  2. Okay had a bit of a play around and changed a few things:
    • Removed Vengence and Surge of Power in favour of Power Sink and Ball Lightning. I removed Vengence because well, I don't count on people dying. If I'm controlling the packs right, people shouldn't be dying if the team's good. Surge of Power I removed because I've already got Charged Armor and I considered S/L to be more important despite the fact that Surge of Power resists everything including Psi.
    • Took Thunder Strike out and replaced it with Lightning Bolt, taking it at Level 18 and pushing Stealth back to when I previously would of took Thunder Strike. I didn't want to remove Stealth because I want it to go with Super Speed to ghost missions. This means that I've had to also re-arrange some slots and Havoc Punch and Charged Brawl don't get they're final slots until much later.
    • Changed some of the extra Damage and Hold IO's to Recharge IO's. I figured this would be a better choice then End Redux as I've got good End Drain abilities that would be able to offset the cost of the abilities along with a 3-slotted Stamina.

    Thankyou for that! I was finding that during making this build I wasn't slot starved, I was.. well, bombarded with them! It won't be to hard to put some recharges in there to help with things aswell. And will change those Health enchancements to Accuracy aswell (:

    You too Mu but didnt take Power Sink or Ball Lightning. Power Sink would help drain foes and Ball Lightning can also be used point blank as an AoE attack.
    Hmm, I could remove Vengence and pick up Power Sink.

    And I took Stealth not for LoTG mule - to be honest, I didn't even know people did that, I'm still very new at the game and don't really know what people do for what.. I took it for ghosting, as people say that Stealth + SS go really well together for that.

    Also I won't be sticking with this build when I do start setting, it'll be a completely new build.
  5. Hey all. I'm been trying to come up with a good leveling build for the Dominator I've been leveling and this is what I came up with. It's my first ever try in Mids and yeah, I was wondering what you guys thought of it and anywhere I can maybe go abit different to make my life easier.

    Don't be afraid to be harsh with me and tell me I'm being.. whatever. Because I don't want to screw this character up, she's only Level 13 at the moment but I'm having -sooo- much fun, it's unreal.

    She's a Melee-focused Dominator and I decided -not- to take the Snipe, because I don't see much use for it within my Build, my approach will be to put a pack to sleep, run in, drain them, then possibly root them in place with Chain Fences and launching my AoE confuse once I'm confident I've got damage dealt on all so I still get EXP. But even that's based off what I can see and not from experience so tell me if even that's wrong aswell!

    Please do take into consideration slotting levels, as that will have an effect on my experience, and for reference, I'll be running DO's until 22, then SO's until 35, then will be using Common IO's from then on. Please don't give me guidance on any Sets I could be using because I'm not interested in them right now.

I've got a Traps/DP Defender planned, got a pretty good concept for it, and am looking forward to it - my main is a DP/Dev Blaster so I know what I'm doing with DP and a few powers in Traps, but.. well, I have no idea about any of the others. I can't seem to find a good Traps guide anywhere, I've been looking for about an hour or two. I wouldn't know how to pick from it as a Primary, how to slot or what, it just escapes me entirely.

    I intend to play either solo or with a friend, who's going to be playing a Scrapper. I've never played a Defender before but I've got a good idea of how it plays.. I'm a debuffer support, not a damage dealer.

    I'm very aware that if I play it wrong, I could become a gimped Blaster and well, I have a Blaster, why would I want a character who is essentially.. just a less-powered version of my Blaster?

    Basically I need help - I don't know what powers are good, what aren't - like Web Grenade, do I take this or skip it? It's an Immob and whilst it can come in useful -occassionally- for my Blaster, it's rare, and in those cases - usually Hover works better anyway. Caltrops, I know, godsend, that'll be my Level 1 power no matter what.

    But powers like Triage Beacon, will I get much use out of that solo? Or with my friend? He's a Scrapper so he's defenses aren't going to be -to bad-. And Time Bomb! I've heard people on the Help channels mention that Time Bomb is a terrible power, and ugh, I'm lost - but I know I want to play this powerset, the "idea" of traps appeals to me and the character background I've got for it is solid (which is important for me)..

    So, any advice?

    I've just started up a War Mace / Shield Defense Brute, and was trollin' the forums looking for a guide on Shield Defense and I found this!

    It's very informative and gave me quite alot of insight into the different abilities and the advanced strategy section is helpful to.

    I was sad to see that War Mace's wasn't included in your guide, but like you said in the comments, to add them all would be far beyond what's expected of you.

    I will almost certainly be coming back to refer to this guide in the future. (:
  8. I've recently returned to City of Heroes and well - yeah, I haven't got altism yet, but I'm getting there! Luckily for me it seems, my alts don't make it past Level 10 before I've deleted it - I know, I know, I should keep it going until DO's atleast! But I just can't!

    My "main" at the moment is a Blaster, Dual Pistols / Devices, and I'm having ALOT of fun, she's level 26, and I could easily sit there and get her to Level 50, but I'm making to many alts, and am currently getting majorly into a War Mace / Shield Defense Brute. Part of what has kept me playing both those characters (and I know level 26 isn't a long time) is a solid background story.

    My Blaster is called Little Yellow Hood, and is the daughter of a Mob boss, who at the time was in a small time gang called the Dawsons who were rumoured to be on the Loyalist payroll. One of the gangs street thugs came across an amulet that allowed him to control the weather and decided to use it to seize control of the gang - he killed her father and took over the gang, the street thug - Lil' Jimmy Maxwell, assumed the name the Storm Capo (and is now my Thugs / Storm Mastermind) and changed the name of the gang to the Hurricanes. Alice (my character's "real name") was just a kid at the time, but swore vengence. As she grew up, she come to realise she couldn't just take on the Storm Capo and expect to win, he was now a superpowered villain in control of a gang who also had low level storm-powers (his amulet allowed him to bestow others with the same powers, but at a much lower level) - so she needed help.

    She got that help in the form of Powers Division, where she worked for Provast Merchand as an undercover spy for the Loyalist, in the Resistance. She became Little Yellow Hood, a name she got for her small size and her signature yellow hood. Being a part of Powers Division got her access to several powerful gadgets and devices, including her guns, and even her patented jet boots. She eventually moved to Primal Earth in order to "fix the problem" there, where she established the Vigilante Organization known as The Hoods, who believe that in order to fix Paragon City, morals need to be thrown out the window, and as such, they sometimes come under fire from Longbow and Wyvern, people who believe that they're brutal and harsh methods go to far. She one day hopes to use her new found power as the Little Yellow Hood to settle the score with the Storm Capo.

    It's that story that allows me to really get into my Blaster, I try to do that for all my characters but it's not always easy to create a story thats as compelling (atleast to me) as hers. Luckily my Brute has a story that's also really well thought-out, but I won't bore you with the details

    My goals are mostly solo play and just having fun, its an "alt" as you were, my Blaster is my main character - my budget for this character is just basic selling everything I get from Salvage on Wentworth's.

    I'm making a new Scrapper, going with DB/Elec as its' part of a character concept I've got, but I'm finding difficulty finding any information on the Elec power-set for the Scrapper secondary.

    Can anyone advice me on how to go with it?

    The only thing it requires (concept-wise, again) is Lightning Field, and Flying, I intend to be using Hover in combat (I know I probably shouldn't, but again, concept)..
