  1. As far as I know the Goon has always been a print comic.
  2. That hat......Seriously? Is First Class a comedy?

Hehe, lets hope he reads the forum then.

As for the rest I've bookmarked them to check out later when I've got more then a 15 minute break to enjoy them.

    I19 Wish List??

I'd like to see them tweak Ammo Swap for Duel Pistols, I like DP but Ammo Swap is supposed to the crown jewel of the set and right now it isn't really shining. I'd like to see them expand that seconard effects to more damage types and no longer have ammo swap remove some of the secondary effects from standard ammo like -def on Pistols or -Res on Armor Piercing or buff the ammo swap secondaries to make up for this fact.
  5. As a long time fan and current writer for web comics I was wonder, what are some of the best Superhero web comics out there?

I was kind of surprised when I looked over my favorites and realized the only super hero web comic I'm reading right now is the highly enjoyable Union of Heroes.

What, if any, superhero web comics do you read?
  6. I wonder how the author would feel about the rather american influenced comics in india. Personally given how much larged the manag industry is and how many more people read manga in japan alone vs how many people comics I would certainly hope manga is turning out higher quality based on the money and numbers alone.

Until editors learn to let writers write good quality stories and not try rely on the corssover/new costume gimick of the year we're going to continue to see comic quality decline, the good news is though you can read a lot of good stuff online for free these days like Girl Genius, Dr. McNinja, etc. etc.

I personally recomend the German Superhero Photo Comic Union of Heroes which so far has been really enjoyable if you can get into photo comics.

That really depends on what build/path you take, but your right perhaps fragil wasn't the right word since you can slot out their defensive powers to give them decent defense. Most SoA though seem squishy compaired to a Brute, Tank, Scrapper or properly played Master Mind, seems like they're the third to die (after noobs and poor, poor stalkers) a lot of the time. Though now that they can team with blaster we might have to change that to 5th or higher to die with is respectable enough I suppose.
  8. Well I disagree since I find the non-humans with gun sets such as Zombies, Ninjas and Demons to be pretty meh and I like Thugs and Robots so from my POV I'd much rather see a coll Police/Agents with unique powers rather than say Aboninations, Animals or Plants which I'm just not going to play.

Anyone could be the Punisher, but only one man chooses to be the Punisher. Likewise even when everyone could be Iron Man it will still take exceptional people to BE Iron Man. Just the difference is he'll be treated more as "street hero" like Dare Devil instead of a technological world leader 'cause he won't be that out of the ordinary anymore.

Besides given the number of heroes we still enjoy see using melee weapons against lasers, guns and explosives I'm sure we will still suspend our disbelief in the future to allow heroes to fight modern villians with antiquated weapons or techniques.

This thing you say is true, the rest is just a matter of personal preference and it seems we just have different tastes. For my part I feel the VEAT SoAs fill a similar nitch of all range damage but fragil AT but do it somewhat better since they at least have group friendly powers (or at least they would it you were not shoe horned into being a storm trooper) which further takes away from the Blaster now that Redside ATs are open but we're really off the topic of how sweet an MA secondary would be on a blaster.

I would settle for a few weak Vet Reward style powers with martial arts looking animations for character concepts.

True but for contrast look at how Bruce adapted in Kingdom Come to the times. In Kingdom Come he felt he had to keep fighting the good fight and did what he had to do to stay in it. In Batman Beyond other heroes were around to handle things and he passed on the mantle so things went very differently. I think it really comes down to the good fight, if Batman thinks it is okay for him to fade away then he will, if not then he'll keep going until he is a brain in a jar if that is what it takes he just won't like it.

In short I think Batman sees enhancments and the lilke as cheating, but he is willing to cheat to protect other people if he has to.

I think you are just over complicating the issue. The blaster identity of "Kill things till they are dead" is pretty much a part of everyone's MO. It is like being a regional manager in a room full of CEOs. They've got skills and personality sure but they are dwarfed by the company they keep.
  13. I strongly disagree with the idea that cops would have to be a thugs/merc hybrid. Yes all three would feature long ranged attacks as opposed to being a melee based set like Ninjas but there the similarity ends.

Each set has their own unique powers just like any othe AT's primaries even if they follow formula.

Thugs have leadership, a large around of AoE attacks, The Pyro for fire damage instead of all lethal, and a very strong tank Tier 3 who can absorb a lot of damage pet but in exchange they lack Control, Healing, Defuff and the lack of range with the Bruser.

Mercs have the Medic, AoE Control/debuff attacks, a ranged Teir 3 three pet but in exchange lack the same level of AoE damage, lack durability, have almost all lethal damage, and don't have any buff abilities.

Robots have energy damage, strong healing and buff, AoE attacks and have range but lack debuff, a special 1st tier pet, and control.

For the sake of arguments a simple in the box sort of Police set up could have more durability, some energy attacks instead of lethal, strong single target damage, single target debuff and single target control but lack AoE, Buffs, Healing and a lower damage cap. And if they go out of the box even a little bit like they did with Demons it could be anything. Demons, after all really are not that different from another shooter pet class except that they have access to a ton of different damage types and secondary effects as their unique advantage something previously just wasn't done with the other pets.

Playstyle wise where as Thugs are great for taking out large groups sending the tank in to round up foes, then letting the other thugs lead unleash massive AoE to take them all out but run into trouble against strong foes since one the tank drops the ther pets are quickly dispatched, while Mercs would open up with snipes to pick off opponents, drop some stun grenades and mow down a group with gun fire so by the time the enemy comes around (in theory if Mercs didn't suck) the mercs would have managed to cut the group down to a small handful that can be mopped up by the stronger commando. Police for their nitch would have a harder time with those large mobs with their lack of AoE and would have to rely on their better defense due to armor to keep them alive while the try to bring an enemy mob down but would do much better against bosses due to their higher durability and single target focus.

And that is just one in the box example off the top of my head. Cops could really have any set of unique advantages or disadvantages to want and if, in the unlikely event they actually ended up happening, were just a Thugs/Mercs hybrid rather then their own thing it is only because of a lack of imagination and I don't think the Devs here lack for imagination.
  14. What if you limited the normal cops to buff/debuff and mostly lethal damage powers starving them for any sort of control. Then make the unique ability power armor which armors up all your pets for a bit and switched their attacks to energy/smashing instead of lethal as well as gave each tier of minions 1 new control and defense power, armor, for the durration?

All: Knock back attacks become knock-up attacks
    Tier 1: AoE Immobalize
Tier 2: Disorenting AoE gas grenades
    Tier 3: Hold Ice Ray

Or possibly make the police normally very single target orients and have power armor give them all AoE attacks

Until the same people start complaining about how said Set is boring to look at.
True but you'll get this on most any game's forums.
  16. DCUO actually is supposed to have some limited evironmental destruction. At the very least I know you can pick up all sorts of objects like cars and light posts and break them by bashing enemies with them and that said objects can be destroyed in the midst of a fight. I don't know about more generic objects like windows, walls and buildings though; I think those are probably undamageable. However from the game play trailer it looks like if you smack into the ground hard enough the ground will crack under you even if it is purely cosmetic.
  17. I too thought this was a great fight and would like to see more like it.

Maybe he has been rebelling against Bruce for years, now, in his way. But you know what? Rebellious children often end up -exactly- like the parents they swore they'd never become. Perhaps Dick's objection to becoming Batman was because it was someone else's plan for him, not on his own terms. Perhaps his objection has been subconsciously because he knew himself becoming Batman would mean Bruce is gone, and he knows he'd be unable to live up to the legacy of the man he admires most.

But with Bruce "dead", and Tim not old enough, Jean Paul dead at present I believe? (and proven not a good choice anyway), Jason crazy murdering people, Dick had to step into the role, whether he wanted it or not. Because he believed there had to be a Batman. And after being forced to grow into the role, is it so inconceivable that what he wants has changed? That he -does- want to be Batman, after all? Many are the times life surprises people with activities, ideas, and roles that they learn to accept and even cherish, despite initially rejecting.

That is how I would write it if I were the one doing the comic, at least. Dick has been fighting what part of him knew was destiny, fighting to keep Bruce, the one true Batman, around, but now that he's come to terms with it, he's not going to give it up.
That arguement would hold a lot more water if Wayne wasn't going to be Batman as well. It is one thing for a son to take over the family business for his dad. It is another thing for his dad to come back and decided to be the CEO again at the same time.

Personally I like Dick as Batman, but it doesn't make much sense to do a sort of batman time share. This would be character growth instead of a lame gimick if they were willing to allow Bruce to move on in some way, instead it just feels like they are trying to have it both ways.

"Okay you be Batman of Gothlam, I'll be Batman for everywhere else. You attend the JSA meetings and I'll handle the JLA meetings. You take Robin as your side kick and I get Batgirl. Does that sound fair Dick?"
  19. Well thanks, glad to see the idea has some support.

I'm surprised someone hasn't come in here just to suggest the highest tier cop should be a Tank with a Fireman's Axe so I'm glad to see someone else like the suggestion.

I like that particularly the names. "State of Emergency" hehe.

Thematically though I was thinking they would probably end up being a cross between the pretorian police and the agents from Crackdown myself so they probably would have a little bit more advanced weapons they pistols at least as I saw it. I figure if they are calling in a hero for a situations it was probably to big for beat cops to begin with.
  20. Well they are still probably better of then stalkers but that isn't saying much.

Really I think a lack of indentity is half the problem. All the CoH ATs were made to be basic appealing to the normal RPG mold with little more to them, they've tried to fix that but they what they are and probably always will be. The CoV classes on the other hand were all designed around a mechanic to give them a different play style for their counter parts. It isn't so noticable in the corruptor's case as they play pretty much like a blaster/defender hybrid but Brutes, Dominators, Stalker and Masterminds all force you to play them very differently. Brutes need rage and must be build around that, Dom play different in domination mode, stalker must hide and use assassin's strike, masterminds are well masterminds. Brutes, Scrappers, Controlers all still do exactly the same thing they did before (just a little better thanks ot their inherents now) but since their counterparts play differently they will always have some appeal just for a different experience.

Blasters on the other hand (along with defends to some extend but defenders are so good at what they do it doesn't matter as much) play pretty much like a gimped version of any class with a ranged power set. I really think the blaster's need an inherent which changes how you play them like the CoV classes in order to give them identity. Right now defiance is pretty much designed to ensure you don't need to do anything differently just blast away under all conditions which is what people always did with blasters.

Dick should remain Batman, and Bruce can travel and train others and allow them to use the logo, but there should only be one actual Batman.

I agree that there has been some convoluted failures in recent Batbooks (notably Jason Todd), but I am honestly enjoying the stories now than most in the last few years. Morrison isn't a writer for everyone. He balances his stories upon small, obscure references or his own previous stories. Not everyone wants to have read and fully digested Seven Soliders (basically impossible to do, anyway...) to understand Final Crisis. I know FC made no sense to me when I first read it. But when you really get into it and you can follow him, Morrison is a man who understands what he's writing. I'm not saying "if you don't get it, too bad." It's a bad thing that he's not accessible to everyone all the time. But Morrison does hit a sweet spot sometimes, like in Batman & Robin. If you're a Batfan and aren't reading Batman & Robin, you're making a mistake. Final Crisis was kind of... out there. But Batman RIP and the follow-up to that in Batman & Robin have been stellar. It's kind of a roundabout way to say it, but I'm going to trust Morrison a little longer to make Batman, Inc a classic story.
Well IMO this is exactly why Grant is great on limited series like Seven Soldiers but terrible working on an in the thick of it monthly series. If he was doing a limited stand alone series called Batman and Robin where he could play in the sandbox and let other people figure out how to plug it into the univere later like what was done with so many classics like Year One, Long Halloween, Hush etc. etc. I'm pretty sure his work would be a lot more enjoyable.

That said though I very much doubt I'd be able to enjoy his take on the Joker under any set of conditions and Damian Wayne under his pen isn't very enjoyabe either. The only time I really found him tolerable was when he showed up in Batgirl whom he oddly played really well off of.
  22. Dark is MUCH better for soloing due to is many control elements such as a fear cone power, is -tohit debuff, stealth and its powerful debuff spamming pet. It just brings a lot of control/suvivablity/buff options.

Kin is better for groups but is not as well suited to solo play. Kin is more focused on buffing/debuffing so you won't have the same utility and you'll die more with it but it will help you kill you a lot faster. Another benefit is with Kin you can in do without a movement power, particularly if you have Ninja run.

Not once you get into higher levels where everything is extreamly resistant to Lethal. By that point I think you'll want the extra damage and you'll probably want to lean more on your secondary for CC when you can.

That might be part of the issue but the source is that blaster are a pure damage class in a game where most AT's can do pretty good damage and bring at least little something extra to the table, made worse now that you can smuggle the Red Side ATs across the boarder.

    New one:
    "Munitions"
    Net(like Entangling arrow)
    Ranged stun gun
AOE grenades: poison gas(sleep), toxic gas(choking cloud hold/puke), stun, glue(like glue arrow), flash bang
Last power can be a robot or something.

Though, I guess this is more a "Tech" thing.
This difference between Natural and Tech in many cases is the level of sophistication. If you leave out robots and keep it more like Pepper Spray and Tear Gas then it works for the most part.

I suggested shuriken's actually as part of a MA/Nin hybrid set. I don't think a Tech Munitions control set would match up well with an MA set, particularly if it involves throwing sharp bits of metal after you just summoned up your robot. I think munitions would do well to be as low key as possible given the fact that Tech controler can just take things like fire and adjust their costume to look like it has flame throwers built into it or something.
