  1. I think that the final conditions of the Trial make it pretty clear he's no longer anywhere near the same level of power that the average hero is at level 50. The Well sees he's fighting a losing battle and ports out. He's severed. Statesman was still bonded when he was killed.

    Execution is still perfectly viable...

But I think I'll roll with Golden Girl in my final assessment. Executing him might not be wise. He may not be a believer in free will. He may think we're a group of psychotic savages.

But Primal Earth is his home now and it's under just as much threat as Praetoria ever was. Maybe even more, not including the "dangerously chaotic" elements.

He may have a purpose here. Maybe we just need to wait and see.

And the Voids and Quantums were nerfed long ago. The bosses can be a threat, sure. But the rest are basically just different looking bags of XP.

If anything, I've seen teams volunteer to *protect* the Kheldian, calling out the enemy in case the Kheld doesn't see them and taking them out first unless there's something that's a bigger threat to everyone. I've had to tell teams I didn't need protecting - and to not worry that I'm running in and tackling the Void (I tend to make it a point to hunt them on my Khelds anyway.)
And I've seen the opposite kind of behavior. Doesn't invalidate your statement anymore than your experience invalidates mine.

Having said that the changes over the years have made playing a Kheldian NOTHING like it use to be in I8 when I came to the game. Sounds like it has been YEARS since you played and you missed all the Kheld buffs most recently last year I21 I think it was.
Still stuns. Still takes a significant amount of health out of the character.

Your mileage may vary, but that's what I encountered.

Essentially, this conundrum, that he cannot be trusted, even if he is rehabilitated and becomes a hero, makes him the in-game version of Statesman Sucks. Now the characters will have just as much mixed hate for him as the playerbase did for Statesman.

Frankly, I think Tyrant would prefer death.
  5. Why am I not playing my Kheldians? Well, for one major reason.

Kheldians have been assigned a switch or tag or something that causes special enemies to spawn with each enemy group. These are either Void Hunters or Nictus. Void Hunters include the Quantum Gunners who look just the same as everybody else in their group, but also have that nasty Quantum Array that tears Kheldians apart at low levels and is still dangerous at high levels because it delivers a nasty stun effect.

Then there are the Nictus, which appear as either a FAR more effective Dwarf or Nova than the PC can be, or they appear as a Shadow Cyst Crystal.

Because of that last enemy, you will be hard-pressed to find a team willing to work with a Kheldian. Shadow Cyst Crystals interfere with the grind. For inexperienced teams, they can wipe everybody out. For experienced teams, they're a speed bump... Until killing one wipes out half the team.

And from the gameplay I've experienced with the Archetypes, I still haven't seen the justification for specific considerations taken to hinder and hamper the Kheldians outside of a lore that the game has long-since passed by.

I still got my Kheldians to 50. I even got them to +1. I don't expect to get much else done on them.

I LIKE playing them. However, it's not the same fluid experience of playing an Arachnos Soldier. Low damage output, barely enough resistance to be called resistance, low health, weak controls... The idea was that they would be boosted by their teammates, but as I pointed out before, there are few teams that want to deal with the hassle. It was slow going, levelling my Kheldians, and I often caught flak for bringing them along instead of something more focused (or, as it was sometimes said "more useful").

That's an often-used argument, with little evidence to support it.

    I23 Front Screen

Frankly, I don't mind the login screen.

    I23 tomorrow

    Usage, maybe, but not mention.

The character was the Superman of this game. He was supposed to serve as the inspiration for the Heroes. You can't just erase a character from the game when the lore and history revolves around him so much.

    I23 tomorrow

    Well... Cheers, then!
  10. Been a while since I played the arc that culminates in the gang war between the Hellions and Skulls (I think Athena Currie is one of the contacts that gives that arc). It's one of the ubiquitous "MAGI can't keep track of their stuff!" arcs, in that it opens with you having to recover a cloak that was stolen from them and that somehow sparks off the war between the Hellions and Skulls. You fight Marrowdrinker in one mission and Marrowsnap in another in which you beat the guy who's supposed to be in charge of the Hellions, too, and recover the cloak.

The only one I really MISS playing is The Mysterious General Z. I'm sure there are still players who meet General Aarons in the RWZ arcs and go "Who is this guy, and why does he think he can help me?"

Well, in Mysterious General Z, he, an Ambassador from "West Libertalia" and the ambassador's bodyguard provide fire support as you rescue them from the Sky Raiders. And they're armed with assault rifles. And they know how to use them! That mission is about the only reason why I miss playing it, because the rest is standard "Go here, kill Raiders..." fare.
  11. *looks at Boarderline Insanity channel*

How did this thing get so damn full of people!?
  12. Usually, I just transfer the character to another server. Lately, that's been Champion.

Otherwise, I probably just rarely play the character, usually only turning to it if I'm in that particular mood.

As far as RP, like any good comic book character, my characters never REALLY retire...

Though my main tank now has white hair and looks like a gigantic, angry Santa Claus in plain clothes...
  13. I thought it would have made sense that Praetorian Infernal was our Infernal's former best friend.
  14. Okay, the scenario:

You're playing an MM (or seeing an MM) in an I-Trial. Suddenly, the Objective AV shows up and BAM!

The pets bolt off after it.

You try to call them back, but they STILL tear off after it.

The only solution is to put them down. Otherwise, you'll be dealing with a league full of very angry players all glaring at you for interfering with the otherwise smooth run.

Anybody else see behavior like this? If so, any idea what causes it?
  15. Happy belated birthday, Jan.

You keep teaching us whipper-snappers what's what.
  16. Gotta be careful with those strokes of genius.

    Especially the minor ones.

They can leave a person who suffers from one debilitated for life with delusions of intelligence.

  17. It seems to me that there is a lot of empty space where important stats could be displayed for your characters at the character select screen. Here's what I'd like to see:

Click a button and bam. Your character. The powersets. The powers selected. How they're slotted. Scroll down, there's your costume selection. Your Incarnate progress.

Below that: Salvage, Recipes and your current Auction House standings (bought/sold/stored).

Don't want to see it? Click that same button and it's GONE. You get to see your character in prominence again, looking awesome.
  18. This is blasphemy!

Prepare the bonfire! We must BURN this heretic!

    ...

Just reveling in the memories of when I was suggesting we be able to Email items. Ah, those were good times. Lots of players telling me not only that it will never be done, but also why it shouldn't be done... I just wanted to get in the front of the line of this angry mob :P

In case I'm being too subtle, I understand what you're saying, and I see the logic behind it. I don't really care either way, but I would say that I would rather see this implemented rather than watch the inevitable train of players who come along and say "No! This can't happen! And here's why: It will make me sad when I remember all that time I couldn't do it before..." or some other trite.

Good luck with your rally, man! I salute you with my torch!

    Uh oh...

GET OFF THE PYRE! GET OFF THE PYRE!
  19. Protector Vigilance
    Protector TFs
To a lesser extent, Protector Watch (it is a lot more strict about behavior, but it gets chatter now and then).
  20. Mr_Grey

    Dear Protector.

Is that still happening to you?

Man. You're either younger than I thought or you've gotta stop letting those kids get the drop on you!

It's fun riding these threads off the rails...
  21. I can see it now...

    1st Pet: Kitty

You summon a feisty feline to help you battle the forces of evil!

    2nd Pet: Panda

Your tiny panda assaults your foes!

    3rd Pet: Man's Best Friend

You've got a faithful hound by your side.

    4th Pet: Pony

    It's a PONY!

    5th power: Pet training.

Your pets gain new attacks! You must have at least two Pet powers selected.

That bolded part got retconned out, remember!

After all... She's the Praetor of History/Memory... Something about remembering the past...
