To me the most interesting part is suggesting that new alts would start as neutral and become heroes or villains through their actions, though probably in my case by the time I got to 50 I'd still be a damn neutral fence sitter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I'd imagine a Merc would stick right down the middle, depending on who paid the most. Then again, one might say that'd shift his morality meter anyway.
(And who's morals would it be based on anyway?)
[/ QUOTE ]
Valkryst suggested something like this a couple of weeks ago.
Original thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wonder how long ago the survey went out? And if it's been recently, does that prove that the devs do in fact read the boards? -
Nah, it was the Arachnos crates I noticed it on. Haven't been to Grandeville yet to see if the city walls are still showing areas of blackness though.

Fixed in the most recent patch:
[ QUOTE ]
Compatibility
Resolved issue of certain geometry displaying black textures with Nvidia GeForce 8+ series video cards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. Still happening, exactly the same.
Anyone else? -
[ QUOTE ]
But yes, let us know what you guys think about what you heard / read so far, so we can feed that into the discussion as the European point-of-view.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not the European pov, but my own
Just based on these points:
[ QUOTE ]
1.) New high level Space Station Zones (PVE, PVP, & Co-op)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes please, with the story of it tied into The Coming Storm
[ QUOTE ]
2.) Characters that do not wish to change sides are rewarded by becoming exemplary heroes or villains, and earning rewards not available any other way
[/ QUOTE ]
Is this fixed? Can you change your mind later? Will that require a respec?
[ QUOTE ]
3.) Heroes and villains who go to the other side can also act as Double-Agents
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? Sounds intriguing but has to be handled in such a way that it either offers something new or doesn't preclude anything old.
[ QUOTE ]
4.) Character Creator 2.0 includes Powers Customization, allowing players to customize not only the character, but also the actual look of its powers
[/ QUOTE ]
Hell yes! Bring it!
[ QUOTE ]
5.) Players undertake missions that define their character's morality and steer them in a more heroic or villainous direction
[/ QUOTE ]
Using existing missions? Maybe not. Rewritten missions with branching choices? Yes please.
[ QUOTE ]
6.) By switching sides (going from good to bad or bad to good), players can access content "on the other side" (heroes can experience villain zones and content, and villains can experience hero zones and content)
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure how this will tie in with rewritten stuff, but does sound promising from a personal story pov.
[ QUOTE ]
7.) Completely new low-level player experience/zones for new characters in which new characters do not begin a hero or villain, rather become one or the other through early gameplay
8.) New Spy Archetype, Power Sets & Costumes
[/ QUOTE ]
These two sound linked.
[ QUOTE ]
9.) Universal Enhancement Slots - at level 50, these enhance powers to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots
[/ QUOTE ]
Would need to see if it follows the old mantra of isn't necessary, but is nice to have from a PvE pov.
I like the mission creator screen. Seems fairly simple and intuitive. I'd like to see that asap.
As for whether it's a new Issue or a paid for expansion, it doesn't bother me either way. I'll happily pay for any 2 items from that last, although I'd prefer all of them. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Ten Universal Enhancement Slots are available to be earned in the expansion, and each one has the potential of adding significant power to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots.
[/ QUOTE ]
This worries me a great deal.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, sounds like it'd have quite an impact on PvP, if not PvE. -
The moral compass is an intriguing idea. Would it add a layer of KOTOR/Mass Effect style subtlety to the game or would it just annoy people who couldn't get access to missions because they spent the first 30 levels bouncing cars off of people's heads?
And which is more likely?
"Sorry, I must decline your mission because I am trying to attain the ultimate dark powers."
or
"No wai! Not doing ur mish, u not unlocking my morals!" (this should be an immediate swing to the left on any meter) -
[ QUOTE ]
We do, don't we?
[/ QUOTE ]
This thread, for example? (And when did you start calling yourself "The masses"?) -
[ QUOTE ]
Love the idea of going rogue, although I dunno if I could do it with my main, he's just not meant to be evil at all! Still.. if it meant you could get more badges... we'd have to watch Golden Girl go mad not wanting to turn to the darkness whilst craving those shinies...
[/ QUOTE ]
City Of Heroes -- bringing unexpected entertainment to the masses since 2004. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wasn't City of Spies suggested a long, long, long time ago as the fabled 3rd Expansion before it got canned/Emmert buggered off?
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe so. I can't imagine that they'd want to split the playerbase any further after Heroes/Villains, so adding it in as a new AT may be what they're looking at doing now.
Then again, these surveys may come back and say "KEEP THINGS AS THEY ARE DUDES!" and nothing will come of them. -
[ QUOTE ]
I wonder how a Spy AT would work?
[/ QUOTE ]
Based on how the game works right now? Capable of jumping between sides, doing standard missions but with Kheldian/VEAT style (no wait, not VEAT, I'd like something more detailed than a couple of missions) story arcs every 5 levels which change dependent on your moral compass.
The AT itself might be the only one capable of swapping between sides on the fly and it's powers will be that of a Stalker/Blaster cross.
That's one theory, anyway. -
A lot of it is obvious. It's not a survey that allows for much beyond what's been asked for (heh, the post on the Champions forums is accusing NCSoft of ripping off all of Cryptic's ideas, which is pure comedy in itself).
It probably is a mock up, but it's included to say, would you pay for this or do you want a lesser version for free maybe.
And given that the minority (ie the forumgoers) killed the paid expansion last time, it's probably a good idea not to speak to them about it again -

[/ QUOTE ]
Probably a hoax; the grammar's atrocious.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's apparently real. At least NCSoft came out (about time too) and confirmed they'd sent the survey out. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can't view the picture, and thanks, I'm now depressed. I was looking forward to that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Picture linked above? It's on Paragonwiki. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's Player Created Content, which is already slated for an upcoming free expansion, maybe even I13.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's still not confirmed though (when it is, rather than yes it's happening). I think, if it's genuine, that image is the first hint of what the creator will look like. If it is genuine, it certainly seems to hint at allowing story arcs and debunks the "build your own maps from various tilesets" idea.

Our marketing department has been working on survey research for City of Heroes. The goal is to get valuable player input. We are testing multiple ideas and features, and this research will help guide our development efforts
[/ QUOTE ]
Definitely looks like NCSoft are testing the waters for a new expansion/new ways to play the game etc. Also suggests that the Mission Creator won't be in Issue 13. -
[ QUOTE ]
'Going Rogue' has been suggested as a potential mechanism since CoV came out Aardy (I'd imagine you're aware of that).
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes. Heck, it's something else to debate, that's why I linked it here. It's been largely dismissed over on the US boards too
Edit: At least until an NCSoft rep stepped in and confirmed that it was their doing - see below. -

New expansion?
Looks like a survey for a new expansion. Certainly something that NCSoft has put out there. Nothing definite, but very interesting if it comes to pass.
For those too lazy to click on the link, here's some of the things in the survey that NCSoft definitely put out (See post below for link to confirmation).
DOES NOT MEAN IT'S DEFINITELY GOING TO HAPPEN, BUT IT IS BEING CONSIDERED

Many happy returns Spawnus. Hope you get birthday goodies. (Or birthday Goonies. That'd be cool.)

There aren't enough sodding complaints on this board. Why by going by the standard pedigree of forum complaining, this place suffers a mite.
Just because your complaint isn't really valid or, indeed, rational, you keep it to yourselves? Let the bile out chaps and chapettes!
In fact, given the scant disregard of the complaints which the pedigree shows up, I have to say that you people sicken me!
Get it sorted out. Now! -

strange languages such as scottish.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like to complain about this post, but all I know how to say is "Och aye the noo" (because every Scottish person is identical, just the same as every English person speaks with BBC accents, except the yokels) -
I'd like to complain that nobody knows how to complain anymore. When discussing the game of City Of Heroes, I expect multiple references to ED or GDN without explanation of what those things are and then dismissal of anyone who dared to join the game after those events.
There should also be random moments OF CAPitalISATION, which COMPLEtely end up MISsing the POINT of ShOUTING and simply make the poster look like an INEBriated WillIAM SHATner/BRIAN BLESSed cross.
And no complaint is complete without getting personal. As in, the developers of this game obviously want to destroy it because THEY'RE getting rid of THE THING THAT I COMPLAIN ABOUT THE MOST.
It's obvious to me that they hate this game and want to destroy their source of income by getting rid of us all, because I, as a lone person, know more about the industry and how it works than EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN A COMPANY WHO WORKS IN THE INDUSTRY!!!
The spelling is also too good in most complaints. Sort that out pronto. -

Messed a banner (which I'd checked all of and still couldn't find it) and a bookcase.
