I'd like to make a suggestion, and yes I'm sure someone out there won't like it, but I'd like to see a vet reward that just lets me chose the first or second power from both primary and secondary pools at creation. I don't think it would be game breaking, and some of the choices would just be nice to have, whether I took them or not.

Saw a comment on making a Dark Blast primary, and thought, it'd be cool to have a dark secondary to match. I figure it'd have a combination of Dark Melee and Dark Miasma for powers.
1. Shadow Sink (Immobilize, because all the secondaries start with one)
2. Shadow Punch
3. Death Shroud
4. Smite
5. Build Up
6. Petrifying Gaze (or maybe Scare)
7. Oppressive Gloom
8. Tenebrous Tentacles
9. Dark Consumption
Or something like that. Not really sure, just kind of threw them together. But it'd be fun to think about a Dark/Dark blaster. I'm just trying to think what a secondary would look like, as speculation. -
And since it's my post, I'll put my choces here:
Fire (not a lot of utility, but oh, so much damage)
Energy (I LIKE the KB)
Electric (more damage than you realize, and end drain too)
Ice (blizzard is the gift that keeps on giving, and ice holds too)
Radiation (Nice AE's and decent recharge, but not ZOMG)
Psychic (seems very middle of the road to me, but I like the -Rech)
Dual Pistols (Bullet Rain looks cool, but the set as a whole doesn't seem to be high on damage)
Sonic (Love the Siren Song, Dreadful Wail is fun, but it just doesn't seem to have oomf)
Archery (Fast, but seems very low on damage)
Assault Rifle (0 experience with it, and from what I've seen, it doesn't have a lot of utility either) -
Here's something I've wanted to see, but haven't actually been able to find on the forums. I know a lot of people want to build characters not just on concept, but effectiveness, and while everyone has an opinion on a specific set, I've never actually seen anyone rank the powersets. I think it would be useful to list them, but it's not only my opinion which matters but everyone who's had experience as a blaster.
Current Blaster Primaries are:
Archery
Assault Rifle
Dual Pistols
Electric
Energy
Fire
Ice
Psychic
Radiation
Sonic
For purposes of the primary set only, how would you rank them in damage output/effectiveness from highest to lowest. Yes, I know some sets are more suited to AE than others, but I'm curious to see the response when asked to list the set as a whole.
Oh, and some sets (such as Ice Blast) get powers that aren't high damage, but useful, so if you have a take on that, you can add that in too.
Let's see what everyone's opinions are. -
Quite frankly, I'm too damned tired of the complaints to follow this entire thread, but here's my two cents.
Complaining about "no mez protection" for a kheldian is rather unfair. Blasters don't have Mez protection without sets, nor do Defenders or Controllers. Yes, you're a HEAT, but really you're asking for something other sets don't get and do quite well without, when devoted to their 'job', so to speak.
that being said, however, brings up my complaint about Kheldians in general. Compared to the VEAT's, they have a much rougher feel. A widow or soldier can 'evolve' into a unique role as they develop, giving them a feel I think Kheldians lack. As said somewhere above in the thread, Warshades have a unique feel based on their abilities. Peacebringers, however, are -- Dwarf and nova-wise, at least - - 'shiny' versions of the Warshade. Human form wise. WS are distinctly different even from other hero AT's. PB's however, are reminiscent of an Energy/energy blaster without half the powers, and given mediocre shields in compensation.
I think the problem with PB's isn't a need for mez protection in human form. It's a need for a distinctive role. I have a lvl 50 full human PB which I like, and am disappointed by simultaneously. He can solo missions and team well, but - - as said before -- the heavy KB gets in the way on teams. However, he also doesn't round out in any one area -- mid-lines at best. I don't have 3 VIABLE blasts to make a ranged attack chain, don't have 3 melee attacks to make a melee attack chain, and I don't have sufficient defense or resistance to be viable as a 'tanker'. My heal is on par with O2 boost, with half the range, and the 'pet' power is not even close to equal to the WS pet.
What human PB's need, IMO, isn't mez protection. It's identity. It needs something it can do that is unique to itself Perhaps a pet that's not a bomb, but a mini Amy Johnson. Perhaps it's a control power such as Blind, or an additional melee attack. But we need to think about the flavor of the AT, and give it something that makes it stand out as different.
And as a parting shot. How about Ancillary Access for Kheldians? VEATS get it. but Khelds don't and that's not fair. -
I could really use some help with building a thugs/Dark Mastermind. I can't seem to find any build guides on the Thugs set. Dark I'm familiar with, but not sure how the powers synergize with the Thugs. Anyone out there with a build/guide that could help?

As a CoH controller who's been through my pet nerfs, hold nerfs, and ED, I just want to throw in my two cents (not familiar with what you could do or can do now, just IMO).
As long as you don't get to hold better than me, I don't really see a problem. But as my AT's complaint was that holding WAS our job and the devs didn't like that, if what you want is better than what we've got, you should all just stop complaining. We got told by the dev team 'tough cookies' and you'll probably get told the same too.
