Well MMO Charts is a bit out of date. Here is a rough back of the envelope calculation.

Looking at the first quarter report from NCSoft. First they didn't list number of active accounts or daily population of any of their games, just income numbers per game.

Looking at income from 1Q08, 4Q08 and 1Q09. The amount is in millions of Korean Won.

1Q08 -- 5,164

4Q08 -- 6,865

1Q09 -- 6,837

Adjusting the 1Q09 into US dollars that's approximately $5.5 million dollars for the quarter. At $15 a month that's roughly 120,000 accounts. Bulk time purchases being cheaper per month would raise that number, income from $10 add on packs would lower it.

Edit: Found a historic currency converter site. Using the average conversion rate for that quarter I get these numbers.

1Q08 -- $5.4 million ~ 120,000 active accounts

4Q09 -- $5.0 million ~ 111,000 active accounts

1Q09 -- $4.8 million ~ 106,000 active accounts

Well that isn't looking good. Explains why they might have started advertising.

I'm sure that is why they did start advertising. You can see that they lost over 10k accounts over the pvp thing...1Q was right before I 12 and by the 4Q you had Issue 13 on the horizon. That and they decided to increase slots so people with multiple accounts cut down to 1 maybe 2.

I'd hazard a guess that they are going to lose another 10K accounts given the current status of the things going on in game and on the boards. I know they are losing 6 when my husband and I leave and that will happen shortly. The nerfs and censorship is more than we can take.

You'd think given the fact that there is another Hero MMO about to launch they would think twice about upsetting the player base like they have.

My last subscription runs out about the same time Rock...stupid auto renew for a year. I did have the pleasure of running a few TF's with you and enjoyed them greatly

I've been playing now for over 4 yrs, and I love this game but I haven't played now for over 2 months and I have to say I don't miss it. I remember a time when I couldn't wait to get home just to play and this game was my lifeline when my folks were sick and right after they both passed away 2 yrs ago.

I've never been much of a farmer, after playing for a few years though the content from 1-32 was just tetious and I'd rather just avoid them. However, worrying about whether I'm leveling too quickly only to have the character deleted is just too much, sorry.

Going Rogue just doesn't do it for me sorry, so what if my villain can do hero content...hello i've done it all so many times why do I want to do it on a different AT, been there done that, nuff said.

So all I can say is when is Aion coming out and if any of these devs or mods are there guess I'll be looking for another game to play, sigh.

My post will most likely get deleted but I loved your post Eran, like I said in that thread....it was well written and not an untruth in it. Sorry devs if the truth hurts. I fear it will be hurting your wallet sooner than you think. They lose 6 accts when we leave that equals $1100 a year, not that much but more than the average MMO player pays and at least one months salary of one person.

All I can say is WOW.....just when I thought they couldn't do any more stupid things. Here is wondering if this game will still be around to go Rogue. You know its bad when Bob quits

We are not on vacation. We just aren't playing, Dave is too busy with one of the companies he has. He landed a huge contract. Just the thought of doing anything on the computer after being on it for over 8 hrs a day doing business things just makes him sick, lol, and if he isn't playing neither am I.

However, considering the state of the game and what is going on we may be closing the Academy's doors sooner than we thought. We are waiting for Aion to be released. It was the people that kept us here this long but we are just too busy right at this moment. OSHA's acct right now is inactive or else he would have posted well wishes Arch.

She like a lot of us are just bored. Don't expect to see us around much longer. I find it amusing that they are sending out emails with City of Heroes going Rogue. Do they honestly think making a place where we can cross sides is gonna keep us here.??? Too many nerfs as of late. This is just as bad as issue 13 PVP IMHO. Check out Fry's Electronics in Duluth, GA (right outside of Atlanta). Not only did they have several copies of the game on their shelves but they were also playing the trailers for it on their 50" widescreen monitors. I can't tell you how surprised we were to see it. I think that this was a good move on NCSofts part. We had been saying they needed re-box and put it on the shelves. I think maybe it will peak interest again.

I haven't tried making anything yet but we did run "The Great Chicken Caper of '09" last night. Funniest thing I've done in CoX in a LONG time. Reminded me of Sum ting Wong.....course then none of them said "WTF I'm a duck", maybe they never saw Sum's duck outfit

All I can say is WOW, Sexy Jay definately outdid himself. And I'm guessing that the Witch's hat will now be available for villains as well. First the butt cape and now this.......hmmmm i know what part of my birthday gift this year is gonna be
