EDIT: just thought of something, seeing hami can attack while held, will he spawn mitos as well? Doubt it though, as otherwise they could just make him immune to holds

    Here's a hint

Empath on his own = poor.

2 Blasters on their own vs 4 Stalkers = Quite poor.

    2 Blaster + 1 Empath vs 4+ Stalkers = Win.

    Balancing is completely borked.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I freely admit to not being a 'l33t' PvP player, but in my own experience, PvP is far from that predictable. Perhaps it becomes so at the very highest levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    <snip>
My point in this instance is that 1 player, an Empath, can turn the tables so completely on what was a one sided bout. Not just make it more even, i mean totally send the balance the otehr way. CM+Tactics = big problem for stalkers. Add Fort on each of their likely targets and they were really struggling. As i said in the toehr post. Empath + 2 Blaster + 1 Controller, (yes 4 man team) Basically defeated a continual onslaught from 8 or more villains. Which if memory servers, included mainly stalkers and brutes, but 1 necro mastermind and 1 corrupter.
    <snip>

    [/ QUOTE ]

It turns the tide, because the empath is the adversary of the stalker (teamed of course). Brutes also aint very efficient if a blaster can kill em before they build up fury (which they can with fortitude with maybe a little addon of defiance). To counter said empath, bring a corrupter or dominator in the mix, to counter the controller, bring a MM.

As said before, 4 of the same type aint a good way to build a team. Of course you as you said mainly killing stalkers is an example of how one-sided PvP in the zones currently is most of the times. When I go to a PvP zone, 90% of the villains there (if not 100%) are stalkers. Bring in a balanced hero team, and they dont pose a threat.

You say "i think to enjoy it you have to have a PvP capable toon". Well, I bet most of the stalkers there are PvP builds, cause I barely see em around in PvE . Add to that that stalkers inherently got an advantage in PvP (hide) and you see why theyre so popular in the zones. However, with PvE teambuild with said 2 blasters, empath and controller you still can give them a hard time. Kinda proves you dont need a PvP build doesnt it?

Of course, if the hardcore PvPers bring in balanced PvP teams to the zone in an attempt of coordinated huntin, sure, you'll die a fair bit more, but still with PvE builds you stand a chance. Most of the toons I bring to PvP are PvE builds (and 2 semi-PvP builds, which only included swappin 2 powers and in no way harms their PvE game). Yet I dont qualify myself as a bad PvPer, and neither do people whom I've fought with dedicated PvP builds.
  7. it aint invite-only afaik, just type /chanjoin "union badgehunters" and it should work iirc

    Barracuda TF?

Reading the prima guide's badge list I came upon this one:

Dreamkiller - Complete Barracuda's Task Force

My question is, does anybody know lvl range and how to start it? Checked the rest of the prima guide, but there is no mention of it other than in the badge list. So hope any of you know more about it...
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Limited knowledge:

Beating up (lots?) Bane Spiders on the North beach of Grandeville makes it spawn. Its a lvl 50 Transport (GM), which dumps a lot of Bane Spiders while you try and bash it.

Not done it or anything myself, thats just what I've heard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

theres a whole section in the prima guide:

    [ QUOTE ]

Arachnos frequently sends aerial patrols down into the Gutter to curb any hostile activities and to
provide valuable combat experience for its troops. Every 2–4 hours (real time) and during dusk (game
time), a large transport emerges from the hangar atop the Watchtower and slowly descends to the
lowest levels of Grandville. During transit to its drop zones, the transport will have an incredibly
powerful shield active, protecting it from all attacks. When it reaches its drop zones, the transport will
lower its shields to engage its attacks. Also, 7–12 Bane Spiders will teleport from the ship down to the
ground. These troops attack any unallied targets in the area, which typically end up being Arachnoids
or player Villains. If there is nothing about, the Bane Spiders stand guard for a short while. Pay very
special attention to both the squads and the flier; troops occasionally radio for backup.
You also need to be highly coordinated; the transport will only be vulnerable once it reaches its drop
zones. Also, the transport possesses exceedingly potent weapon systems with very long ranges. Proceed
with extreme caution. The Bane Spiders and transport spawn within the level range 45–54, but the
transport is considered a “giant monster” and thus is equally deadly to players of all levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And some info bout the GM itself:

    [ QUOTE ]

The Arachnos Flyers are used primarily for troop deployment. If you see one, run.

    Powers/Abilities:
    Disruption Blast: Moderate damage
    Disintegration Beam: Moderatedamage

  10. sign me up on @stagefright, I'll bring my robo/poi MM for some regen debuff goodness

also im pretty sure I can gauge some interest amongst SG/Friends

PS. if you got a date, might post it on union badgehunters global chan as well, dont think chances are very high members of that chan like to show up for the free-for-all and make badgehuntin harder.
  11. take it you mean striga ferry, striga side? anyway, my scrapper is still stuck on striga anyway so I'll be around

    [ QUOTE ]
Yup. This goes out especially to people that say PvP doesn't work in this game. Solo, I'd agree. But team PvP is where it's at. Pretty much all the best moments I've had in this game have been when in a decent team PvP situation (S4 especially. Two organised teams going at it, such great fun.)

I urge everyone who's had a bad PvP experience to get a team together and head to Sirens one night. Trust me, you'll love it. Especially if there's a decent team on the other side.

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFT - ask a couple of level 50s in the zone if you can hang with them since it's likely they're PvPing. Teams mean more bounty and you will find you get a genuinely enjoyable experience if there is a decent villian group to face you AND SOs if your team get the arrests / kills in

    [/ QUOTE ]

well if you go sirens, 30+ generally means its a PvP team (as you can only get mishes up to lvl 30). Or of course ask a team in the zone if they are a PvP team thats what I always do on my troller. I got no chance solo, being earth/storm, hurray for high dmg at lvl 30 *AHEM* (do have a chance of course, but its boring holding your opponent to death/arrest). Thus team PvP is the way forward, and team PvP 'owns' solo PvP everyday of the way (including wednesday!!!)

  17. count me in with my lvl 25 scrapper (DM/SR) or if there is enough dmg and lack of tankin I could bring my Ice Tank and exemp down
  18. hm sounds a bit like regen blasters indeed I think they'll be VERY nasty to take down, and about organizing, I'd reckon you just pick a partner to keep buffin.

Name any set, and there can be thought of a counterpart for that set

maybe a lil tip for other events.. try to finalise the rules BEFORE opening signups
  22. [ QUOTE ]
From what I could see of the heroes team there was no Empath, just 4 or 5 spines regen, a MA regen Scrapper and a tanker of some kind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

maybe one (or more) of em had tactics? if they did, they were prolly meant to hunt down stalkers

    [ QUOTE ]
On the stealth point, I don't see where I could fit stealth into my build

    [/ QUOTE ]
fair point, always make the build as you deem fit, thats what I do. However take in mind that players who min/max their build for PvP will always have the upper hand over you in PvP. Course a reply now could be "why do I have to have a seperate PvP build to PvP?", which is a fair remark indeed, one thats been discussed many many times. However, this doesnt only apply to PvP but for PvE as well. Min/maxers in PvE will also have the upper hand in one specific aspect and will prolly be worse in PvP. Just like PvP builds might not work in PvE. Problem is, in PvP you notice it more as you are on the receiving end of it . This doesnt mean that non-PvP specific builds dont work in PvP. My MM (robo/poison) is PvE built, and even before the bodyguard function, I could be a thorn in the side of many a hero I fought. Course I got beaten a fair share of times by PvP builds. But like I said, thats the risk of PvPing.. there are people who fully gear their character to PvP.

    [ QUOTE ]

(note no placate or buildup below 30 as it is)

    [/ QUOTE ]

ok, whole PvP/PvE build aside.. going into PvP without placate or buildup on a stalker is practically suicide. Placate is the tool that will keep you alive vs at least 1 scrapper and buildup is needed to kill those pesky regens. After all, regens are strong in prolonged battle, but 1 or 2 shortly following heavy blows will get em just as dead.

    [ QUOTE ]
The whole +ACC doesn't seem fair either, why should one power pretty much make my entire secondary set redundant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats CoX PvP... one big game of rock-paper-scissors.. Every set has its counterpart, it aint just +acc vs +def. If that IS your main issue, bring a darkie to debuff that acc just as soon as they get it . No set has the upper hand (e.g. it cant be nullified by nother power) over the other. Regen is strong, but bring a robo-nin/dark-poison MM and you'll shred em (robo/dark for instance after you get dark servant has 5 -regen powers), also as said before ice/cold, ice/therm, ice/rad and ice/kin corrupters can kill /regen scrappers as well. Use the secondary to cripple their regen and/or end recovery, then use ice primary to slow down their attacks (so they also cant use instant healing that often) and they wont pose much of a threat.

Name any set, and there can be thought of a counterpart for that set You as defbased stalker should just be careful of people with -def (e.g. rads) or +acc (e.g. tactics, fortitude, etc). Course +acc is more dangerous than -def as SR has some def debuff resistance
  23. though you might have had a bad experience, your drawn conclusions aint really accurate.

    [ QUOTE ]

    1) Unless you are a spines regen scrapper you are [censored] and will die
    2) Hide is worthless as every body can see through it
    3) SR is useless and as you don't get a heal your just gonna die.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Spines/Regen indeed are FotM for PvP, and indeed they ARE pretty powerful, however far from unbeatable. Prob is, bout the only villains visiting sirens are stalkers, and stalkers got quite a big chance of gettin their [censored] handed over on a silver platter. Bring and ice/cold, ice/rad or ice/kin corrupter for instance, and spiney wont be that tough anymore.

Bout seeing through hide and hitting through SR the next 2 questions spring to mind:
    a) are you using only hide or hide+stealth?
    b) was there a hero using tactics in the team? Or an empath spamming CM and fort on mr spiney?

People dont normally see through hide, but seeing that CM and tactics both got +perception you need more protection than hide to stay invis (say hide+stealth). Tactics havin its acc bonus (or fort) will go through your SR. SR is far from weak in PvP, however when people get spammed by acc buffs they WILL hit you through it. Also I take it you got all SR powers up to 30 and slotted em with SOs?

Only suggestion I can give, is when you go to a PvP zone, an all-stalker team isnt as effective as it looks, cause a decent balanced hero team will kick your [censored] with relative ease.

    [ QUOTE ]

    4) The 'improvements' to hospitals in PvP zones now mean that most of the action now takes place while waiting for your rest to recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

IIRC, this was done to simulate the tactical start in arena battles. When you go to hosp you now get 1 hp and 1 end. This was also to stimulate people usin tactics as dying now actually slows you down rather than "click go to hosp, back in fight 2 secs later". Opinions are divided on this one, and something can be said for both sides of the argument.

    [ QUOTE ]

    5) Teleport foe doesn't need line of site and seems to totally ignore SRs defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or of course they got it 3slotted with acc and received an acc buff or 2

    [ QUOTE ]

    6) Heroes are spawn point lhamams just waiting for someone to pop their head over the wall so they can gank em.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sadly this happens alot when one side greatly outnumbers the other. Doesnt only happen with heroes, but villains do the same. Dont forget that earlier a stalker could sneak into the hero hospital and gank heroes who tried to rez there (and it happened).. now thats even worse than waiting outside imo. Prob is, there currently are more heroes than villains and personally I like playin hero ATs in PvP better than villain ATs. This ensues that most of the times there are more heroes than villains which will result in camping the villain base.

Reason why people head to the other side's base is that they are tired of hunting around the zone not finding anybody. The 'logical' thing to do then (note the ') is to head to the source where there are bound to come villains sooner or later. If thats only 1 vs 8 of them doesnt seem like an issue to most sadly.

Personally I hate ganking and wont join in if people start doin it. However there are alot of ppl who dont think like this and have no problem camping the base happily ganking everybody on sight. Yes, it can be annoying. Yes, you might call the people doing it "lame". However, generalizing that EVERY hero in the PvP zone is a lamer that likes to camp villain base and gank everything is not fair for people PvPin for the sport of it.

There are alot of good PvPers out there that DONT camp 'n gank. Just because this one incident occurs, and dont get me wrong, i understand it might [censored] ppl off if its their first time, doesnt mean you can generalize the whole hero population as a ganksquad.

Only thing I can recommend is, when going to sirens (or any PvP zone), bring some support or at least check in the search window if there are any non-stalker ATs there. Stalkers arent the king of PvP zones as people might make you believe. Sure they are powerful, but if a hero team gets perception buffs and some acc buffs to boot, a stalker will be receivin tickets to the hospital pretty soon.
