan accordingly.
Thanks! -
i think you are!
and, is Ke'ros' Celestial patron...Rularuu?!
is KE'ROS actually the one who's been replaced?
or does Rularuu simply have a vested interest in ALSO defeating whatever mysterious enemy this team has been formed to stop?
tune in next week! same Celestial time, same Celestial channel! -
hey guys, i may not be able to make it this week. there's a futbol game happening at Fenway Park that i'm gonna try and attend Weds. night.
have fun this week! -
i can dig that. Ru is like a big bad in this universe.

it's nice that Ke'ros has a different perspective. gives us stuff to talk about and let's us play with what parts he has right, wrong and why.

Quote:Hi bull,Hi, bull,
I can answer this for you. All of my Ui update packs include the data folder, so you don't need to create it beforehand. As a matter of fact, it might be less confusing if you don't create it beforehand. Just open the zip file and copy the "data" folder directly into your City of Heroes programme folder.
*normally* yes, but Corva is correct, he already packages his mod with the data folder, so there's no need to create one yourself. As Corva said above, just open the zip file and extract the data folder directly into your City of Heroes folder. -
we can also turn off XP as we wait for you to catch up, and perhaps for Corva as well? this'll also keep us from getting too far ahead of Sky (and give me more time to work on my AE.
)

Quote:yeeeeewwww kaaaan duuuu eeeeet! =)Maybe you can link it to Corva's icon pack post too. This way its like a 1 stop shop type deal. Just ask Corva 1st if you want to link them together
I still want GB to hit 20 before we run tonight, so I can get those other missions (costume, cape and Mercedes Sheldon) -
yeah? do you think it's useful enough? maybe i'll repost it then. i just put this here cuz bull wanted help. =)

* How to Mod COH
this is for bull and anyone else interested that doesn't know how to mod CoH with things like Corva's icon pack or new fonts.
go to the directory of your CoH game. this is usually C:\Program Files\City of Heroes
is there a folder called data?
if not, then you haven't modded the game yet.
if yes, then you already have so why are you reading this?
think of the data folder as a detour sign. basically, the data folder is a folder that redirects the calls from CoH to replacement information instead of the standard info in the .pigg files. so if you put, say, new icons, in the proper folder tree inside the data folder, the new icons will replace the old icons in the game.
the actual game code/install is NOT CHANGED. if you ever want to "uninstall" a mod, just delete it from the data folder, or delete the whole data folder itself and the game will just run with the normal calls since nothing was actually changed.
so in order to install Corva's new icon pack, download the zip file. if you unzip it, it should already have a data folder, so if you do not have a data folder you just unzip it into your CoH folder on your drive and you should be done.
if you DO already have a data folder, then you should already know what to do, but just in case: then just add the contents that are in the zipped data folder into the data folder you already possess.
some mods can live in similar directory trees inside the data folder (for example, Corva's new icons and his new inspirations) so be sure to put them in the proper place without overriding other trees.
Example:
New Icon might be located here: C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\blah\blah2\blah3\newicons\
New Inspirations might be located here: C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\blah\blah2\blah3\newinspirations\
they're both folders inside blah3. they share a similar directory tree.
does that make sense?
that should help you install Corva's stuff.
the fonts work similarly, but you need to rename the new font you want to the name of the font the game is looking for. i'm at work so i don't have them now, but i can post them tonight or you can look through the Font thread i posted.
basically i copied ComicSans.ttf and ComicBD.ttf to the data folder (i think it's data/fonts/) and renamed them to the fonts the game is looking for, and now my game has comic-y fonts. =)
hope this helps! let me know if you have any questions!
*WARNING: I'm pretty sure that to use Corva's Icon pack you need to be running the game using High Textures. if not the game would crash. at least that was the way it was once, i think. Corva? You there? Can you chime in on this? Is this (still) the case? -
and don't sweat not being caught up yet, phil. it just means that GB is still getting used to the new suit changes and his power can only grow as he breaks it in! =)
as for the base, you did a great job. i'm not one for much spatial reasoning, but if i ever have any ideas or requests i'll let you know! -
let's rock! =D the Sentinels got majorly upgraded!
farming is super boring, Philly. it's not what it used to be.
you're better off trying to get on (or build) an 8 man that plows through +2 radios. it goes super fast and those end of mission bonus rewards are very worth it. -
Quote:i usually like that approach as well, but i'm not sure about Uni. his costume is, to me, designed to be very iconic, like Superman. i dunno if i can mess around with it. it took me soooo long to get it right, and many iterations. =)Oh hells yeah. We'll do the aura mish at lvl 30. I think GB's 4th costume would have some sort of glowie aura lol Like his costume is modified every 10 lvls or so to show his progression ...
what do you guys think?
but definitely getting an aura. -
nice. can't wait to see. i always use my 2nd slot for my "off-duty"/secret identity costume.
-
yeah, where is corva anyway? =D i never see him in here. =)
how was running together? he'll catch up soon enough, he's busy making pretty pictures for the game. =) i haven't tried the new enhancement pack yet. i should do that. -

Quote:you could keep the bio mostly the same, maybe just make a note about how recent surprising developments have shown that the suit can also augment your mental abilities or latent psychic potential. maybe something like that?Ran with CORVA'NA last night, good times. Almost caught up. I think I'll try to get up to 22 tonight, so I can slot lvl 25 IO's ...
Still trying to figure out the new bio for GB. I suck at writing stuff like that!
it continues to unravel its alien mysteries to you... -
Cooooool =) i love the golden blasts.
-
DOOOOooooOOOOOooooMMMMMM!
oh, and GB is a Blaster now. =) -
hi all,
in your experience, are there any powers that one should avoid putting on their custom critters? limit the question to minions, lts and bosses.
any feedback is appreciated.
thanks! -
Quote:we did. the Freakshow one. now we have to find Amanda Gates in Talos.Did we do any of the Mercedes Sheldon missions already? I seem to remember us doing at least the 1st one, but I could be wrong.
And Nova, I'm eager to show off the new and improved GB
i want to see the colors of your secondary =) -
