This is the first build I've ever made completely from scratch. I have ZERO experience with claws or electric armor, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. As far as goals go, I'm looking to try and make an all around character. I have 'a farmer' so I'm not really concerned with doing that. TFs, missions, and incarnate content is basically what I'm going for. A few areas I'm specifically concerned with:
-Power selections: Like I said, I have no experience with claws. Is eviscerate worth getting? If so, what should I drop to get it? I was also debating grounded vs. power surge. I'm not a huge fan of powers that leave you completely drained, but I know it looks cool and is actually a very good power. Any thoughts on that?
-Focus slotting: It doesn't seem like the best idea to slot a ranged attack with a full taunt set, but the bonuses are too good. Would I be better off just taking taunt here instead?
-Epic power pool: In a perfect world, I'd like to take soul. Gloom, dark oblit, and darkest night are all very appealing. I just couldn't figure out how to get them to work slot wise to stay soft capped and be effective. Maybe if I'm blatantly missing something I could switch to that over Mu?
Anyway, any general advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated. I can probably work in purple sets, but one thing that is still a bit out of my reach is the +3% def all PvP set piece, so that's out of the question. Thanks for the help!

Hello,
I'm looking for a bit of advice on my fire/kin build.. I've spent the majority of my time on this game playing melee characters. My knowledge of ranged/holds/immob sets is somewhat lacking because of this. My goal for the build was to get s/l capped, and have some decent aoe damage to go along with that. I'd also like to note I'm not dead set on these powers, or the slotting of inertial reduction / speed boost, things like that. I'm just looking for some general advice on how to make this better.
I know slotting two sets of kinetic combat (or slotting boxing at all) probably isn't the best way to cap on a controller, but I'm stuck with my knowledge of melee sets. I'm also not sold on how to slot char / fire cages / hot feet, so some advice on those would be very helpful as well.

I've been playing CoX on and off for a few years now. I've never really designed an entire build by myself, but I finally think I have a basic understanding of the IO system, and have been working towards building an invul brute. I finally decided on WM as a primary set.. here's the result. My goal is to be able to take a beating on teams/TFs, while dishing out some respectable damage. I'm not really interested in soloing, and I'm always playing with a kin or thermal, depending on her mood.
So I guess my questions are: Do I have enough defense, assuming I'm going to be near mobs? Is my slotting in general ok? I feel like my build up / endurance skills are a little shaky.

(Also, I am by NO means an expert on slotting and defense/resistance stuff. I've also never played with either of these power sets)

Hey everyone,
So I've been playing this game on and off for about three years now. I've turned to the forums here many times to get some ideas for builds, what works with what, etc. My problem, as it seems to be the case with many people, is I can't really decide on what character I want to invest in to play as a 'main' so to speak.
I am making progress, though. I've decided on a super strength brute. What I can't decide on, however, is the secondary. Currently, I have a 50 /stone, 30 some /WP, and a /FA in the teens. What I'm trying to decide is which one to stick with.
Admittedly, I know very little about IO sets or defense/resistance mechanics, soft capping, etc. My stone brute has 3 or 4 sets in various powers, but the suggestions were taken from builds on the forum. What I plan to do mainly is team. I don't really have any interest in soloing. I don't want to make this character to specifically tackle the hardest content in the game, as I'm much more of a casual player. My main concern is playing something that doesn't fall over and die every third group. That's not to say I want to exclusively build to be a pseudo tanker, I enjoy SMASH! with the best of them. I just don't want to be squishy enough to be a pain to keep alive. I spent a good deal of time on my /stone a few months back, and remember feeling like a rock (ha!). I've played a few other brutes with various different power sets and just -hate- when I feel too squishy. I know theoretically everything should be sturdy once enough influence is invested, but I don't have too much to go around.
I know the old saying "play what you enjoy the most" holds true, but quite honestly I'm pretty indifferent among the three sets. I've been browsing this forum quite a bit the past few days, as well as playing all three characters, and can't come to a conclusion. I consider myself a pretty decent player, but I just don't really know much about the technical aspects of each build. I'll also mention a play with a kin 90% of the time, so the speed aspect of stone is somewhat irrelevant. So I guess my questions are:
Will /FA be sturdy enough to not get frustrated on my small budget?
How hard is it to deal with alpha strikes without many IO sets on /WP?
Is agro a big problem with /WP?
Which should I play?! (ok ok, I know that's hard to answer)
If anyone has any input to share with any of these three builds, that would be greatly appreciated! This turned out to be a bit longer than I was expecting, thanks for taking the time to read!
