  1. Are you running Vista or Windows 7? If so I18 has removed the option to turn on 3D sound with those operating systems. Unfortunatly rather than migrate the sound engine from Windows XP Direct Sound to Vista and Windows 7 OpenAL, the Devs chose to just disable the 3D sound.
  2. -Fixed a crash that sometimes occurred when toggling 3 D Sound.

I was hoping this would fix the issue with the game locking up when 3D sound was enabled with Creative Alchemy running to enable 3D sound in Vista/Windows 7. Unfortunately it did not. Any chance there is a fix in the works for this? I'd really like to have my 3D working with Windows 7.
  3. Sorry for the late reply on this one but I just noticed it. Try disabling Alchemy. Alchemy and CoH do not play well together.
  4. I know there has been a lot of discussions about the visual improvements in Going Rogue's Ultra Mode. Has there been any thought to making any sound engine updates? With the advent of Windows Vista and now Windows 7 Direct Sound 3D is no longer supported and these operating systems now rely on OpenAL. Are there any plans to migrate to or add additional support for OpenAL? It would be nice to use my 5.1 speaker set up again with CoH. :-)
  5. Are you running Vista or XP?

There were significant changes in the way 3d sound is handled in Vista vs. XP. Creative sound cards have a work around for the changes in Vista. Creative Labs ALchemy will help some with restoring accptable 3d sound in CoH.

On the down side I have had issues with it locking up the game on exit when enabled. To date I have had no luck in figuring out how to stop that.

  6. Same here. I spent a 3+ weeks going back and forth between Creative and NCSoft's support trying to figure this out. In the end both insisted it was a problem with the other's product. For my part I decided it was the lesser of two evils to have to lockup after each exit (until I noticed I am not preloading I14 that is) then not having 3d sound.

If anyone has indeed gotten ALChemy running without the lockup on exit I would be greatly interested in knowing how too.
