The wording here is important to me, so I'm going to clarify something right now:

This is not about anyone's ideal society. Many people didn't even write about their ideal villain. More than a couple people, either on the boards or in the Survey's "Other" box wrote something like "Now that I have to pick an option, I realize that I fall short of my own expectations".

This is about to what standards people would hold themselves if they were a hero and how that can be juxtapositioned with our collective concept of a "Super Hero". Nothing more or less.
  2. From TVguide.com.

Also, apparently Dr. Carl will opt to play Eddie with an Elvis Prestley slant. I wonder why... Have mercy.

Edit: I was really hoping that Puck or Finn would play Frank 'N' Furter. Unfortunately, there's not really a story way you can justify Puck playing anything resembling non-hetero and Finn makes too much sense for Brad.
  3. There could be a "Marcus Cole Club" in which only people with legal I.D. proving that they are the one and only Marcus Cole are invited.

It would be more populated than The Crucible.

My "other" answer here was rather elaborate, but here goes:
So, here's some director's commentary on this question:

I forgot to put "Arrest and leave alone". It's a perfectly valid option to just arrest and arrest again. It's what Batman and 95% of the rest of the vigilante populous does. I meant to put it, but ended up leaving it out.

That oversight resulted in a question that reads "You are going to compromise your decency. Now choose how."

People rebelled against other questions both by posting in this thread and using the "Other" box. It surprises me how many people didn't call me out for this one.

Anyway, awesome elaborations, Chase! I'm still looking them over.

Number 7. For a brief while, "Loved one" was almost triple the rate of "10 random people". It surprised me how many heroes would let 10 random people go.

Don't get me wrong: I don't know what I'd choose. It's purposely impossible and designed to make you feel like you chose the wrong answer.

    Still... that was weird.
  7. Here are the results! As you can see, there are a lot of written responses. I'll be posting those as well in a separate post. For now, here are the raw results. Enjoy!

This kicked it for me. I bet it's an Incarnate ability.

  11. IMPORTANT UPDATE: According to the survey system I'm using, I will only be able to draw from the first 100 answers without paying the premium service price ($19.95). Currently, I have 91 votes. For that reason, I may be closing this down much sooner than expected.

    Thank you!

Yeah, there are a lot of directions this survey could have taken. If I tried to accommodate the vast variety of people out there, however, things would quickly spiral out of control to beyond what the survey system could handle. I'd have to have branching paths and everything.

This survey was intended to figure out one thing: How people would work to fulfill the definition of "Hero". That means different things to different people.

Is a hero Batman who will never compromise his moral code? Or is he a failure for allowing his unbending ways to let criminals such as the Joker live?

Through a very indirect means, this survey was meant to address that.

Still, motivation is a factor I should have considered. I am getting enough criticism and support to justify a second edition of the survey a month or two down the line. I will integrate this then.

    Thanks for your support!

While I understand your concern that public urination is technically a sex crime, I was referring to more what is "classically" considered a sexual crime. Let's keep it at: "Things that would make a fascinating episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit".

    How would you decide?

Right now, it seems like your answer is "I don't have enough information, so I'd save neither".

Quickly now, they're getting away, and you don't have a Wikipedia/legal file/their motivations clearly stated on your Pip Boy.

Good point. I tried to make the quiz in response to the debates as to what the perfect morality is. Multiple people will claim that their morality is the best, while that view conflicts with others.

I just want to ascertain which moral structures are most popular amongst my friends and contacts. I know some people that would never kill under any circumstances ever. I know one person who hates the concept of Batman because a real hero would have eviscerated the whole of the Rogues Gallery by now.

I concede to your accurate point.

Update!: At least one question has an a very popular answer that I find deeply surprising. I can't say which, though, as I feel that would tilt the survey. If you already answered the survey, post here or PM me and I'll let you in on the details.

You're the only one who picked those answers! You... you monster! You're an anomaly of society, and your sense of justice is abhorrent. Your going too hard/too soft on crime is shameful, and I'm blocking you.

    Thanks!

Oddly, the internal system has no sense of continuity. I can't find out "Who picked Choice A for question 1 and choice C for question 7". As such, it's hard to draw any correlations such as "Those that would kill more easily are less likely to save ten other people". Frustrating, but the answers I'm getting are very interesting.

Note: The most evenly split question so far is "Would you die to prevent a tragedy?" The answers are split between "Never", "Yes, no matter what the size" and "Yes, but only if the number of people is enough".

I wonder why that's the one that is the hardest to agree on...

    Anyway, full results Friday!

Thanks. I got a comment anonymously to that effect as well. I didn't know how to convey "Trying to save both opens the possibility that you will completely fail".

How would you suggest I construct that question in the future?

(Side note: I'm noticing typos and questions that don't have a "None" option but really should, such as #6. My face is red on such mistakes.)

    Nice rationalization!
  23. Congratulations! You have super powers and have opted to become a super hero! Good for you.

Now, before we send you out onto the streets, we need to know your super heroic moral code. Where you bend, where you break, and where you break others. This will help us figure out what kind of super hero you should be.

**LINK REMOVED** The survey has reached its maximum!
Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey and increasing our understanding of super heroes everywhere.

Please use this thread both to discuss your answers and provide constructive criticism of this survey's structure. Survey results will be posted anonymously on Friday
