/e plops down as he stares furiously at the phone
Today is my stare at phone and wait for business calls day. So I wait... in the shadows... watching...
/e slides over into the shadows and glares at the phone
Awww... now I'm too far from the phone...
/e slides out of the shadows and back over the the couch
Morning all. -
What everyone has said so far. I'm glad you've enjoyed your experiences here!

Quote:You're right. 'You have bright eyes and a kind soul' would have made you sound like a sissy.

Welcomes and things. Honorary greetings and such. Hellos.
Unrelated note: I F*ing love your avatar, Steele. Flash had some of the best lines in JL and JLU. -
You know Mondo that last one was well done. I almost took you seriously. Just enough believability to it that made me twist my head to the side and go 'not sure if serious.' Though the beginning and the end gave it away. You'd never call somebody a gentleman, especially on the forums.

Ok. Since I was a kid, I've always been that dumb little boy who wanted to grow up to be a ninja. I had ninja turtles, I played ninja gaiden (Its one of my earliest memories of gaming, actually. That and Super Mario but... Mario doesn't make so good a hero), I watched bad kung fu films (Zombies vs. Ninjas anyone?)... some good kung fu films, I had the coolest playset of throwing stars and plastic sowrds of any kid I knew, too.
So, when i came back to playing CoH after a loooong hiatus and they'd finally introduced Dual blades as a powerset... I couldn't resist my childhood dream of being the ninja with a sword in each hand, leaping down from the rooftops, untouchable by enemy hands or weapons. Thus, Ghost Wake was born, Last son of the Ghostwalker ninja clan sent on a mission of vengeance to avenge the death of his brother. In all honesty, it was an exercise in seeing how many cliches I could pile into one character while retaining a logical coherent story.
Overtime he's sorta evolved from a very traditional almost Ninja Gaiden type character who had nothing but two swords and mad ninja skillz to something closer to A Snake Eyes/Dark Knight Detective type character who's got everything plus the kitchen sink at his disposal. -
I approach it the same way. Chances are you're not going to run into a mutant in the butt end of like... Pennsylvania and chances are if a mutant does run through there they're gunna get the 'freak' 'mutie' treatment. Its actually the backstory for my mutant scrapper. he was a mutant that grew up in the backwoods Appalachia and was drove out of town for being different. Lived in the woods for a few years and when he heard about how people with mutant powers are treated as heroes in Paragon City bought a ticket and never looked back.

Quote:Got into this talk with my SG just the other day.
They said the Mutant description says they are feared. But I couldn't find one thing in the game that showed mutants as being feared.
In fact, all the mutant heroes usually get their name in papers, and everyone loves them.
Well, This is where you'll find it: Make a new character. Select the Mutant Description and read it. That's the only ingame reference to them being feared... Maybe thier starting missions but... I can't recall any of those? Otherwise, no, they are treated like every other hero plus, those anti-alien posters are pretty much anti-Rikti from what I gathered, not anti-Kheldian. -
Well, there's a lot of people Ghost Wake would regret saving... Arachnos... Nemesis, Malta, various independent villains and a couple custom villain groups that I've yet to introduce in Ghost's story but there isn't a situation he'd refuse to save someone. In his eyes, it s a dishonorable act and he would be disgraced if that ever happened. Better to die than live in dishonor.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to quote the Rooks 'over nine thousand!' ...? Hm. I have no idea how to punctuate that. Silly Engrish and its silly stuffs.
/e grabs a bagel with cream-cheese for noms and plops down into a beanbag (do they even make those still?) to nom said nommable piece of nom.
/e edits in his hellos to everyone cause forgetful ninjas forget things. -
Edit: Oh Dur, I'm dense. I forgot Thursdays is the night my own SG gets together to run missions. Silly ninja. -_-

These posts make me smile every time. I love hearing from people who have such good experiences.

It had chief O'brian? That might be enough to make me watch it.

Well, that's not entirely true, it says when you pick the mutant origin that while most of the world is pretty indifferent to mutants as an origin there are some people who fear them.
I mean, just check the paragonwiki page for it:
'You were born with abilities which set you apart from the rest of humankind. Your powers manifested at birth, puberty, or possibly adulthood. Mutants are often viewed with awe and fear by those who don't understand them. ... '
I remembered it being worded differently but it gives the basic jist of it. Some people are like 'omg wtf is that its changing its unstable rawr' that is standard fair. Now, I don't think people should really be all 'ALL TEH HUMIES HATEZ ME CUZ I R DIFFERENTY MUTANT RAWR' but like... in the case of my mutant scrapper, he got the snott kicked out of him as a kid growing up in rural Appalachia because well... if there's one thing that backwards hillfolk hate its something that is different and fuzzy beast-boy is generally not normal. Now, He'd figured out not everyone is like that and its why he moved to Paragon, He's pretty much normal there. -
I used to have a friend back in college who could make the noises wookies do... had a body covered in hair and basically... was a wookie... so much so that he once told me his fiance asked him to make wookie noises while they were in bed together. I... had never been so creeped out by nerds before.
/e looks around for a donut to nom.
I need something to shove in my mouth to stop these weird stories from coming out. -
-
True story: I once gave a valentine's Day card to an ex of mine (The card has nothing to do with the reason we broke it off, honest!) that had a big fuzzy wookie on it and read
'You hold the Wookie to my heart.' -

Jade... The way you word nonhostile intentions into passive-aggressive passages astounds me. You're right. Dropping this is probably the best idea you could have. Even if your intentions were good... you don't seem to be able to word things without coming across aggressive and insulting...
You don't try to compliment somebody's dress by saying 'despite being a fat F'er that dress looks good on you.' If you really want to reendear yourself to the community on these forums... try not insulting them and/or calling out their faults in the worst way possible. I mean, I'm trying to be levelheaded here but you really just come across as asking for it. -_- -
Ok. I think both sides need to calm down. After reading through the thread that started this all I was pretty much reassured in my original thought of what happened. Jade, you REALLY need to watch what you say and look over how you say it. Yes, you are entitled to your personal opinion but spouting it off in an aggressive manner doesn't get anyone to listen to you about it.
secondly, I think you're getting saddled with the racism bit unfairly. I mean, I can't count the number of people I've heard making jokes about the infamous 'chinese gold farmers' that run rampant (Insert proper monetary system as applicable) and well, a joke is a joke. I personally felt you did poor on the delivery but that's just me. Though, you are getting hit rather hard with this and finding little sympathy because of your aggressive approach to the portrayal of your opinions on these boards.
Third, I can't stress how much you really need to look over how you word things. In one of your posts you used the phrase 'Look, kid' which, no matter how hard you try argue will 90% of the time indicate you have a higher personal opinion of yourself than the target you are referring to and... that does not make for a likable person. Really, I don't think your a bad person but you need to watch your emotions and watch you wording.
