FD, I think you could have done what you say you are trying to do in a seperate thread without resorting to pointing fingers at anyone. Maybe then Juggertha would have seen your thread and agreed with the points you were making without feeling like being personally attacked. The manner in which you did it in this thread gives everyone (whether artist or not) every right to question your motives, and quite frankly I am not sure if it is all noble as you make it out to be. I believe what Red (and I am sure plenty of others) had problem with was your attitude, and the validity of the things you said is another issue. It seems to me the point of all the uncalled for criticisms of Juggertha and his work in this thread was to tear apart rather than to build him up.

So.....do you all play the game much? I think I've only seen like 3 people from the art forum in the game. Actually, make that 4. I had a very brief encounter with JohnnyKat tonight in Sirens. He droned himself and laughed at me! Darnit, immunity could have been mine...
-
Congrats JohnnyKat, and once again thanks for the cool chart, Frost!

Hehe, I was thinking Lego the moment I saw this thread. Anyone remembers the Lego fan video for the first anniversary I think it was? Too bad it's not allowed, not that I have a thousand pieces lying around.
So the challenge is about using the lowest quality material to achieve high levels of refinement? Like using crayons to do something similar to the simple yet amazing pastel paintings in earlier Pixar "Art of" books? -
Quote:That is one HOT CHICK!!!!! She is so hot she needs to use a magical portal to cool herself down!
Will try to improve this, it needs it, but I'm tired of struggling with it for today. Maybe tonight I'll go back to the original B&W and see what I can do there or maybe tommorow morning after work, before the hockey game I'll see what I can do... But if not, least it's something I can get officially eliminated with
U-Naught, I think you are giving my piece more credit than it deserves, but thanks for the kind words. It turned out to be sort of a composition and lighting exercise. I'm starting to find that I like colors in the shadows.
I'm through the third week of the 8-week Robert Chang class I mentioned a while ago, and Robert is easily one of the most dedicated and passionate teachers I've ever seen. I will probably have more to say about this workshop after it is over, but I'm having a blast so far. I want to devote all my art time to the class, so if I turn in something at the last minute next month that doesn't deserve any votes, that's why. -

Lol, I agree my ugly entry is way too big. It makes me want to go hide. Maybe I would have secretly enjoyed the attention some other time, but not with this. I didn't bother posting it on DA because the only place it would have gone is under scraps. Here, you can use this resized image if you'd like:

Wow, some great entries! Your second entry is amazing, Shia.
Here's my meaningless entry that's a waste of a great theme. I will be in survival mode for at least another month.
I had a more elaborate idea, but it wasn't going to happen in a few hours. I wanted Alice to do bullet rain on a group of carnies in St. Martial. The bullets would have been engraved with the words "EAT ME", and upon getting hit, the carnies would turn into a deck of cards. -
Just saw this thread. Congrats on 10k views, CR! I'll go with 82.

I think ultimately what matters, especially in zones like the OP is asking, is finding what you have fun with, since there's no point in pvping if you don't have fun. For a lot of people, what is fun is what performs the best (FotM's), while for others playing sets few others play and still doing well gives more satisfaction, even if those builds can't get as many kills.
I tend to fall in the second category, and my favorite alt in Sirens atm is my dark/traps corruptor, Penguin From Future. When I made her years ago it was solely for PVE reasons (TT + webnade = immobed group with a boss for my traps). Deploying traps in pvp is much much harder than in pve, but not totally impossible, if you learn to take advantage of when they are caught in an animation while attacking your teammates. You used to be able to use hover to move while placing traps, but they fixed that a long time ago. But you can still do a little hop right after you activate so you start activating your trap while you are away from your target and try to land next to them as it goes off.
I wouldn't suggest a traps corruptor/defender as your first pvp(or even pve) alt, though. It is definitely not for everyone. But if you absolutely love traps in pve, maybe you will like it in pvp too.
Are you talking about Sirens on Freedom? I pvp almost exclusively in Sirens, and I haven't seen fight club going on since my SG migrated some of our penguins to Freedom with free transfers. With the same people that are in Sirens all the time, I actually think you will run into builds dedicated for Sirens, with more slots in the powers they have in Sirens compared to RV/Arena builds, although the same 6 slotted powers will be reduced in effectiveness a little bit. My dark/traps' current build did not spend a single slot on powers she took after 35, and she has lvl32-33 sets as well as lvl50 pvp and purple sets. If you do a search or /whoall in Sirens, you will usually see a lot more lvl50s than non-50s as well. -

Does anyone use their tablet as a mouse pad? -
If anyone has an intuos 3 mouse they never use in perfect working condition and is willing to sell it at a reasonable price I would love to buy it.
The left click on my mouse has been driving me nuts for months, more often than not registering as a double click or even triple when you click once. For a very simple task like click & drag to highlight text, I have to try 5-10 times. According to the all the negative reviews on Amazon with similar experiences, these aren't very durable and way overpriced. I use my mouse all the time and don't want to buy a new one that I know will fall apart in a couple of years if I am lucky and probably much sooner. -
The interview won't start for another couple of hours, but I did see the live painting. He did a one-hour watercolor "2000 year old creature" painting while answering questions. You only need to listen to him for a minute to know that he truly loves to inspire other artists.
-
I don't know if you all watch Bobby Chiu on DA, but he is going to interview a character designer for Alice in Wonderland at 8 pst/11 est tonight.
He is also going to do a live painting in about 15 minutes.
He is a great artist to listen to when you are lacking motivation.

It wouldn't be fair for Clutch not to get a 1st place vote because I couldn't decide 2nd and 3rd, so I used random drawing for the other two as well, but without using a coffee cup.

I just deleted a message that took me all day (from 10 am this morning till now at 5:36 pm without a break) to write up. I am just amazed that I was able to do that with only a bowl of cereal to keep me going, after I stayed up till like 5 am for my previous post when I missed dinner yesterday by typing and I am not sure if I even had a lunch yesterday. I wasted two full days and I just don't care anymore. I will just keep what I have learned to myself and only leave this image from what was inevitibly going to be another meaningless lengthy post.
I think I will stay away for a while. Have a nice week everyone. -
I usually work pretty small, around 1500 x 2000 for random sketches, and a lot of the times I don't even use up all that space. I feel comfortable around at 2000 x 3000 for decent sized stuff since I usually don't have crazy amount of detail. That is still considered pretty small, and you will want to go much larger if you want to print stuff.
With bigger sizes I kinda get intimidated when I zoom in at fullsize and see all the areas I have to cover, but I am trying to get used to working with big images. My January fanart was at 10,000 pixels high, because that was the max value Painter allowed. Otherwise it would have been around 15,000 or so. I started out much smaller, though. -
Is it me or is picking 3 pieces even harder than just one? Great effort everyone! I think this was one of the most competitive months I've seen. I am a very indecisive person, and I just can't decide 2nd and 3rd place yet.
I just wanted to bring up that Caemgen's entry isn't on Wassy's web site, and unless you click on his entry on this page, people might miss it out completely. For the other ones, I didn't open and close the window for each one. I just clicked on one and saw the other ones on Wassy's site. -
Aww, just went but it was offline.

Here's my entry.

Guess I should thank FrozenDeath for using the donut shop. I was going to use the parking lot of the donut shop with a blue Camaro in the background, but I decided to do something else after I saw his entry. I like the Croatoa idea more now. -
Eww, CR is not the person I want to receive whipping from. Guess I'd better get to work...
-
Nice job on the shape challenge! It looks really fun.
-
Sweet! Oh wait, I was going to use the donot shop too....

I see Drew's fine.
My sig is from the old forums. I am too lazy to fix it before I have an awesome banner to replace it with. -
Actually I've been wondering if there were any good guides for making a banner with clickable stuff...

I was going to suggest that you study Loomis books, but Clutch beat me to it. Drawing Head and Hands and Fun With A Pencil have exactly what you are asking.
