Last night my Dark/Shield scrapper, How Soon Is Now, dinged 50 in the "Save the World" mission in RWZ. Thanks again to all my SG and coalition mates and all my Guardian friends that helped along the way. That makes the total now 17. No new toons until i16 so I'll be working on some of my other alts until then.
  4. Nah, that's what the tanks for.

    What did I miss?

Pepsi gnawed on stuff and peed a lot.
  7. Bottom line: fun.

That could mean an easy mission but written so well, I don't mind it going by like a cakewalk. Or fights with challenges that are challenging but not just "AVs on extreme!" Something that someone obviously put a lot of thought into that pays off well.

If I want to turn right around and do something again, it will get a 4 or 5. What separates the two can be many things, but a 5 will usually boil down to someone doing something unique and well. I won't kill someone for the occasional grammar or spelling mistake especially if we're enjoying ourselves. But I love when someone uses a map in an original or well thought out way, especially when its surprising (the Blackula inspired arc comes to mind here). Or when someone uses an existing enemy group and weaves it into a new story in a cool and new way. Or retells an old story in a fun new way. (We recently did the Dorothy must die (?) arc recently and it was a huge success with our group, just because of all the thought put into the enemies, the map, etc.

    Things that will "test" me:

Authors who think epic means using the largest possible map of its type.

    Defeat alls.

Using the largest possible map of its type AND a defeat all.

Cargo ship and oranbega maps. (Of course these can be forgiven if used in the right context) And that is merely personal preference due to how many times I've seen them already.

Things that don't bother me that others seem to get so worked up about.

"My character would never do that"

"I hate feeling like I'm working for someone else"

    Origin arcs.

If something is done well, I don't care what character I'm on or what they are doing as long as I'm having fun doing it and it seems like the author had fun making it.

I don't know if I can define what a 5 star arc is, but I know it when I play it.

Use the [IMG] file link not the direct link and copy and paste the link directly into the text box, Sinner. See if that helps.

    Welcome to the interwebs!

A total of one of my controllers has acro (Earth/TA) and that was only because it literally had a throw away slot. Neither of my fire trollers nor my plant/kin (my melee'rs) ever made me feel the need for its hold protection. As I said, your control, chaos and damage will decrease the chances of being held Bring around one or two BFs, put a karma or steadfast in SM and you're done.

I also think you are mistaking irritation at people ignoring the point for defensiveness.
No need to be irritated, people are just giving their opinions; that's all. Yes, yes you said you were happy with your power choices, but if someone sees a hole in a build, no matter the question they are going to point it out. Take it for what it's worth... We have our spirited debates here from time to time, but I'm not sure you'll find a more civil or helpful or knowledgable AT group on the forums.

No, generally not. Whenever I see Tornado used it gets irritating at some point, I don't like the look of the power, I don't like the power, there's definitely nothing in the build I'd want to lose to take it. It's also really not relevant to the question I was asking.
Acro. Plenty of other places to get your kb protection. Hold not so much, but its really not an issue to be honest with all your control, damage and chaos. Problem solved.

Now don't get defensive, we all try and help around here. Sometimes we can tint our responses with snark, but its mostly for humor and rarely for spite. Indulge me a little explanation here, please.

The whole "power" of fire/storm is the buzz saw effect of the combo. You'll be using fire cages regularly for containment and as a way to settle kb from other powers. You will gain a lot more "buzz saw" from that windy little friend. Apparently you've seen it used in hands of those who don't use it properly. With proper -kb powers tornado is truely a wonderous power. At least give it some thought.

  15. Never kill on an empty stomach....that's what grandma always said.
  16. Think of rad like the potato. Normal lunch nothing fancy: french fries. Nice dinner steak and baked potato. In the mood for Italian: gnocchi. Breakfast: hash browns. Downhome good: fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Comfort food: pot roast with carrots and potatoes. A nice hearty winter dinner: Scalloped potatoes. Hop over the pond: Shepherds Pie.

It's the all around set that just makes everything a little better but it doesn't bind you into just one type of "dinner". With rad you have choices.

O2 is a heal. I am a controller. I have better things to do than top people off.
So. Defenders aren't blasters either but I doubt you'd tell them not to take any blasts. (Talking more in general here than just /storm) Controlling isn't so time consuming that you can't stick the occasional buff/heal/etc. in there. I'm not saying it's more or even as important as your primary, but your secondary is there for a reason. Solo build sure I can see nipping and tucking powers that don't apply but for a team (even sometimes team) build it won't kill you to take certain powers.

Specifically, I'd agree that O2 isn't a must have right away power, but in a team build can be helpful for the lategame especially against end draining foes (malta sappers) and disorient heavy situations for squishy teammates.
