I assume due to this great tie-in between Gamestop & CoH that when I go to my local http://www.gamestop.ie/ store in town I will be able to pre-order and get these goodies to use on my EU account?

The GMs have said a lot of things would "never happen" when it comes to the EU side. History shows that the Mod Team have a patchy record in predicting what will happen when it comes to changes with regards to the EU side.
In fact most of those self-same GMs probably ended up downsized.
US competitions will never be open to EU players due to territory rules and regulations - check
Never is a long time in mmos, they may not intend to but they've shown they're not beyond changing their minds and sorting out the obsticles that made it 'impossible' to do it. I'm pretty sure power customisation fell into the never category at some point as well. -

You're safe enough anyway, I can only do lvl14 on a trial account, and given how you can't even broadcast or send a /tell to anyone to get a group during a trial I'm amazed anyone would want to upgrade from a trial account who doesn't already know someone in game. -

I haven't quite taken the plunge yet, I'm on a US trial currently. The one thing that held me back from jumping ship was the loss of everything I'd amassed on Defiant & Union since EU launch: 9 50s, 3 bases built and a smattering of vet rewards amongst other things.
Then it clicked, once I hit 50 the alt was mothballed and I started again, the bases were nothing more than transport hubs and storage facilities (and a time sink in their design and construction). So really the only real thing I was losing was some inf & vet rewards.
Given the difference in populations I've seen based on when I play I'm more inclined currently to make my US trial a full account than I am of reactivating my EU account.
5 villains in 4 months is slow Carni, I ran 6 alts through tutorial and isolator on day 1 of my trial!
