Cherries 'n Cream by Manoa - A little too bland for my taste.
[/ QUOTE ]
No offense to Juggertha (with whom I concur that Baisleac's costume was the best of the lot)...but I gave this a try 'cause the thread thus far has been pretty constructive thus far and generally, not only the negative was discussed, but also the positive aspects of a person's costume. Plus, if there was any negative, tips on sprucing up the costume were also provided. Unfortunately, I have no clue what to improve upon since the comment above provides nothing constructive to build off of. And to be a little frank, it kinda made me feel embarrassed for even giving it a go.
I personally feel that the full critiques is really what made this thread shine. They help people identify what works, what doesn't and the judge's rational for their decision. Without the full critiques, it just feels like another costume contest in Atlas. -
Yeah, takes "think of the children" to a whole new level, doesn't it...

In fact this thread was created BECAUSE we were trying to keep things light and laugh about things because there was a relatively 'angry' discussion going on the other thread. So this one was made so we can all go ha ha ha and move on with our lives.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heck, that's the way I've been viewing this thread. To "mock and jeer the discontenters" would require malicious intent in the creation of the thread...which I really didn't see whatsoever. It's more so been "That last thread inspired me, let's let our hair down and have some fun...just bear in mind that direct links of that fun cannot be posted here *wink wink*").
[ QUOTE ]
The mods did not give this thread their 'blessing'. They didn't give it their anything at all! They continue to monitor for rule-breaking, which while yes maybe this 'skirts' around the rules but if it's not a direct violation then there is no rules broken.
[/ QUOTE ]
This. No links to the artwork in question were posted and if someone wants to view said artwork, they have to actively seek out. To the best of my knowledge, no forum rules were broken.
CaptainScience - Your argument in the previous thread was that tasteful NSFW pieces should not be posted since they do not follow the forum rules in the most literal sense. Well, if you go by a literal interpretation of the rules, then this thread is okay. So what is your problem? Honestly, it seems that your only beef is COH/V related NSFW art is even being done. If that is the case, then I'd venture to guess that you'd be against any discussion that remotely even references such pieces of art. The problem is that by making something like that (i.e. innuendo and vague references to "adult" topics) against the rules, such rules would be completely subjective and pretty difficult to moderate. -

I also disagree that this section is unfriendly. It's remarkably friendly...
[/ QUOTE ]
This has pretty much been my experience on this particular forum thus far. I wouldn't consider myself a "regular" in this forum since I've mostly been a artzy lurker and only started posting here fairly recently (TA encouraged me to get a DA site, so I figured while I was at it, may as well start posting here as well!). I must say that the "regulars" have been pretty darn friendly towards me thus far...a good number of regulars from this forum even added me as DA friends right off the bat and welcomed me with open arms.
From what I've been able to gather, the rule of thumb in this forum is pretty much the same as anywhere else (RL or teh intarwebs)..."do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In other words, to be received kindly, all you have to do is respect others' opinions and don't be a jerk. -
Hmmm...I think I'll give this a try. Be gentle to me as well, I'm also new.
Cherries 'n Cream
(Note: all 5 colors have been used...the white and one of the reds are blended in the hair)
P.S. Apologies for the poor quality of the screenies...I'm in desperate need of a new computer with a more kickin' video card. -
There's set among the new costume sets called "Tuxedo" that incorporates non-wedding pack costume pieces that were already in existence prior to the pack's release. The stuff from the wedding pack are not called "Tuxedo"...the jackets from the pack are called "Deluxe Tux" and "Butler Tux." Both are their own categories under the "Jackets" section and are animated.
If you don't see animated tails on your tux (which you shouldn't when viewing the tuxedo option on the new costume set), then you're seeing stuff that was already in existence and everything should be in order. -

But we sold my house and just bought a new one. And I have 30 days to move! So i am going crazy! I only have a handful left to do, so at least that is something.
[/ QUOTE ]
Congratulations on the new house!I purchased my first home (condo more accurately) earlier this year and had a 30-day escrow myself. It was absolutely nuts and I can totally understand what you must be going through right now! Best of luck with the closing and the move!

aww the pose makes her look like a very young, very innocent Larissa.
She's adorable, I love it.
PS Thank you for the pm
[/ QUOTE ]
*compares that concept to the piece Alex just did and laughs*
[/ QUOTE ]
I giggled.
Very nice piece that you have there, Larissa! The electricity feels "crackly" and I totally dig the sharp angles of the face (kinda reminiscent of 3rd edition D&D elves). -

But only in game, K? -

My quote was not directed at anyone in particular and I apologize if you felt it was directed towards you.
[/ QUOTE ]
No worries Niviene, I didn't feel picked on! Just read your post, thought about my earlier posts and felt that some clarification on my part may have been in order. -
[ QUOTE ]
This section is absolutely for anyone and everyone that cares to post or just lurk. There are no "outsiders" as far as I am concerned. When it comes to these forums, we are all part of "The Community".
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope my earlier comments were not misunderstood and just want to point out that my earlier arguments was not intended to say that no one outside the art community is allowed to post in this area (heck, I don't post in this forum regularly myself). I wholeheartedly agree that everyone on the boards should feel welcome no matter where the go. The point I was trying to make was that each forum tends to it's own sub-community within the general forum community (I believe Ex Libris once described this as "micro-community" vs. "macro-community"). And each "sub-community" tends to form its own identity and sense of what is acceptable and what isn't. For example...what is considered acceptable in PWNZ may not be considered appropriate in most other forums, stuff posted in Justice may not necessarily work in Virtue, posts that are considered okay in the Stalker forum may not mesh well with the Defender forum, etc.
The point I was trying to make was that those who were objecting to the posts seemed unfamiliar with what is considered "acceptable" by the more regular posters of this particular forum. The "issue" had not been much of an issue until these posters started posting in this forum. Initially, the regulars politely posted that the "issue" had never been a problem before...to which those who objected continued to make it an issue by arguing their strict interpretation of the "rulz." And the debate sparked from there.
Basically, the problem boils down to "what has been accepted practice by the regular posters in this sub-community that hasn't been an issue in the past" vs. "the newer posters' more strict interpretation of the rules." -
[ QUOTE ]
My problem with the "don't click, no one is forcing you" doesn't make it any less against the forum rules.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could never get behind the "no one is forcing you" argument. I think the question still remains as to whether or not it's okay to post a link to a NSFW work if the work is "tasteful" and the site that is hosting said image has some sort of age-verification (which it seems hasn't been as much of a issue in the past). That's one of those hazy gray areas that I think some folks would appreciate clarification on. -
[ QUOTE ]
If a link isn't marked NSFW but is age-verified on the other end, is it still a NSFW link?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd argue yes...and in my opinion is even more risky for some folks. For example, a risque piece is posted on DA...DA is age-verified, so everything's kosher, right? Not really, because the image is still an "adult" image...and if I click on the link while at work and I just so happen to be logged into my DA account, I could be in a lot of hot water with my bosses for viewing risque images on my work computer. It's "not safe for work" in it's most literal meaning. -

*** You are ignoring this user ***
[/ QUOTE ]
I can only imagine they are making the same noises as the Adults from the Charlie Brown cartoons
luckily im not here to debateim here to see art and chat with fellow artists and collectors and really have no intrest in what someone whom just wanders in to debate has to say.
so yeah long winded debates full of sound and fury where im forced to listen to someones oponions and how they affect me ? nah thats what ignore is for .
[/ QUOTE ]
Meh, I'm none too fond of the ignore feature. The little bit of OCD in me likes to see how a conversation progresses (good and bad) and finds "*** You are ignoring this user *** " a bit irritating. As I said before, it's probably a side-effect of the crazy pills they make us take over on the Justice forum...
Also (correct me if I'm wrong), but wasn't this thread created to discuss and/or debate the "controversy?" -
[ QUOTE ]
Makes me wonder what's next: Cabal witches? Abandoned Sewers "Tentacles"? Council Vampyri? Malta Titans? Circle of Thorns Succubi?

Crazy Old Cat Lady and her pussycat (I mean Mr. Fluffykins you pervs!)

P.S. I know I've already thrown her into the pot and it just dawned on me that that comment could be taken the wrong way as begging. I promise I'm not...I just thought that would be a perfect opportunity for a funny! -

Heh Alex I'm absolutely loving these pieces. Novas and Devoured lol so dirty

A little dirt never hurt anyone...
I've said it once and I'll say it again...fantastic work Alex! -
[ QUOTE ]
However, it does seem to be a bit self-serving to object to the moderator action on a public, teen-rated game forum. Part of using these forums is agreeing to follow the forum rules/guidelines, yet now people are upset/shocked that the rules are enforced?
How about people post constructively (and only seen one post so far that did this) on how to continue to let people know about their artwork while keeping in the forum guidelines. The other thread seems filled with a bit too much sarcasm to take as a constructive suggestion.
I know the community reps and mods are looking into the guidelines, but until the self-righteous anger gives way I doubt anything would convince them that there might have been another way to deal with similar posts.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think people are upset about the mods taking action and doing their jobs. I think folks are more so taking issue with people coming to this forum (a forum that they don't normally frequent) to create controversy over stuff that has not been a problem in the past. -
Beautiful work...I absolutely love how the background and portions of the limbs are off focus. It gives a sense of motion and feels like an "action shot" taken with a camera.

[ QUOTE ]
You people make me sick. I would never do any kind of art that wasn't rated G for general audiences!
I most certainly wouldn't do them for no extra charge and then post them on my DA account, either.

I see what you did there... -
