...tactfully advise the player to play through the game the proper way.
[/ QUOTE ]
When are you people going to get it?
There is no 'proper way'.
If the player is having fun, leave it at that.
All this sanctimonious BS coming from the self appointed 'Guardians of the One True Way' is getting really old.
To the OP, THANKS for helping another person. -

So, basically, the only way you seem to have fun is to try and push the rewards of the game to the limit.
Apparently you are not alone.
It seems many of the players that feel this way also have no ability to police themselves to not break the intended system. Seen that for years in gaming, I get it.
These same players don't like the actions taken to stop said behavior.
Like you, many of them are determined like some sort of 60s sit-in protest, if they keep making noise, it will change something.
Did I miss anything?
Now, my rebuttal.
Get over yourselves. You don't run the game, you have to abide by whatever those that do see fit to impart to the players. If that is not fun for you, then stop playing.
If you don't want to stop playing, then find another form of fun within the game, because pushing the numbers to the limit is simply not what those who run the game intend to be the center of it's draw.
For those of you that cannot grasp this, I really no of no other way to explain it. -

Thanks for the giggle.
I have started to see a higher number of players that, if they are not getting XP that is 'teh ub3r', then they think something is wrong.
I am happy for the new players, but I think just like we had to deal with when the game was new, we are in a state where many new players have to learn that this MMO is not like the others... -
Been with my lady for over 15 years. She does come first.
But, as I have said to MANY of my gaming buddies, why on earth would you want to be with someone that actively disapproves of something you enjoy doing?
Seriously. If the person you are with dislikes one of your favorite hobbies, it really is time to find another mate, because that one is NOT accepting you for who you are, only what they think they can visualize you as in their mind's eye, or what they think they can mold you into given the chance.
None of the gaming buddies I have that have been foolish enough to end up with a game-hater are happy. Not one. -

I realize every MMO has bug problems, but compared to my experiences with other MMOs, CoX is the worst in this regard in that:
1. They released Issue 12 with many of these major bugs known and uncorrected. The release was motivated more by a marketing deadline than having a quality product.
2. After the release, we have waited for three weeks with no fixes to major issues of client crashes and teammate buff displays (among others). I am used to other MMOs having bugs of this severity fixed within 3 days, not 3 weeks. For almost an entire month of paid subscription, this product has not been performing to my expectations.
Yes, I realize an MMO is an enormously complex project prone to various bugs and other problems. But that doesn't excuse what I see as poor decision-making in regards to product quality and a substandard ability to respond to and correct these problems. This isn't a case of "Oops, we overlooked that -- we'll get it fixed 'Soon.'" This is a case of "An internal decision was made regarding the release date for which we're unable to offer anymore details. You'll have to live with it for now, and we'll try to find time to fix the bugs later while we continue work as usual with new hover animations, veteran pets' AI tweaks, etc." There are issues here beyond simple programming oversights that I believe need to be evaluated and addressed.
Lighthouse, despite my personal feelings towards how my gaming experience has been affected, I still want to thank you for the hard work you put into here as a community manager. You do a wonderful job as a liason between the players and the devs, and you do it very professionally. In this arena, my experience in these forums is actually better than any other MMO I've ever played, and you and your team deserve a bit of applause.

Thanks for laugh, I needed that!
To those that make every single aspect of this game work, I salute you.
This guy has no clue as to just what's involved, that humans are imperfect beings, certainly never played many MMO's and probably needs an exterminator for that bug up there.

Thank you so much for making this thread and for all the positive responses.
Sign me up for the Sister Flame Fan Club. It might even get me to play on Freedom *shudder*.
As others have said, I just had a particularly bad day yesterday and this thread has allowed me to gain some serious perspective on life.

Without a doubt, this is not only what I think the PvP mechanics in this game should be, it is in fact EXACTLY what I thought they WOULD be when PvP was originally implement for Co*, with the possible exception of having a PvP build out to switch to, which is an excellent idea.
Really, when I found out that no mechanics were added in any way to prevent griefing in PvP, I knew it was doomed to be a 'red-headed-stepchild' of play-styles in this game. After all the things the developers of this game got so right, they really dropped the ball on PvP in terms of implementation.
Honestly, if the basic layout of the PvP mechanics described here were implemented, then there would be no need to have the flags in the PvP zones only. You could have the flag anywhere, in any zone, open up all zones to both sides and have a huge increase in players because now you could have true comic-based battles, complete with the monologuing before the battle (Challenge) begins.
This system could even allow for the view point of having true, free for all PvP zones still in the game, be they the ones that exist now or others, because you could learn to PvP before entering the true 'free-for-all' zones and be prepared.
If this were implemented, I would PvP, thus spending even more time playing this game and I know others that have left who would probably return.
To conclude, I truly thought that a system like this would be what this game implemented from the start of PvP.
