Obvious troll is obvious. You seem to forget us baddies never lost a match on the official ladder, and seeing as your affraid to name drop I will go out on a limb and say that you probably either were nothing more than a practice dummy for w/e sg you were in or more likely, your just a nobody. Either way I am sure there must be something you could be doing more productively with your time if you really put your mind to it, get to it young man.

One thing I was told was that Radiation Emission can be pretty OP at low levels with team-oriented play.

Minus issue 4 for as long as I remember people were farming stuff for pvp. It started with Hami's and accolades and moved up to IO's, then incarnates. However maybe people only pvped in SO's on Guardian. I was on Liberty before Freedom got declared the unofficial pvp server and majority of the folks we dueled/kickballed had hami's and accolades.

Realistically; there are a number of people willing who aren't in the channel, though an even larger number in it, who would never actually participate. Every league in recent memory has a flood of sign-ups, then no-shows and drop-outs.

If your intent really is to argue that PvP isn't in a completely dead state, regarding anything remotely competitive, you're wrong, in denial, and probably stupid.

To have this view, I think it's safe to say you were never involved with PvP in this game at a competitive level at any point; though irrelevant, probably true.

Please, respond, naively. I'm bored. Smiley face.
NCSoft thanks you for your $15 dollars a month to just troll and for not tying up their servers. Just curious but what were your toons names that you competitivly played on back when pvp was in its prime?

Although the guy sounds like a tard, he has a point. Unless PvP gets revamped, at least to what it once was, it's doubtful the 8 v 8 ladders are going to happen again.

More power to you for trying though, it's still fun to PvP now and then, but IOs and incarnate stuff really made PvP lulzworthy. The fact that no Melees fight Ranged toons is hilarious in itself.

    Me: "1 v 1?"
    Guy: "What are you?"
    Me: "Elec/Therm"
    Guy: "You're not melee?"
Me: "Not unless brutes have thermal as a secondary"

    Kind of sad really.

I am an old pvper ...I started in issue 4 and was into 8v8 ladder matches on test when they were in their prime up to the end of issue 13. I recently returned and decided to just see what if anything has changed. I have checked out zones and as of tonight done some pug kickball matches on vent. While incarnates have added some twists and psi runs rampant I had almost as much fun tonight playing kickball as I did in the past. I had to lvl a toon to 50 and dumped about 1.5 bill into a build (thats not alot these days). I have spent less than 1 day getting tier 3 incarnates and have no accolades except demonic aura. I had no problem in kickball last night as between the two matches I played I had 7 kills and 0 deaths and do ok in zones. If someone wants to jump in it isn't as hard as your making it out to be.

People tend not to move but there is no rule against it (imo.) They tend to stand still because they need to keep pressure on their opponent in order to get a kill (just like ranged toons only these are melee attacks so require you to stay close to keep the damage going.) The main reason people don't use insps in fight club is so someone can actually win a fight. As you may or may not know, melees are generally hard to kill. It can often take 8-9 minutes before there is a single kill with many close calls up until that point. I've got influence to spare so spend it on melee toons for fight club and it's a part of the game so why not?

It's interesting to me when people take an "elitist" attitude and cast disparaging remarks at fight clubbers and use words such as "skill" and "traditional" to indicate ranged battles are "superior" forms of PVP. Whatever. Fight club is just another form of PVP in this game. Some people enjoy it, others don't, and then some people feel the need to try and insult the people who do enjoy it.

Just a heads up, I also have plenty of of ranged toons I use for zone/arena duels/team play for KB and Leagues and so far I enjoy all forms of PVP in this game (i13 changes aside.) If people want to fight only in petless MM battles then all the power to them if that is what they enjoy. I am not going to say that kind PVP is wrong if those people like it. I am here to play the game the way I like, not judge other people for doing what they find fun.
While I am sorry I came accross condesending I am sure you are aware that this games pvp is far from balanced. It would be easier in most situations to just email a pic of each others build to declare a winner and save yourself the painful task of watching health bars go nowhere or a one sided fight, by adding mobility it atleast gives some AT's/powersets a fighting chance.

I watched a fight club match in sirens call with a fire/em blaster touting how awsome he was and challenged any stalkers in the zone. The blaster would get ASed and simply powerboost and Aid Self then pop AIM + BUILDUP and faceroll the stalker. Was that skilled or simply just knowing they had the superior build for a lvl 30 that is based on AT powers availability?

Either way to each his own, I am not gonna tell you how to play your game because you pay what I do, but you can't deny that anyone looking over a persons build before the match could probably determine the outcome before hand assuming both players know what they are doing. Paper always beats rock as long as the rock didn't spend 4 bill buying a IOed lighter.
  9. I recently returned to CoH since issue 13 and to me the funny thing about fight club is it's less skill and more money/math based than a traditional 1v1. Just a step above playing odds or evens. Im not familiar with shields however given your Super Strength, you prob triple stack rage with plenty of tohit, capped hp, decent regen, incarnates plus aid self and I feel its safe to say going toe to toe against you is a waste of time. I assume you seldom lose but don't always win. Do you really find that fun and or even slightly challenging? I would give you more credit for your mids build/power choices than your actual ability to pvp in the traditional sense. This is just my opinion ofcourse.

    Freedom League?

I will join, but I need some time and practice. I need accolades, IO's, incarnates, and some serious pvp help as I haven't touched a arena match or zone since i13. Hell I don't even know what's viable anymore. All my good pvp accounts got stripped.

Nubtears taste like Tigers Blood baby....and its all WINNING...
Its so true, PvP is its own reward. I don't need something shiney dangled...although the forum titles were a nice touch. To this day I have the fondest memories of test pvp and being on vent with all of my friends and bickering in arena chat. I haven't been able to replicate it in any other pvp game I have played. It was one thing when the community was just ignored and we were left to our own devices.
It was quite another when they ripped up our sandlot and left this current steaming pile of crap post I13. Posi's post is just one big contradiction and another slap in the face to any pvp vet who still subs.
