I know I've had forced hits on veteran attacks after missing with a regular attack, despite grossly different accuracies. Either that, or I've had the longest (and really, most pointless) lucky streak in the history of the game.
I swear, it worked differently a few days ago. I'm not cr-...
Okay, I'm not that cr-...

I'm not THAT KIND of crazy.

Quote:On the contrary, what I said has everything to do with what you said. I was making a direct comparison to the additional damage mitigation provided by KB, over and above what KD offers, due to the extra time critters spend flying through the air and bouncing around in ragdoll mode, which is quite comparable to longer duration status effects versus shorter duration status effects.I can also argue that there's almost no situation where Avoid effects are preferable to no Avoid effects.
Pity none of that has anything at all to do with what I actually talked about in my post, isn't it?
KB offers more damage mitigation than KD. Ergo, the point you're attempting to make is that there's almost no situation in which more damage mitigation is preferable to less damage mitigation.
As I said, good luck with that. -
I missed three times in a row here. The first miss was with Fire Blast, which had a 95% hit chance. That should have forced a hit on the next attack, but as seen in this screenshot, I missed with the Nemesis Staff. And then my third attack, Blaze, missed again.
That has never happened to me before. As I understood the mechanics of the streak breaker, when an attack missed and it was at the limit of allowed misses, the next attack is supposed to be a forced hit, with no hit roll made. I've manipulated the streak breaker in just that way more times than I can count, to do exactly what I was trying to do when I got that triple miss, using a veteran reward attack. And I got the expected forced hit. But on this character, it's... almost like the streak breaker is checking individual power accuracy on the fly, or being skewed by the DoTs or auto-hit self-affecting powers.
I had no toggles running when this occurred. No buffs, no PBAoEs, no anchor debuffs, not even Sprint. I just used Fire Blast, Nemesis Staff, Radiant Aura and Blaze, in that order. Those were the only four powers active in that entire sequence of events. And that's what's really confusing, because the last time I experienced two misses in a row was when I had a Stunned minion standing in my TA/Dark/Dark's OG radius (which was buggering up the hit rolls by applying forced hits on that minion after i missed an attack on something else, which subsequently left me open for a miss on my next attack). This... this is... weird, because there's nothing tangible to account for it. -
I had one several years ago. It was a freebie, back before they were being sold, given away online as a marketing campaign. It worked, but it didn't impress me enough to make me give up using my Space Pen, so I tossed it into a box and forgot about it.
Then I dug it out a few months ago, discovered that whatever they suspended the graphite in had solidified, leaked out or evaporated. No more worky. Trashed it. *shrug* -
Quote:You could also argue that there's almost no situation in which a 6, 8, 10s or longer Hold is preferable to a 3s Hold.I would actually argue that there is almost no situation in which knockback is preferable to knockdown, but that's neither here nor there.
Good luck with that. -
Quote:It's a morality tale, and Rick is a noble idealist. In his eyes, everyone is worth saving. It's highly likely that he feels personally responsible for the apocalypse, because it started when he was unconscious and maybe, possibly, he could have done something to prevent it if he'd been awake. So he's going to do everything he can to save as many people as possible, even if they aren't the best examples of humanity, because in doing so, he preserves his humanity. My question is this: how can you let a guy like Merle live? Setting aside the fact that he's a racist jerk, he was wasting ammo, assaulted another member of the team, and tried to take over the group at gunpoint (to what end, we don't even know!). I get "we don't kill the Living", but this guy (and his brother, no doubt) are going to be nothing but trouble. At the very least, exile should be an option. Of course, then he would just work his way back to the group and kill everyone...
Even if Merle dies or is later shown to be beyond redemption, he represents a test of Rick's moral fortitude, and Rick will strive to pass that test. -
Quote:He was comatose for more than a month. How much longer is impossible to determine without further clues, but we know it had to be no less than a month because Morgan (Duane's father) said that they hadn't had hot water for a month. Rick had only been conscious for one day at that point.Still don't have a time frame for how long Rick was in a coma. How much time has passed since he was presumed dead (I assume when they heard the hospital was overrun they assumed he was a goner).
Based on the dessication of the flowers, I'm guessing that Rick had been alone in the hospital for somewhere between five and fourteen days. If we assume that the "fresh" corpse in the hallway was the last hospital worker, who was staying behind to take care of the immobile patients, then the flowers could have lasted for as long as three to four weeks, if she watered them just before being killed. Since Shane said nothing about the apocalypse when he brought the flowers to Rick, we know it didn't start the same day or week that Rick was shot.
So the best estimate is that Rick was in the hospital for six to eight weeks, the apocalypse started one or two weeks after he was admitted and he was alone for the last week, waking up shortly before or after his IV dried up.

Quote:No, not really shocking. You can attract or repel practically anything with a strong enough electromagnetic field. There are videos of frogs and mice being levitated in electromagnetic fields, in fact. If it has electrons, protons and/or neutrons, or their antimatter equivalents, it's affected by electromagnetism. So unless adamantium is made of something impossible, even in comic book universes, such as neutrinos, it's fair game for magnetic manipulation. You know what's more shocking than Magneto ripping out the Adamantium from Wolverine? That his powers work on non-ferrous metals!
Of course, that also means that Wolverine's skin, muscle, fat, bones and other tissues should have been equally affected, leaving him a rather nasty mess of discrete human body components separated and spread all over the place, if not outright disintegrated. But Magneto presumably has incredibly precise control over electromagnetism, capable of fine tuning the field to affect specific substances while not affecting others. -
I think that episode topped the first. I spent more time freaking out and yelling at the monitor than I have in years.
"One more thing. He's an organ donor." Perfect tension breaker.
Glenn got out! And the preview for next week's episode reunites Rick with Laurie, Shane and Carl, and brings Michael Rooker back for at least one more episode. I just spent a week bouncing up and down in anticipation of this episode... I don't know how I'm going to make it through the next week of waiting.
If I could marry a television show, this would be the one. <3 -
Smart. You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Quote:As to the comic itself, the zombies are more of a backdrop than anything else for the interaction between the people and how they cope with things going to hell. Yes, it is very depressing, but there are bright spots. Not very many, but some.
It's back on! Is that thunderstorm going to hit before they reach the trucks? SUSPENSE IS INTENSE!
Oh, crap, I hear it raining! Have to switch back to Dscalar NOW! O_O -
Running out of ways to say that this show is so damn incredible that I'm going into awesome overload. Rick manages to get out of the frying pan and goes straight into the fire. Tension keeps building. Something's going to happen soon.
Back on! -
Oh MY, that was an intense beginning to the second episode.
I hope Laurie and Shane get eaten.
I hope Glenn survives.
I wonder if that thing with Rick's hand was foreshadowing something.
And I wonder what he's going to do with that toy he snagged in the tank.

Quote:I'm emotionally invested in my favorite characters. So, Veterans, why do you effectively buy this game again and again?
I enjoy the freedom of expression provided by the game, from making costumes to selecting powersets and powers.
I like poking around under the hood to find ways to make specific concepts work the way I want them to work.
It's a slightly different experience every time I play it with different powers or powersets, or on teams, so it's a slightly different game each time I play.
It satisfies me, in some way, for some reason. -
Quote:As soon as I saw the hand reach for the teddy bear, I knew where they were going, but it still surprised me. I didn't think they'd actually show it. Excellent opening sequence, gave it a real sense of seriousness and dedication. The director is a Romero fan, and it shows. I was also impressed at the lack of punch-pulling with both the blood and kinetics involved in the gunplay. The first shooting in the series was brutal in oh-so-many wonderful ways... I guess I was surprised to see as much as I did, given that it's on TV and all.
Quote:My favorite moment was him coming down the hospital stairwell in the pitch black, lit only periodically by matches. What an absolutely perfect jump-fright moment, and the fact that they played it like they did only made me respect them more. They obviously understand the tropes of horror and are playing with them in really smart ways. -
I knew Atlanta was going to be overrun, but that moment when Rick turned the corner... yeah, it got me. I was shouting at the screen, bouncing and squirming in my chair. GO! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! GET OUT OF THERE! AAAAHHHHH!
I also knew he wouldn't be killed off in the first episode (never read the comic, but if they killed him now, it'd be really difficult to explain his presence in clips from other episodes), but the tank scene was still highly suspenseful.
Outstanding beginning to the series. If it doesn't pull a Heroes, it's going to be hard for any subsequent horror film or television series to match it, much less top it.
I can't wait for next Sunday. I haven't been this excited about a television show since Deep Space 9. -
The relationship between the partner and wife didn't come as a surprise, but it works as a vehicle to bring in some more human drama later in the series. Can't argue with that.
Highway is congested with abandoned vehicles on the side leading away from Atlanta, but empty on the side leading into the city? I know what that means. -
That was a beautiful bit of camera work with the eye.
The juxtaposition of Rick expressing sorrow to zombie torso woman was an excellent touch.
The lawn at the PD was too manicured, should have been much more overgrown. And they finally gave a rough time estimate, turns out that Rick had been in the hospital for more than one month.
Back on, and it looks like his wife, son and partner are all still alive! -
Break!
The baseball bat scene really hit home (no pun intended) with me. Over a year and a half after my lung collapse and surgery, I'm still frequently on my hands and knees, struggling to shut out the pain after pushing myself too hard.
Back on! -
First commercial break after thirty minutes.
Fan-damn-tastic. A couple of very minor logical flaws, specifically the stop stick (an officer would have remained on site to retract or remove it) and the protagonist's awakening (he moved around too easily after spending days comatose and with a dried up IV), but everything else has been incredible.
The make-up and special effects teams should get awards for their work.
Break over! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO! -
Ten minutes!
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! SO EXCITED! O_O -
Ninety minutes!
THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE BEGINS IN NINETY MINUTES!

Back Alley Brawler posted, two or three years ago, that redraw time could be "up to 0.67s". There was no more information given than that. It could be that different weapon sets, or powers within sets, have varying redraw times, or it could be that the some animations are just shorter due to the type or style of attack.
At any rate, how much it actually matters depends on how you play and how much it bothers you. If you're frequently switching between weapon and weaponless powers, or two different types of weapons, then it will matter to some extent, in that it will slow you down, and it may annoy you quite a bit. If you're focusing on your weapon powers for one part of combat and using your other powers for the rest of combat, such as debuffing a spawn with Trick Arrows powers, then switching to Assault Rifle attacks for the rest (or most) of the fight, then the actual impact of redraw time is so low that it's almost immeasurable over the duration of combat, and shouldn't bother you at all.
We used to have long, annoying pauses between weapon power animations, even when the weapon remained drawn during usage of multiple powers, because the additional time necessary for redraw was "baked in" to the total animation time for each power. It was so frustrating that I gave up on three Broadsword scrappers because the coffee breaks between attacks were so long. What we have now may be slightly more complex, but it's ten million times better and less noticeable than what we put up with before.
