Well, Seethe is 49 now and more than ready for a good Recluse SFing, so how about Saturday morning, starting about 10am?
I'll throw up a new thread about it. -

Jesus wept - i thought i lived in the south yet it's a 4 hour drive from Hampshire! I pity the fool from 'Boro!
Anyway, 18-20th if that's the date - i can swing by Bristol if MJ needs picking up if he's gonna be around too..or anyone else along that route/close enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hopefully I wont be in bristol by then. Aiming to move back up north of the border so i am not sure how available i will be for this.
MJ

Hey, at least there's not a sea between you and there.
I'll check flights and junk within the next couple of day, but frankly Friday night might be a bit of a push as I'll no doubt be working daytime. I shall investigate! -

I want a Controller, and I'm quite interested in a PvP type, as I've not done much PvP before. I would go Illusion/Kinetics but they are so common it hurts. So, I think I've decided upon Gravity/Kinetics, which should do a turn in both PvP and PvE (team based in both cases really).
So, the questions are:
How good for soft control is the Wormhole + AoE Immobilise combination? I'd like the pseudo-Hold for use in group PvE situations.
I assume Singularity is the best Controller pet for actual Control, but just how low is its damage? I guess the actual question is, how do you Gravs slot your Sings?
I think I'm pretty much set on the Secondary and know whats its about. Oh, except, is Repel any good? I'm thinking it would be more so in PvP to keep those dastardly melee-types away, but how effective is it?
I'll try and fit the Leadership toggles into the build, and probably Leaping for the little bit of Mez protection, and I'd better have Fitness for Stamina to start with, possibly to be dropped after the acquisation of Tranference
I understand Psionic is pretty much favoured in terms of Epic for the mez protection, but I'd like to go Primal for all the powers really. Energy Blast should be nice in PvP, Conserve Power great if Fitness is dropped, and Power Boost is ... well ... Power Boost ...
Any and all criticism accepted, as long as its constructive :P -
Seethe, lvl 46 (maybe 47 by Saturday afternoon) Fire/DA/Socco Brute, would like to register his interest in attending.
... if there's space available.
... and you have the Lackey space.
... and if you can pin down an exact start time. -

See, told you there was nothing to it

Well, I could tell you it was all sooo easy and that I wasn't worried for a second, but:
A. I'd be lying.
B. I'd get smacked-down Karma-style next time round.

There's lvl 50 Villians now on Defiant, surely?
Or are you confusing Influence and Infamy, which both abbreviate to Inf? -
/em is smug because he managed to get all his pigg files on CD before the formatting took place, therefore saving himself considerable amounts of downloading
Just don't mention anything involving the words "Half", "Life", "2", "Steam" or anything of that sort. -
Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!
Crazy, am I? We'll see whether I'm crazy or not.

We live and learnDamn, this thread feels like home.
I miss my PC.

Hello again, Noir.Didn't realise you were having similar problems ...
Update: New PSU, mainboard and graphics card installed, and apparently able to switch on and boot up without smoke/fire/explosions/swearing.
... unfortunately I left my Windows XP disc at my parent's house when previously fixing one of their PC's, so it'll be tonight before I attempt to repair Windows.
Now I'm off to search the Internet for what my Windows Adminstrator password should be so I can initiate the repair, as I've never had one in the past.
... I think ... -

Get hold of some Arctic Silver 5, then go to the Website and read the application instructions. SEVERAL TIMES.
Oh, and clean off any existing gunk from both the CPU and Heatsink with some isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth before applying fresh.
[/ QUOTE ]
YOU SEE!?!?!!?!?!?!?!? TECHNICAL STUFF WHAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT TILL LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!!!!111111
Not that I'm actually switching Processors or Heatsinks, it's more a transplant. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not a lot more to it than that, other than all fiddly technical bits
[/ QUOTE ]
This, you see, is the bit that worries me.Chaplain mentioned something about Thermal Paste, which I may have to go shopping for on Saturday.
Any suggestions on how to "dispose" of evil, banjaxxed, old motherboard? -
[ QUOTE ]
Have you confirmed it isn't possible to take them to court and demand refunding/replacement? Warranty or not, you still have your consumer rights.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, probably validated the warranty with the swapping of graphics cards and stuff, nevermind switching PSU's, breaking motherboards etc etc.
To be honest, I didn't realise it was still under warranty. Their base warranty package must've been longed than I remembered. -
[ QUOTE ]
oh, and bear in mind you'llmost likely have to do a complete reinstall of windows, including drivers etc. so that's a good couple of hours even after all the hardware's talking to itself porperly...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, and as I've mentioned to Chaplain via email, this part has me worried. My data I don't particularily give a monkey's about, I don't think there's anything vital if it comes to reformatting etc., however my Windows disc is Evesham-supplied.
And we've already learned how dirty and underhanded they are, right kids?
Either it's just a regular Windows disc with a Evesham logo stamped on it for effect, or it'll be of absoultely no use to anything but the factory-supplied system.
So, yes, there may be another delay while a proper copy of XP wings its way to me. But we'll see ...
Edit: Oh, and apparently several boxes have arrived for me at home. w00t!Now I just have to print out several pages relating to motherboard replacement procedures ... at work ...

With nuke it's great if you can handle running into a mob and hitting it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which was the problem. After a level or so of 'running into a mob and dying before I could fire Soul Drain + Blackstar' I've repecced out of Soul Drain and into Dark Embrace. Back to the drawing board
[/ QUOTE ]
My plan is going to be this:
1. Use */Dark debuffs to herd/neuter a nice group of foes
2. Soul Drain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111
3. General Radiation-based AoE carnage >

Sooo...
Any progress yet?
Just wondering if you'd managed to break anything else in the meantime :P
BTW, I wouldn't worry (if you were) about Toybox leaving you behind. Since the patch isn't going up until next week, I'm not likely to be playing him until then...
[/ QUOTE ]
Dabs and Overclockers received a couple of orders two nights ago:
Gigabyte GA K8NE Motherboard
Tagan 530W PSU
Floppy Disk Drive
Mobo is a newer replacement for the old one, and has a single PCI-E slot for use with the other new graphics card I had. Hopefully it's killing two birds with one stone. Either way, eBay's going to have a few more items sooner or later.
Should be here today, so installation should happen Saturday. Holding of your breath shouldn't start yet though.
Edit: BTW, it took me until yesterday to realise that "no CoX make MBar ... something something ..." could be twisted into something resembling innuendo. Jiaozy, you dirty-minded jerk. -
[ QUOTE ]
Socket 754 mobos are goin cheap cheap cheap at the moment....try having a look here , there are a few decent mobo's in the clearance line so you should be able to get back up and running ASAP...theres one on there for £20 + Vat actually....
[/ QUOTE ]
Aaaahhhhh, the 754's are in their clearance section ... no wonder I couldn't find them earlier!
Thanks!
Edit: Also on the shopping list is a Floppy Disk Drive. The amount of grief regarding the BIOS I could've avoided if I had one is shocking. -

no CoX make MBar..something
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds so very, very wrong...
[/ QUOTE ]
Simpsons quote from their Shinning episode encase anyone wondered. -
[ QUOTE ]
i could be wrong but when u remove the small battery from the mainboard for a couple of seconds.. it resets the bios right
Could be wrong though
[/ QUOTE ]
Tried, failed. I'm afraid all that does is reset your BIOS settings, not the actual BIOS. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay more screwed than that.
[ QUOTE ]
Might be a shot in the dark BUT do you have a big-enough powersupply? Modern computers need a lot of power and a big new graphics card can be just the thing that takes it over the edge. And if your powersupply can't deliver that which is asked from it weird things can happen. Strange computerproblems were solved by upgrading the powersupply. AND if you're gona change you mainboard you might run into problems again if your powersupply isn't big enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, recently was upgraded to a 450W (supplied by the very generous Green Jet), but I'm thinking of going "better safe than sorry" and splashing out on a Tagan with at least 500W belting through it.
That'll show the lot of them!
/em shakes fist at Evesham, and not for the first time -
Happy birthday, Veli!
<cough> ... for tomorrow ... </cough>
One of my housemate's birthday is also tomorrow. He used to play CoH a bit as Seru, but long since left the game. If anyone cares. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ah well, good luck resurrecting your pc, but bear in mind you could replace just the Motherboard for about £40-£50 and have a functional pc again sooner than it takes to save up for a more comprehensive system upgrade...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, am thinking about just replacing the board. The only things that are stopping me are the facts that:
1. New graphics card may still not function fully
2. BIOS update may yet again bugger it up
I happen to have a PCI-E graphics card from a previous experiement, so maybe a new Socket 754 board with PCI-E slots would solve both problems.
To the Internet! Objective: research!
