When I first started to play I wanted to explore everything, and then I moved from Atlas Park to King's Row. What I love about Atlas Park is that there are so many neat landmarks and features within view of each other, that you can navigate easily without checking the map. Then you reach King's Row where you have a sea of identical buildings (more or less).
Not long after you can handle King's Row the travel powers come, but by then you've got into the bad habit of using the map instead of navigating by sight. Later maps are also bigger, so whatever neat features they have are some distance apart. I'm not keen on big maps for this reason.
There are a number of zones I avoid like the plague unless I have a mission to do there. If I don't know what I want to do I normally fly by Atlas Park to see what's going on under the statue (or look at the new characters arriving and see what people have come up with). Its still one of the most visually pleasing areas (to me).
I don't think they make the best use of space when they design zones. I would love to see a bigger variety. For instance, make part of King's Row into a China Town. All the best cities have one. And what if special events happen at certain times of day? Who wouldn't like to go to Perez Park at midnight and see little furry creatures come out of burrows to do a song and dance? Er... -
I'm guessing the OP is on a French or German server. I play on the two English EU servers, and there are always people running about. Even when I'm off sick and I log in during work hours I bump into plenty of other players. And Going Rogue is going to rule.

Quote:Actually, I'm doing that right now. I got my first level 50 hero the other day, and now I'm working on my villain. I haven't explored much of the villain side so its helping to spice things up a bit.One thing I'd suggest is to check out villainside, if you haven't already. It's not perfect, but it does mostly avoid many of the problems outlined in this thread: hunt missions, excessive inter-zone travel, hidden kill-alls, simultaneous glowy clicks, fed-exes...

I'd like to see the ability to make choices which influence the outcome of a story arc. I'd like to see this incorporated into task forces as well. Perhaps whenever a decision has to be made, a box pops up for each member asking which way they would vote. The leader gets the deciding vote if there's a tie.

I only read up to page 5 and then skipped to the end, but I wanted to throw in my 2 inf.
I'm still a relative newbie compared to most. I played a two week trial after someone gave me a code. Later I bought my own copy and got 45 days with that. I've just recently resubscribed, and I'm 2 weeks into a 3 month subscription. I spent months away from the game between each of these times, and the game already feels repetitive.
I decided to rejoin after hearing about power customization, and also because I was curious about the mission architect. I tried it out for a few days, but I was disappointed that none of the teams I joined wanted to do any story arcs, they just wanted to farm xp. In the end I gave up on AE and solo'd the last 3 or 4 levels to get my first level 50.
I hope issue 16 modifies the AE enough to discourage farming. It would be nice to find an AE team and actually explore some good creations. I'm also looking forward to Going Rogue. I like the sound of having options and exploring the grey areas. I hope it expands the AE so that I can use some of that in my own creations.
I'm the kind of guy that likes deep content, and I love to explore a bit too. Sometimes I just like flying around zones and admiring them, though some are better than others. The best ones have lots of interesting landmarks like Atlas Park, though even that has a few areas where its one identical warehouse after another.
Unlike a previous poster, I'm actually in favour of smaller maps. I like it when you bump into other players, and some maps are so big you might never see another person around. The best thing about the game is the social aspect.
The most fun I ever had was doing the task force on Cimerora. We had a varied team so everyone had something useful to do, and everyone was friendly and had a good sense of humour. Its not always easy to find good teams though. -
I've always wanted to make a Chinese warrior dude that throws green lightning around.
A character with pink ice attacks, or maybe yellow. Then I can make yellow snow gags.
Another thing, I've also been wanting to make a vampire-like character for a long time, and now I can make their attacks blood red. That would be cool too. -
Thanks for the compliment.
Ok, I'll change it for now, and then tinker with it again when I16 comes out. Thanks for your help!
Edit: Ok, I set the minimum level to 50. -
Doh! Maybe that's where I'm getting confused.
Anyways, as promised earlier the arc is 307274. -
Thanks for the reply. I unpublished the mission when I thought it was broken, as I didn't want low ratings from xp farmers. Later on I'll republish it and put the number up here.
I don't think #1 was the problem, as the enemies were all red and orange. As for #3, the mission was published at the time, and I'm pretty sure we played it normally.
#2 might have something to do with it, but I'm not sure. We had a range of levels - some low levels and some 50's - but I was the leader and I thought everything was scaled to the leader's level.
The same group played some other missions while I wasn't the leader, and we all earned XP despite the difference in levels. Have I just misunderstood how it works? :/ -
Thanks, but there's no button there. :/
Edit: Ok, I got around it. I had to start a new subscription, buy the token, and then cancel the subscription. I just hope no extra time will be added to my account as I like to take breaks now and then. -
Hi, I want to rename one of my characters, but it says I need to have a credit card on file. I've looked around on my account page, but I can't see a link for adding my credit card information. There is a Credit Card on File section, but it says "none", and there's no button to update it. How the heck to I add my info?

No, this was after I published it. The characters I used to test it solo earned XP, it was just the group that didn't.

Hi, I'm a newbie to the MA but I've been enjoying it a lot. I love being able to make custom bad guys and storylines, and I've recently been working on my first mission.
The map is pretty simple - its a random, medium sized, CoH office building. There's a boss to fight, and two hostages to rescue, and a couple of patrols. The bad guys are a custom group made up mostly of minions, and the odd leiutenant. The group has no bosses, but the mission boss is a special character from another custom group.
I tested with characters of various levels, but last night I tried it for the first time with a high level group, and I don't think any of us were getting XP from the bad guys. I don't understand why, and I haven't been able to figure it out. I want to fix it before asking another group to test, because the group I was with last night were a bit annoyed that they weren't getting any for it. They were kind enough to finish it anyway to help me test though.
So, does anyone have any ideas why it might be borked? I don't want to change things unless I know they're the cause of the problem.
Is it because the group doesn't have any bosses? I don't see why this should matter as all the minions were orange and red, and even minions in regular groups give *some* XP.
I think the character I was using at the time of creation was a low level. Would this make a difference? The mission is open to all levels, so I figured it would scale up or down depending on the players.
Its a fun tool, but its really confusing!

One other thing, while messing around making my own groups, I deleted some that I didn't like. In some parts of the MA, such as trying to add a captive, it shows a list of the old groups that I deleted, instead of the new groups that I have now. There's a workaround, but its slipped my mind for a minute. Is this a known bug? -
Congratulations to the winners! I didn't win, but I got to join the SG. ^^

Ok, I'll be there. My toon is called Jungle Avenger.
-
Is there a level requirement or anything? Funnily enough I just made a new character this morning who is quite cat like.

I don't know if this is anything to do with issue 12. I was having mapserver connection problems days before the issue was released. I don't know if that's linked to the bug, but both times I've encountered it have been during times when the connection to the mapserver is very dodgy. I've been using pingplotter (before and after issue 12), and the problem seems to be at IP address 195.66.224.167 (cr02.ldn01.pccwbtn.net).

Happened to me once. I used my Pocket D VIP Pass and returned to the area later. That's the only time I've seen it though.

I've made a couple of low level villains to mess about with on my trial. It seems that no matter which contact I select after character creation, I end up spawning next to Kalinda. This doesn't happen with heroes, who spawn next to the selected contact. What's going on?
