Joffrey (or rather Cersei) names Tywin, his hand. Jamie was named head of the Kingsguard. Neither will take their roles yet as they are both off to war.

Hint without spoilers though- someone will need to fill Tywin's role as the hand while he is at war....and it's awesome.

Oh yeah. Just finished book 2. So good.
  2. As I said, I too love Seinfeld, but I'm just saying I'm not sure its the best TV show of all time. That's all. Not a slap at it. Yes, it's very funny, just not the best ever. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I wasn't just talking about the students/young people though. Also note that I said afterward that it didn't ruin the experience for me one bit.

Edit- wait you haven't seen the movie yet and you are arguing that point???? uh ok I'll wait and see what you have to say tomorrow.

Greatest sitcom of all time... greatest TV show of all time.

No other sitcom comes anywhere close. All of your irreverent, anti-feel-good sitcoms like Arrested Development, The Office, etc. They all owe their success to Seinfeld. It pioneered the genre; they did it first and they did it the best. Almost every episode has an unforgettable moment... at least beyond the rough first season, which is still funnier than most sitcoms.
I'm not going to argue the importance of Seinfeld. It was hugely important to todays comedy. BUT it is not the best TV series of all time. I might give you a shot at best broadcast TV show, but I'm sorry HBO has put out several shows that I think are far better than Seinfeld (which I love). And while Seinfeld did all those wonderful things it was a standard multi camera sitcom. There are other shows that todays comedy owes bunches and that's single camera shows like Scrubs and Arrested Development. Because today the single camera comedy far surpasses the dreck pumped out by the Seinfeld way (multi cameras and studio audiences). (Save BBT and maybe HIMYM)
  5. The HULU episodes do have the replacement music. Wiki has a section in the WKRP entry about where music was replaced and what some of the original songs were. For instance in the Thanksgiving episode that's been talked about, the scene where Arthur walks in the control booth Johnny was originally playing Dogs by Pink Floyd.

I'm like you. I was going just because I like Xmen and went in with very low expectations. Prepared to be surprised. Pleasantly so. Enjoy.

Taxi. Ensemble cast of taxi drivers in NY. Hillarious funny.

WKRP in Cincinnati. Radio station hillarity before Newsradio (which I also reccomend) If you only watch one episode make it the Thanksgiving one. So funny!
For the life of me, I thought turkeys could fly.

It's not "all that funny". It's hilarious!

Dunno if anyone else saw it, but there appeared to be another cameo. At least it looked like to me...when Raven shifted to a more adult form, it looked A LOT like Rebecca Romijin.

This is the character. At one time she went by Angel less as a codename, more because it was her first name. Later she became Tempest. I would agree it was kind of a bad choice of character and name. I would almost think they cast the actress first because of her star being on the rise and her famous parents: Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet (you can totally see the resemblance to both)

    That was Rebecca Romijin, yes.
  11. I'm a big UK and US office fan. The pilot episode of the US should seem familiar to a UK fan, but from there they diverge in good ways. Michael Scott is more the good natured bumbling idiot compared to Gervaise's more self centered and callous David Brent. Both are similar and completely different at the same time. The cringe factor is there but not as dark for the most part as the UK version. And like the UK version is to some Yanks, some of the US humor may be lost on our Brit friends. Give at least the first season a shot and see what you think. The dynamic between Jim and Pam (Our Tim and Dawn) is sweet and their arc over the course of the show is very rewarding. Where the US office really does well is the secondary cast. How it's going to fair now sans Michael Scott is still up in the air.

If you haven't tried Arrested Development give it a whirl. Easily, in my opinion, the funniest and smartest original US series of the last decade. Cut way too short (thanks again Fox) but completely hilarious. Three solid seasons.

Californication- watching a brilliant mind find completely new ways to self destruct every week. Duchovny at his best and most charming.

You may like Episodes as its about a British writing duo brought over to the states to redo their award winning and uber smart Brit Com in America..... You can probably guess where it goes. Not sure if it's out on video yet as it just had its first season.

Curb your Enthusiasm has a slightly similar cringe worthy vibe to the Office and darker like the UK version.
  12. Spoiler answer:

I took it Charles was still holding him while trying to penetrate "the void" of the helm to try and stop Eric at the same time. If he let Shaw free he could unleash untold destruction on everyone involved, including the two fleets about to go at each other. That's how I took it.
  13. Saw it. Really liked it. Very glad to be pleasantly surprised by a movie. Good cast. Good script, much better than most super movies. Great use of powers. Actual emotional scenes. Only two real complaints. 1. At times characters seemed too easily persuaded to one side or the other. 2. I really wish this was a reboot and we could have seen some more of the original team instead of the mix and match that we got. But neither of those are a deal breaker or ruined the movie. One of the better super movies. Top 5 for sure, maybe top 3. Will have to stew on it a bit more.
  14. Chance for build up is nice and a viable option in PA.
  15. Yeah, I gave into the temptation. And now I'm about a third of the way through A Clash of Kings.
  16. How about Lizbeth Worthington? I wouldn't call that a bastardization of the name. It'a nickname.
  17. Look at your superhero. Now back to me.
  18. I plan on finishing with the books, then watching the Swedish trilogy (which is highly recommended by friends), then see the American remake. From everything thing I've read and heard, Noomi Repace is Lisbeth Salander but I like the Fincher/Reznor combo. I'm intrigued.
  19. I have heard it is better than book 1.....must resist.......must resist!
  20. Just finished the first book. Love, love, loved it! Couldn't put it down. Now I'm torn, I've had the new Sookie Stackhouse book since it was released a few weeks ago, but I'm dying to tear into Game of Thrones sequal. Decisions, decisions.
  21. A+ for the music. Reznor and Fincher are so well matched. "The feel bad movie of this Christmas" LOL

The movie looks great and true to the book. Still need to read book three.
