The video games as art debate, goes a little deeper than what most people intially think it means. A lot of people took it as some kind of jab at video games but it really wasn't. (Sort of, Ebert can get snarky when he's challenged) If I remember correctly there is a long standing contingency in the art world (especially in the world of art review) that doesn't believe an interactive medium can be art and it's been debated for years and years regarding any type of interactive "art" not just games. Nobody really denies that there isn't artistry involved in making a video game, just that the medium itself can't be called "classicly art". It's not my opinion as I'm not qualified to answer one way or another. I just remember hearing an explanation of it on a podcast by someone that knew the concepts behind it and even though they were an avid gamer came to agree that it may be true. If there is any interest I'll try and rustle up a link if I can find it. It was pretty interesting, but I'm probably forgetting quite a few details.

I can almost picture the commercial you're talking about but it's just out of reach.
I'm back on it! -
What genre was it?
Male or female singing?
Any clues to the type of company that was advertising? -
I love these challenges. I'm on it!

With good +HP and +regen bonuses I don't find my TW/Regen brute to be click heavy at all. The occasional "oopsy" sure or for a particularly tough spawn I'll just hit DP before I jump in and usually the regen alone keeps me safe.
I'll admit I rolled it thinking "Oh this may end up being a clicky nightmare but I want the challenge" only to be surprised just how "un-clicky" it turned out. Is the build cheap? Admittedly no. Is the combo fun? Oh yeah. -

I tend to lean towards core on most of my Lore pets. They are typically needed when more damage is needed during a particular phase of a trial, so I figure go with that.

Anyone else "not feelin' it" this season so far? Don't get me wrong, it's still on my must watch list but I'm not sure I'm liking this season. It just feels like they are rehashing stuff they've already done before. Russell, Jessica acting like a teenager, someone is a new vamp, were politics, Jason's indiscretions coming back to bite him, vamp politics, etc etc. It seems like they took a survey of all the things that worked in the past and just went with a "greatest hits" season instead of really moving things forward. Maybe these have been set up episodes, but I'm just not that into this year.
Also.......Tara just needs to go. Was hoping Lafayette would have gone through with it. Damn you Sookie.
(And no it's not a "They didn't do this or that in the books" post. I'm perfectly comfortable with the show as a totally different entity)
Edit: and oh yeah, biggest eyeroll moment of the episode: Sanguinistas? Cheeeeesy. -
Quote:Yeah, I had the same thought. Spawn size, team/solo, team make up all have a lot to do with a lot of the things said.I think part of the difficulty in comparing "damage" between sets is because a lot depends on the playstyle, situation, difficulty settings chosen etc.
Arg
My typical team for instance has a tank/brute/meleer bunching spawns up making lining up cones (and keeping pets relatively control-able and more efficient) much easier and predictable. I in no way think it's the way all teams should be. I love non-holy trinity teams. We just happen to have one or two people in our SG that are tank lovers so we almost always have one on our teams. So spawn size and how they are "bunched" together go a long way in what your controller can or can't do. -
Slightly tangential (and I know we are talking primary only) but I was wondering how much the addition of dark servant and it's aoe immob changes the damage output of Illusion. [<---rhetorical]
In other words, how much does this particular choice of secondary "improve" the primary when looking at damage output and would you think its one of the more significant pairings that boost production for a primary. And are their other pairings that significantly change the way a primary performs.
Sorry for the tangent. -
Somewhere down the line someone (either the cast or producers) decided that the show has no lead and they are taking a hardlined "it's an ensemble" stance. But I agree with you, this season heavily pushes Tyrion as the "lead" of the story. Sad too, because I feel both he and Allen deserve trophies.

While I get "why" they include everyone in the supporting categories I hate that Dinklage isn't put into the regular acting category this year as he had more screen time. Also I hate to see him and Alfie Allen potentially competing, because Allen hit it out of the park this season and may actually be a hurdle for Dinklage (or split votes).
Disappointed that Charles Dance isn't included. His work with Maisie was stellar.
I would have given the Emmy to Maisie halfway through the season, but Lena Heady's work towards the end may have changed my mind at least. Drunk-mad-Cersei was acting perfection.
And Go George for writing Blackwater! -
I team about 99% of the game. I'll solo occasionally during off times if I need a mish or two for tips or a quick SSA for a A-merit. But I get bored pretty much from the start. My alone time in-game is spent in the auctionhouse marketeering which isn't a lot of time anyway.
I like the social aspect of CoH and will always choose team over solo. I have a small group of in-game friends that have been playing together since issue 2 or 3 as well as many server friends. I love teaming. Love TFs where we bring in other people with my regular group (new friends are always awesome) and I really enjoy server events, raids and love incarnate trials. If it weren't for having friends I play with everynight I probably wouldn't log on that much. -
Yeah, its a good read.

As a Southerner I take offence, good sir!
There actually is a higher risk of morbidity in first cousin to first cousin mating as opposed to non-cousin mating. Mind you the percentage is still relatively small it is about 2x that of non-cousin mating. The numbers in the general population is about 2 percent where in cousin to cousin its around 4 percent for birth defects. -
Bill still very much lives by the social mores of the Southern gentleman of the mid 19th century. The thought of having relations with a member of his family no matter how extended doesn't jibe with his upbringing.

I wouldn't put money on Jason not being a were-panther just yet. If I remember correctly it isn't the first full moon, but you have to go through an entire moon cycle, then the next full moon will cause the first change. I'd find it hard to believe they are taking that aspect out of the Jason story.
Count me as one of the people hoping Tara was dead-dead. I really liked her character season 1, but after season 2 she just turned into a whiney emo mess. I don't see the vamp thing ending well for her at all. -
Yeah, from everything I read about this before it came out, I was expecting there to be nods and winks to the "Alien" world and set in the same universe. What I didn't expect is there to be such a (perceived) deliberate connection. Maybe it was just subterfuge, but what we got I wasn't expecting (such a direct connection to the original). Now that doesn't mean that's what worked or didn't work though. The problem isn't what was or wasn't done to canon. The problem was weaknesses in the story and characters. If they didn't show the last images of the pseudo/proto xenomorph the movie wouldn't have been any stronger or weaker. The problems came way earlier in the film.....in the script actually.
It's a good science fiction movie but it's also a pretty flawed film. I think the sequal (if done) has potential to be a better movie and maybe (hopefully) fill in some of the blanks. -

Pam is the best.
Loved Jessica playing the "I'm older than you card" on Newlin.
