((At 3,316,260 funds at this point! Stopped tracking each item bought as the trend is obvious by now.))

Oh, and here is my favorite market buying moment during the experiments. I found it ironically humorous on many levels: link to larger image

  6. Market: A marginal experiment

Sure, I get tired for people begging to be leveled. But what gets me many times more annoyed is requests for inf. Ugh. There's no need! There is inf just waiting to be picked up. The game is even set up to get it at ONE SPOT. No farms, no rigs, no cheating whatsoever.

Why? Mostly because of fellow badger players like me who are working on the Wentworth's "Power Seller" badge of selling 7000 items and/or the Inventor's "Fabricator" badge of crafting 2000 items. We're willing to do the work to gather materials then dump them at Wentworths, all for a shiny badge.

Side note: I prefer the quietest Wentworths in Kings Rows. Items won were resold to the Superpowered Field Trainer store by the trainer Blue Steel next door.

==> Experiment 1: Penny gets you a pound

It is always a buyer's market if all you want is inf. But claims have to be backed up by hard proof. So here you go!

Only bid 1 inf (quantity 10 at a time) on recipes for sale with no bids until the bid sat for five seconds without result, then the bid was cancelled; aka I only purchased what was waiting to be grabbed that instant.

    Starting funds: 100 inf
    Ending funds: 18,952,642 inf

    Details: Link

Conclusions: Always, always, ALWAYS start by bidding 1 inf on recipes for sale with no bids. There is usually at least one just waiting to be picked up. If the seller didn't want to risk it to be purchased for that much, they would have listed it higher.

Oh, and there is no rhyme nor reason to where to find 1 inf items waiting to be claimed. Some listings had 70 waiting with no bites at 1 inf, while more often a single item could be claimed. Hunt everywhere!

==> Experiment 2: Go the extra mile

There are other items that can be bought at 1 inf and then resold at a store. Those are Normal Enhancements and Salvage. So, again the market jungle was forged for these extra fruits waiting to be claimed.

As always, only 1 inf (quantity 10 at a time) on items for sale with no bids until the bid sat for five seconds without result, then the bid was cancelled; aka I only purchased what was waiting to be grabbed that instant.

    Starting funds: 100 inf
    Ending funds: 405,797 inf

    Details: Link

Conclusions: Options are fewer with slimmer finds, but there is still plenty of inf to be had.

==> Experiment 3: Share and share alike

Returned back to the Market, this time on Crafted Enhancements, Special Enhancements, and Inspirations. Since these can NOT be sold in stores, it was purely to help badgers clear their slots.

At this point the only thing not bid on are the Fixed Price items Black Market Transporter and Consignment House Transporter. As there is no player interaction for these items, there is no 1 inf opportunity.

Once again only 1 inf on items for sale with no bids until the bid sat for five seconds without result, then the bid was cancelled; aka I only purchased what was waiting to be grabbed that instant.

    Starting funds: 1,000 inf
    Ending funds: 790 inf

    Details: Link

Conclusions: Special Enhancements have too high a demand to find 1 inf dependably. If one is ever snagged for 1 inf, that is bragging rights!

    ==> Final Conclusions

I learned a lot from these experiments. Most notable is that there are plenty of items to be had at 1 inf, and then some. You want it, go get it. It's right there waiting to be claimed.

There is a chance, however slim, that I somehow missed an item or two available at 1 inf. Or perhaps it has been listed since I last combed the market. No worries! Give a shout-out here and I will go pick it up from auction as soon as I see it. Unless someone else can beat me to it... ;->

And of all that is not enough proof: Fury Flechette's Market Journal: 0 to a Billion in 7 days
  7. The pile Paxtera muttered over was just that: a pile of rubble. The thousands of scales were the tragic remains of a discarded shell, no longer a defining part of Bisys. Indeed, there was nothing left that made Bisys, Bisys. Her spirit had been caught up by Voices, destroyed in their whirlwind or carried off to some unknown location.

The humanoid skull nestled within, however, held more promise. It appeared to an untrained eye to be an ancient bone or unearthed relic. Depending on Paxtera's abilities she might be able to discern that inside the calcium phosphate of the osseous tissue was the positronic matrix that Toy Dispenser had built. The matrix, even if it had had power, was inert making it effectively as dead as Bisys. Still, Paxtera would gain further clues should she examine the lifelines of its departed owner again. Even here she might sense that something beyond the embedded technology connected the skull to something else externally - the stone acorn in Jade's possession.

A stone that was one warm point on Jade in a soul gone cold. Its warmth was more than Jade's generated body heat could account for. When Jade's sorrow had run its course enough to recognize this phenomenon, the unbonded Token too had a message to tell.
  8. The Reaver and Ildela could testify from their ongoing battle how decisions, execution, and resolve can happen in a nanosecond, had they been at the place and of a mind to do so. To say that Tafari's attack and the resulting consequence was instantaneous was close enough to the truth to nevermind technicalities that said otherwise. Jade's wing could not hide the large metaloid figure that was Bisys within its fold, and she received the brunt of the stun/drain combo.

Being a creature of magic, her energy was her life. When Tafari drained her energy, he took her life with it. Being designed to assimilate all forms of energy, there would be no trouble translating her energy into his, especially as half of it was his own already.

It is said when you die your life flashes before your eyes, and in that light truth is revealed, a truth that will set you free. In a world of pride and greed and lies, such freedom can only be gained through death's door. Sometimes one can make this ultimate sacrifice for another. All too often it is a price paid by the same individual. As was the case for Prosopopoeiasys.

In the beginning was the little girl; bright, cheery, an embodiment of sugar and spice and everything nice. Maira! Her name had been Maira. The newborn of EarthMother had been invisible to all else, looking to young Maira as a caretaker and companion. Maira had been very well off, living with hired servants who were treated well and loved like extended family. It had been Maira's idea in her innocence to start the Master game, so Trisys would know she was loved.

They had been the best of friends, inseparable. Until one youth camping trip when Maira received the news of her mother's death. Maira had fled from looming adults into the woods, where she demanded Trisys bring back her mother's ghost. Trisys had not been able to do so because Maira's mother had been at peace with her life and already passed on into her afterlife. Maira had thrown the Token acorn away in rage. Her cries, "I want my mommy! Go away! Go away! Leave me alone!" of a child's broken heart had scourged the equally innocent Trisys like a whip.

A boy who had befriended Maira at camp had followed when she fled. He had picked up the acorn where it fell, instantly learning of Trisys. Sadly his heart, while still that of a child, was not as pure. He spirited away his new treasure and used Trisys's power as revenge on those who had bullied him. His father too quickly learned of his son's sudden power, for the boy was far from discrete, and cowed his son into turning over possession of Trisys.

It was his evil mastermind that had seen the possibilities of a type of captive djinn. He arranged torture and training back in the Rouge Isles to mold Trisys in the belief that she was nothing more than slave, a conduit, helpless without a Master to use her and her Token. Karma backlash eventually sealed his fate, but not before the conditioning was complete. That was the start of the string of Masters who abused the EarthChild.

Being pulled to Patches had introduced chaos to this confusion. Her conditioning had made her use the borrowed Token and Jade to assuage dependency fears. Then loyalty and love of Jade, the first to show true kindness since Maira, had caused her to swap the fate of their bodies so that he might live through the granting of a Wish. The resulting diplomatic disagreement in her between magic and technology had been settled by Toy Dispenser's intervention, but not before another factor had turned the chaos into war.

That factor was Tafari. When Jade's completed transformation claimed back the energy Tafari had absorbed, a fragment of it had gone through their Bond into Bisys. It was tainted by its brief time in Tafari. For Jade this would mean nothing, as it would be the equivalent of digesting rock candy instead of fresh fruit. In other words, the energy in Jade had long ago been processed and changed into his own energy signature, all signature traces of Tafari or Malleus-type energy purged.

In contrast Tafari's taint of confidence, overbearance, and lust for dominance was completely incompatible with the energy that formed the satyr. Slowly its stain, an orange so dark as to appear red, spread through Bisys and her lifeline, as Paxtera has seen.

At first this influence appeared to be a good thing. Bisys displayed confidence. She took charge rather than passively waiting for orders when the delay would cause undesired effects. She even had begun to proactively pull information about Jade through the Token in anticipation of his Wishes and for his safety. Bisys had mistakenly believed these changes to be caused by strain of a new Bond on the borrowed Token.

All good side effects, right? Perhaps in Tafari or a mortal human, where such characteristics are part of their design. In Bisys they poisoned, desirably eroding away at her training while undesirably corrupting her nature. Much more and she may have tried to completely reverse the Bond to have Jade subservient with her as Master. Thus when Tafari targeted Bisys half of it would feel like the Malleus-type energy he had originally entered the forest to pursue, and the other half would feel like his own.

The mechanics of how Tafari easily claimed her energy as his own were overshadowed for Bisys by a more fundamental truth. The truth that she had been a prisoner of her own beliefs from nearly the first.

Jade had had the right of it: Prosopopoeiasys was a creature with a will of her own. Such a realization filled Bisys with a sense of awe and wonder even more overwhelming than Tafari's shockwave of golden light.

There wasn't time for guilt, regrets, goodbyes, or even sorrow. With a soft "Oh!" of wonder tinged with surprise, the metaloid figure literally crumbled. A shush like sand in an hourglass marked the collapse of the metal shell into scales. If anyone bothered to examine them, they'd discover each a uniform shape and size of a thumbnail. The gray scales tinged with red like rust numbered exactly 3,210.

Should Jade look, he'd discover the stone acorn in his possession to now have a sheen as though covered with tears, though it remained dry to the touch.

The restless spirits called Voices had lost their touchstone, their prosopopoeia, to the living. Collectively they moaned and swirled in discontent. Their motions caused a breeze to stir the meager remains, revealing a sun-bleached humanoid skull nestled among the scales. With a final wail, the spirits fled in contorting directions across the face of Patches, leaving a momentary lull of silence in their wake...

((No, Paradigm_Shift did not know what would happen. But it was inevitable since Tafari set his sights on the potential contained within the energy of Bisys. Extreme PvPers will crush squishy PvEers every time.

Details, details: As well as being a convenient countdown, the number of scales at 3,210 reflected the three days since Prosys was last logged in plus the 210 hours on patrol as reported by a helpful citizen.

Prosopopoeiasys is not irrevocably dead, yet. Paxtera, Jade, and the Marbles hold the keys to her revival. There is no time limit, so I hope no one derails their current actions in response. Don't worry; you haven't gotten rid of me that easily!
  9. Relief radiated from Bisys when Jade appeared. Others he had tagged were rapidly following the tugs, and the satyr noted each as they arrived.

The dead zombie, er 'living impaired', startled her enough to take a half step back. Hovering as she always was, this probably passed unnoticed. Still, Jade appeared comfortable, even companionable, in his presence so Bisys would take her cue from him. As Lady Aineruda said, she had only brought what Jade had tagged, and Jade wouldn't want to bring anyone that would be a threat.

    Then... Tafari appeared.

Bisys had been blessed by circumstances to miss an encounter with him the last time he had been in the forest. Still, it took less instinct than she possessed to know his appearance was trouble. His first words were a big hint. He was trouble. BIG TROUBLE. Caps, italics, period. Had she somehow made a mistake and pulled an enemy meant to be left behind?

    Then... Graxitica appeared.

Bisys went from horrified to terrified. Had she done something so wrong, so appalling, in her summons as to bring not one, but two nexus of trouble to the Heart Tree? She could not begin to guess how her efforts had gone so askew and failed Jade so utterly. The truth that Bisys has done nothing wrong failed to cross her mind.

It was only a partial relief when this second threat retreated as quickly as he came, for Tafari still seemed a thought away from a rampage. The peripheral of the psionic backlash hit Bisys like a slap, jolting her into action.

In a move that was the height of bravery, or the depths of foolishness, Bisys lunged forward.

She reached for Tafari. As soon as her hands neared his shoulders, Tafari's shields started draining the free-floating red static energy that surrounded Bisys. Giving a cry of pain, the red metaloid crashed out of the air to her hands and knees at his feet as if she had been dealt a double overhand blow. In a much quieter tone than she had intended, she cried, "Please, stop! You are here because Jade wanted everyone to be safe. I beg you, please don't hurt anyone. I'll take you anywhere else you want to go."

Bisys forced her head and an arm up towards Tafari as she repeated, "Just please! Please stop!"
  10. Thank you for the screenshot, Ironblade. That is very appreciated!

I wonder if that is the difference, Master-Blade, if the Lady Grey Taskforce souvenir only gets awarded on a MoLGTF and not a regular LGTF? I had only successfully completed a normal LGTF for the first time on this character when the Apocalyptic badge was awarded 7/13/2010, so it can't be that the TF was run too long ago to get the souvenir awarded.

When I hear more from the GMs, I'll update again.

Anyone else with experience earning and/or not earning this souvenir? Your stories would be very welcomed.
  11. Has anyone received a souvenir for the Lady Grey TF? If so, could you please post a screen shot?

I successfully received the Apocalyptic badge, but did not receive a souvenir even though http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/The_Lady...Force#Souvenir showed one is associated with the Task Force. Yes, a /petition was logged, but the GM replies seemed confused about there even being a souvenir available.

On a related note, are there souvenirs for any redside SF/trials?
  12. Still only 1 inf each at Wentworths...

  13. For the moment Bisys would allow Akat to inquire after Durlan. She had her mind on other things.

"Yes, I can bring all you ask as long as they wish to come, too. Tag them with your mind. Ermm, try staring hard at the ones you want included. Now."

With a broad sweep of one arm, much closer to normal with the repeated practice, Bisys tried to pull Jade to her and all whom he willed.

It wasn't time relocation like Paxtera used, nor quite a traditional teleport, but still anyone who had been exposed to some form of spatial relocation would recognize the tug. By default all included would find themselves crowded at the base and to one side of the range runner's ramp. Close without being in the middle of everyone else nearby.

A group relocation like this wasn't something she could do often, but hopefully once would be all that was needed. The only risk was if someone chose not to accept the pull. Should anyone not come the first time, Bisys would attempt to pull them individually until they came, were destroyed, or eventually moved out of her range as Toy Dispenser had. What had become of him? No time to speculate now...
  14. Bisys made be housed in a mechanical shell with a computer assistant, but her essence it contained was still overwhelmed. Aineruda's observation about the Gre'shil's mental power added to the pile of questions Bisys needed to answer... about herself. Like the rest, it was shoved aside. But any kid can tell you there is one so much you can shove in a closet before it becomes impossible to close. Bisys was nearing her limit of how many pent up emotions and questions could be postponed.

Somehow she managed to shut that proverbial door one more time as she escorted Lady Aineruda down the ramp to address the captain of the guard aloud and Jade on their private channel: "This range runner used as a refuge to protect Lady Aineruda was unexpectedly recalled by Akat to where she was meeting with the Gre'shil. Akat had successfully arranged their withdrawal, the details of which she can tell you better than I, and immediately returned us when she discovered we were aboard." The metaloid did a fair approximation of a nod of thanks towards the Khelari. "We, I, apologize for Lady Aineruda's temporary displacement, it was completely unintentional. Doubly so without the agreed upon guards. As you can see, her health continues to improve and she took no harm from the journey.

"If Akat continues to need the range runner elsewhere, I would be glad to arrange other security with you so this mistake does not happen again. Lady Aineruda's health and safety is more important to me than anything, second only to Jade's well being.

"I see that Kethara was successful in recovering the assassin. Are the threats to Lady Aineruda gone? Durlan is still kept secure in your charge, as we left him, pending Lady Aineruda ability to judge between us and him, right?"

Bisys had intended to continue the assurances and arrangement both to the Captain and to Jade when the latter's panic came through. Her focus remained split so she could hear Akat's, Lady Aineruda's, and the captain's responses, while a larger portion of her attention was instantly directed inward.

"Jade! You are in danger! Please, may I bring you back?"

  16. Poked around in the Arena again today.

The gladiator controls are again working correctly, yay!

The matches will still be unusable to earn the Grand Lanista badge. Sigh.

Everything can be set up correctly, but when the Gladiator Match bullet is activated an error message "This event cannot be rated because the level range for this event is invalid" prevents the match from starting. This message generates because selecting the Gladiator Match bullet defaults the level to Any Level and the level dropdown options disappear.

    Back to the waiting game...
  17. "Yes, this is Bisys. I didn't shrink down to be inside your brain." Bisys obediently replied, her tone reflecting her attempt to focus on Jade though heavy distraction, perhaps even distraught. "Uhm... I'm sorry Jade, but I don't think that would be within my abilities. I will try, if you want me to, of course."

Aloud the satyr was trying to juggle another conversation with Akat. "Lady Aineruda had a nearly fatal wound from a gun shot. I don't know if that is what you meant by a compressor. Jade decided the range runner was the safest place for her while there was an assassin threat. It helped provide the energy and water for Aineruda's recovery. I am sorry if we were using the range runner wrongly.

"Please, can you send or take us back? Lady Aineruda must be near her captain or the captain's guard. Her people get upset when their leader is harmed or missing."

If the range runner could not be spared, Bisys would try to arrange for Lady Aineruda's protection - either by Akat or the range runner or her own phantoms - while she returned then recall Aineruda near their previous position, just out of sight of the guards.

  20. Elf Forest

"We have been brought to Akat and ..." The end of the third update from Bisys to Jade on their private channel petered off. If the satyr's face had been capable of movement her jaw would have to have been dug out of the ground, so far it figuratively fell.

"Huh? When'd you go in there...?" she heard Akat ask, then Lady Aineruda reply, "I don't know you have to ask Bisys. I... almost died."

Bisys unfroze and helped Aineruda with a steadying drink. Bisys sent questioning thoughts about the relocation to the range runner even as she addressed the Khelari, "But, you, er, the range runner said, 'Beacon received' then 'Course laid in' and then a few minutes later we were here. All I did was thank the range runner for energy and water to help heal Lady Aineruda. Didn't you call it, Akat?"

She had a slight twitch from being near the site of the Gre'shil's death challenge, though it was likely lost in her already erratic motions. Then she displayed a not-so-subtle movement as her head, then whole body, started swinging around, obviously searching for something missed among the turmoil both inside and out. That something was the pair of elfin guards. Guards needed to be kept with Lady Aineruda to hold the tentative truce. Guards left behind when the range runner, well, ran off.

"Uh, Oh..." "Uh, Oh..." Bisys concluded both aloud and to Jade.

  25. As fervently as the guards cheered Aineruda's recovery, Bisys thanked the energy donors.

Should the range runner react to Bisys's afterthought of need and have appropriate resources, Bisys would give Aineruda water from its supply. Though more likely was that the range runner, designed to cater to its creators, was more likely equipped with lava than water, so Bisys would pursue an external source.

That being the case, Bisys would leave a temporary specter over the Lady Aineruda. This invisible guardian would only react to frighten off any who had animosity towards its ward. Thus protected, Bisys could leave the range runner. Within a brief minute she would travel to the abandoned hot springs, claim some water in portable container, and return to Aineruda's side. This water might be less than appealing, but to Bisys water was water.

Either way, Bisys would try to help Lady Aineruda into a sitting position and offer water. It took more concentration to keep her hands steady than even the healing had required, but that was effort Bisys was all too glad to make.

"Drink," Bisys urged the recovering elf. "Questions can be asked once you slack your thirst."
