Did you know...
that the 5th Column took over the original Paragon Dance Party shortly before closing its doors?
The Dev's loaded the Dance Party with 5th Column, I assume, to give it some interest after people slowly stopped visiting and only used it to get from one zone to another.
Either that, the Devs wanted to keep people out of the PDP by loading it with many way-too-high-level purple 5C's.
Did you know...
that it took me over 7 hours to read this entire thread?
[/ QUOTE ]
Your timetable is a bit off. The 5th in the PDP were only there for a few days, during the 5th/Council wars that happened upon the release of Issue 3. That was January, 2005. They were most assuredly gone when the PDP closed its doors in February of the following year, due to the opening of Pocket D. I used to shortcut through there all of the time to avoid the heavy lag of the Talos train station, and left my main parked inside when the patch removing access to it was due to hit the live servers. There were no 5th in there at that time.
Edited: Linky to a thread from the time where we disscussed the 5th's presence in the PDP. -
I love his work. He really made the metallic textures of Iron Man's armor look realistic. I remember reading a comment on that stating that Layton was the one who first made Iron Man's armor shine like a '57 Chevy.

Storyline, but costumes and badges run very close behind. I like bases, but unless you have edit privileges, they likely won't grab your attention.
I really would like to see some advancement in the overall storyline in this game. Even by the standards of comics, the plot here is moving at a snail's pace. I would love to log in someday and reminisce about how we thought the CoT were bad until we got a good look at the Mu, or how some relatively minor little plot point that most of us had seen and forgot about became a driving force for some huge storyline. -

There used to be some nearly impossible to find mission doors due to a navigation bug? One such door was underneath a basketball court in the SW corner of Brickstown (/loc of 367.2 -30.6 2280.1, if you'd like to check it out). The bug was that for some reason, perhaps because it was located below some minimum terrain threshhold, it produced no beacon to follow in your navigation window, and by guesstimating using your map, it lead you to an empty basketball court. Only by noticing the narrow, fenced-in ramp adjacent to the court could you find the mission. Occasionally, you could find several toons just meandering about this basketball court unable to find their mission. I'm pretty sure this was fixed (or that door is no longer used, perhaps), although I can't recall the specifics of how or when.
[/ QUOTE ]
....
I got that mission a few weeks back and bugged/petitioned it again.
Unfortunately I had to use the mission dropping feature.
But yeah, not fixed (or not fixed in its entirety).
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a bit different, though. There is a marker to missions that use that door, it's just that the door is under the street level and it is very difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for. I have led at least 2 different people to that door over the Help channel in the last couple of months, not by physically showing it to them, but just by giving these simple instructions:
1. Head to the East a short distance.
2. Look for a fence.
3. Hop over that fence.
4. Follow the ramp down.
That will get you to the door under the Basketball court in SW Brickstown every time. -
Swan's a Trainer, they don't have that option in their windows, only the TF assigners do among signature heroes.

In the Shadow Shard (FBZ) there is a cave off to the right as you exit the portal. This cave contains another portal that takes you to a second cave in Cascade Archipelago. The cave in Cascade Archipelago has two contacts standing around in it: Dr. Huxley (who passes out Kora Fruit missions) and Sara Moore (who starts one of the SS TFs).
When the Shadow Shard first came out, both caves appeared to be entirely empty of equipment, walls, floors, and even the portals themselves! Every non-cave item in each one was invisible. The contacts and soldiers stood around floating on air. You would try to move around in the caves and continually would bump into invisible barriers. It was several issues before this odd bug was fixed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not entirely true. The Shard was introduced in Issue 2 with all of those interior textures intact. Issue 3 rendered virtually all interior textures associated with the Shard invisible, the sandbags in the Portal Corp building that leads there, and the interiors of the Mole Points. These textures slowly began reappearing with Issue 4 and most were back by Issue 5, the sandbags on one of the floors of the Portal Corp building were taken out rather than being made visible again. -

Now I'm wondering when we'll find out since the next book seems like it'll be another 20 year jump into the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
Next novel? This leads to the biggest spoiler in the book. There is no mention of the next book at all. No release date given, and no excerpt in the back. Prior to the title page of The Web of Arachnos there was a listing of the series giving tentative release dates for The Freedom Phalanx and The Rikti War, this one had no mention of The Rikti War in the same place. -

Ah, but what about the hero SGs? This change only hurts villain SGs. I7 won't be placing any additional pressure for heroes to leave SG mode.
[/ QUOTE ]
Youa re right, except that Both started clean regarding prestige with I6. Villians got a LOT of attention and from the way I see it, there are many more villian bases up and functional than hero bases, just with people playing villians, as it was new. It's not always the case, but the trend seems to be that way. So villians tend to have more prestige than heroes at this point.
[/ QUOTE ]
The number one SG for Prestige on my server is a Hero SG and they're so far ahead they have more than the entire rest of the top ten combined.
But just about all the other 99 in the top 100 are Villain SGs, and the rest of the top ten are even Villains (my SG was one of them before the calm before I7, now we're in 13th place).
In summation, I agree with Ewokspy.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is simply not true. You play on Infinity, where my main heroes and villains are, as well. I'd point you to this thread that compiles the top Prestige earners on Infinity. There is one group that is out of whack there, but that is Burnin' Fury's VG, and he was the one who reported the base room Prestige bug that many exploited. His rewards were the Bug Hunter badge, and keeping the Prestige that he made through the bug, or at least some of it. As you can see, the top seven groups are VGs and they far outstrip the SG. -

Has anyone figured out how to get missions? I can't find a contact.

I couldn't find one, either. I so wanted my Risk Taker badge. -
I used the 5th Column Krieger in a match. It is definitely a Raserei Ubermenschen Oberst. Nice to see one of those again, although a little painful to type. I suppose it could've been worse, Raserei Ubermenschen Unteroffizier is cruel and unusual typing punishment.

Female togas are great. Finally, they have something with a skirt and top that blend again. Not just midriff-baring teen-pop outfits. The fact that women don't have a pall on their togas, in a game whose lead designer was a Classics major, is a bit disturbing, though.
-
Yes, but that's just for the four in the door mission. What the patch notes fail to say is that they also abracadabraed away the DO reward in the gifts. Either that or only level 50s could get it before and level 25s always got no DOs from the gifts.

Astartus, your page is broken, getting no text in either Internet Explorer or Firefox. The frames are also a nuisance in Firefox.

Secondy, Maiden Justice's name is Monica Richter, not Maria Jenkins.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, until this book was released, the storyline of the game had Maria Jenkins as Maiden Justice, it might still even be in her contact info in game (haven't gone and checked recently), so the confusion came from the story elements that we already had. Maybe it was a mistake, but my views on it were expressed earlier in this thread. I've read enough comics to know when an editor is pulling a retcon from some dark place to cover a mistake, or to try to add importance to something that was added in later.
Call me a cynic. -
I tried to recreate my 1st 50 in CoV last night, but the females there apparently can't have the Tall boots option. Guess they aren't evil enough.
I agree wholeheartedly with the OP and all who have replied so far. More choices = better gaming experience. I'd love it just for some more chest emblems. -
[ QUOTE ]
-As far as Maria Jenkins goes, there is a mistake in her bio information. Maria Jenkins was Madame Danger not Maiden Justice. She worked with Statesman in the 30's. Sorry for the confusion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? So, who was that in the CoH trailer in the WWII-era footage with States and gang? Sure looked like Ms. Liberty, in fact looks just like the early version of Ms. Liberty from the loading screen. I know that I always assumed it was Maiden Justice/Maria Jenkins. If it's Maiden Justice/Monica Richter, then there's a smallish problem. On page 31 of Web, Monica is described as having short, dark hair, and this heroine with a costume that appears to be inspired by Statesman's has long blonde hair. I know that it could have been Monica with a few more years of hair growth and some peroxide, just seems a bit fishy to me. Monica doesn't seem the type to change her hair color for simple fashion sense in the book.
Perhaps the footage was bad? Perhaps the Furies changed her appearance to reflect the look that the future wearers of the Girdle of Hera would have? Or perhaps it was a big, fat retcon to cover up an editor and writer who didn't actually watch the promotional trailer while concocting more ways to shoehorn Recluse into Statesman's past.
Just sayin' -
Your necroposting-fu (and your boredom) is strong, young one.

I still have one on my main, a couple of alts lost theirs due to respec mishaps and bad key presses. One of my alts has a whopping 5 of those bad boys on him.
-
I think they were on so you could see the level 19 5th and Council fighting each other in there. Not kidding, the war is, indeed, everywhere. Now imagine a level 9 hero who braved the trip through Steel to get to the safe haven of the PDP, only to get 1-shotted in the dark by +10 mobs. Ouch!
