  1. Oh actual topic: I think one of the biggest things you touched on in your first post is that you think its impossible to tell what a person is thinking through simple words alone and... well, I agree that it is harder to understand a person's meaning by words alone its not entirely impossible. I mean, why would we even have an option to reply. We're expected to read what has been posted and then decide on the proper reply. The issue arises when people misinterpret (Which can be for many reasons: cultural or regional differences, improper use of grammar/wording, lack of education/understanding on one side or the other, etc.).

Now, I think we'd gotten into a debate before which had turned a bit heated. I know I was rather upset because I misconstrued your post as an attack on my personal opinion, one I felt was due to a lack of information given on your part but, as others had jumped to defend you, or at least one that I recall, I think I might have been wrong. I'm simply used to being flamed myself and well, I have a terrible habit of expecting the worst from people. Either way, I probably should apologize for that incident. So... sorry, or something along those lines. I hate admitting I may have been wrong. -_-

Anyway, I guess my biggest thing to say is really, just watch what you say/type and just use a bit of good judgement. I like a bit of crass poor humor myself but until everyone knows you well, its probably not the best idea to use it... or, at least until you're sure the setting is right for it. I dunno where the racist topic came from but if you apologized (And the apology came off as sincere and not (Pfft, yeah. Sorry. Whatever.) and they still pushed your buttons... I dunno. Sucks, but that's the internet. Sorry people are ********?

You don't seem like a terrible person but judging from my few encounters with you here, you might be a bit short tempered to really be getting into discussion and throwing out your opinion in the 'short and simple' version. :/
  2. Now, yeah, I'm sorta miffed I missed the event but I think there's something that needed to be said here: Thank you for making this happen. There's tons of other MMOs out there without these kind of events and we're really lucky to see these things happen. So seriously, thank you for making this game my game of choice.

    Cheer-

    That ninjadude.

    Let's Go Farming

Too early to say. Besides, according to the script we're supposed to play along for a bit and pretend this is the real Mondo until something... plot relevant happens. I haven't read that far ahead yet. -_-
  4. Unforgiven. Not just a good movie. A state of mind.

    Blueside is dead

I read the thread name and started singing Rock is Dead.

Blue side is deader than dead...
  6. Ya know, I can forgive just about anything if somebody just tells me, "Don't judge me, I'm drunk."

I don't believe I ever said there wasn't RP there that one might find enjoyable, only that I feel there's a slim chance of cleaning up the D's reputation. I'm not entirely sure what you are getting at or why what you posted is in any relation to my own...
  8. Well, at this point, the damage is done. There's really no 'cleaning up the D's reputation.' If people are shying away from the D because of its reputation they're probably too squeamish to be there anyway.

But hey, we all have our tastes and enjoyment levels. Just like movies and shows and music and whatever... We're not all going to enjoy the same thing.

    *stops typing*
That. Does it really matter if Pocket D has a stigma?
  10. You know what they say about one night in Bangkok...

/e scratches the back of his head.

Really, that's all I can remember... something about a night in Bangkok. Figure I'll stop off there myself and see what the whole fuss is about. Though... spacecream sounds really good...

    Also: Morning/afternoon all.
  11. Well, there really should be a distinction there. I didn't see it. It really just came across to me as 'People who dislike the D and say so suck because they suck' in the short hand. I mean, I'm glad it really meant 'people who grief the D suck because they suck' but... I dunno. It didn't seem so clearly defined to me.

While yes, you didn't out right say 'This is what people are: (Insert list here)' you did say 'This is my take on things:' and then listed only negative archetypes... which really only gave the impression (To me, as I can only speak for myself) that the reason Pocket D has a negative stigma to it is because of a-holes like the ones you listed.

    2. Some people are just too narrow minded to consider that even if someone does ERP perhaps they're not the basement dwelling mouth breathing loser they seem to so strongly wish they were
    3. Some people seem fixated on the whole 'no girls on the internet thing' so much so I question whether the males that say this perhaps aren't gay and hoping for an all male utopia ( IT'S RAININ MEN! )
    4. People from a certain chan. Nuff said.
    5. Some are simply talking out their ****. Looking for drama, thriving off drama and arguing/starting trouble just to argue/start trouble because they can't feel self important without it
    6. The above + Low self esteem = Half the retards who get into arguments on the internet
Basically I think there's a stigma because people want there to be a stigma. Otherwise they'd have to find something else to complain about so they can feel important.
Or perhaps as some people in this thread have mention they just don't buy into that style and/or setting of/for roleplaying and when asked they explain such things. Simply because some people have a more conservative view on what they like/dislike does not automatically make a person a raving, overly vocal a-hole.

Though, generalizing all the people who dislike Pocket D into immature, narrow-minded, temperamental or argumentative groups... makes you appear much like the people you are speaking down too. In fact, THAT is why the zone gets its bad name: broad, sweeping generalizations that touch upon your personal opinion on the matter but don't recognize and respect the choices of those you disagree with.

That is the million dollar question right there.
  14. Ya know, a diner'd actually be really flippin' cool. Though, I second the wish for more bookish heroes to sit around in a library.
  15. I think that's the biggest thing. We all love to complain about it but changing the status quo is never worth the effort needed. I mean, I have my SG base for RP and sitting out in Atlas Park isn't half bad anyway... Though again, my character (while 900% more likely to be seen there than the D) is still probably not gunna hang out there. The Midnighter's Club on the other hand... funny enough.
  16. Zone PvP, while awesome in idea is flawed because not all powersets were created equal. I'd spend a ton of time out in the world fighting if my /SR scrapper didn't get his junk kicked up into his stomach and sent packing back to cry and hug his mother's skirt because defense is such a worthless stat and having a powerset designed around a worthless stat makes a powerset... well, you got it, worthless.

I'd be out fighting villains if my DB/SR scrapper actually had teeth and wasn't a toothless invalid who... well, I don't need to go into all the metaphors and similes. You get my point.
  17. /e politely asks chefbots to add a rather tasty amount of cinnamon and apples to his. Please.

    Mornin' all. And huzzah breakfasts.
  18. If there was a non-club place to sit and RP, like say a coffee shop somewhere or, actually a public park NOT overrun with evilly bad guys. I'd be more likely to go there and RP then off to the D. I mean... none of my characters really would go to a nightclub... Let alone one I've failed to find enjoyment out of previously.

though, really, I'm tired of heroes and villains always working together. The only times I ever see a villain is when its cooperative. Sorta makes villains stop seeming so villainous. So, I totally support the idea of more blue-only and red-only RP spots. That'd be really fun.
  19. /e turns his head to the side as his theme song plays.

Well, better late than never. thanks Kitteh!

/e thumbs up for shrimpy goodness... while nommings some for great justice.
  20. /e noms on his plate of fried shrimp with appropriate amount of buffalo sauce. You can't eat friend food unless you have the appropriate amount of buffalo sauce. Its a rule.

You aren't the only one who didn't get off work... Though let out early is pretty good as a second choice I have to say! Huzzah for not enough workers for a full day! And being sick on fried food day is probably the worst fate ever...

I will enjoy this plate of fried food as if it were my last! In honor of you! SICK PEOPLES! and Kittehs!

/e dramatic pose and backlighting ... ... ... Waits for his theme music to kick in... ... ... Looks around... Sighs and goes to sit down and enjoy his fried food.

Stupid theme song. New I shoulda gotten the reliable one. -_-
  21. Well, the extra tail will work perfect when two people walk by as you are lying on the floor and you have no idea which one you want to whap! more and then look up at them rther disgruntled for being in whaping! distance.

    /e ninja ponders...

I dunno about the legs, though. extra grip on the ball of yarn? Maybe?

/e puts on patent-pending ninja-radiation suit to scratch the kitteh behind the ear.

I'm hoping for snow, too, Rook. A day off'd be nice... -_-

THOUGH, I know I've told a new player once or twice that its a bit of a seedier place but what do you expect from an establishment that freely allows known villains to walk around freely? Secondly, depending on who you ask, Ghost Wake the character or GW the player, you will get a different response. People have brought up the D in-character and Ghost spits venom about it but, GW is basically a paladin archetypal character. Right and wrong are very well defined to him and aiding known super-powered criminals when you have the powers to stop them... that's wrong. He'll grudgingly accept aid from a villain given situations like 'oh noes time and space are in dangers!' or 'Oh noes aliens are invadin's!' but just ignoring people because its their off night? No.

Otherwise? The only reason I don't RP in the D is because I walked around a couple nights back when I started playing and basically got the cold shoulder and listened to a few groups talk about how hot this vampire villain was... What her name was escaped me but she was dressed in a trench-coat and other typical darkity dark clothing. The lines were all PG-13 and limited to sexual innuendos but that line of dialog lasted for longer than I stuck arround which was about 15 minutes of sitting by the bar. Not particularly offensive but not my preferred style of RP. I'd much rather run around fighting evil/saving the universe when I'm in-game.

Ya know, a good bit of the 'honest dislike' of the D probably comes from players like me who went into the D for a few nights and probably just caught a few bad apples and decided to just not go back. I mean, I know not all candy apples taste line they're made of soap but that one I had at the fair when I was ten sure doesn't make me wanna try and test that theory anytime soon... or ever, I guess. Wow that was a while ago... -_-
  23. Its been actually pleasantly chill here, too. It got down to the twenties and everyone around me were scurrying as if the world were ending... I actually heard somebody say bundle up your heaters...

/e noms on some cereal and iced tea.

    Its funn-

    /e eyes the puppeh.

I'm normally a catperson but I'll meet you half way...

/e scratches behind the puppeh's ear.
  24. The big thing though is that you could get into a bit of a jam over using the White Wolf names. The fact that you are saying 'We're using the path system from Vampire and we're using the Houses and lore therein attached to' is enough to get you into hot water. Again, this is a 'could' and not a 'I know you'll get the boot for this!' Plenty of things get overlooked but... its pretty hard to overlook things when there's a bold forum post about it that you can be linked, too.

The other thing about the wiki though is that wiki's strictly state they don't own anything. Technically speaking CoX owns everything ingame and they have the right to go 'nener nener nener you're being a twit' and take it away and if you have a 'V:TM character' complete with all the citations as to the house and path on it... well, I don't think I need to explain that CoX doesn't own anything by White Wolf.
  25. Last Rookery of the year... First Rookery of the year... I think we may have forgotten something important... today is Friday...

/e looks around for diabolical theme-based traps that will inevitably cover him in snowy doom...

Also, something about happy new years or things with shiny objects falling.

    Also, also, Good morning!
