  1. I read at Paragon Wiki that the Fireflies and Snow auras would be available with Issue 19. Are these unlockable? I can't access them on my level 11 toon, but I have them on another level 50 toon.

    Thanks as always.
  2. I was wondering if the list of 100 supergroups is filtered by the server on which I'm playing? In other words, I'm playing on Guardian and looking at the list of top 100 SGs and wondering if they're all from Guardian too.
  3. Level 19-20

I played with a team bent on suicide missions yesterday, but they got me to 20. I picked up Disruption Arrow and immediately fell in love with it. However, I logged out after I got it so I haven't played with it too much.

Back to the suicide squad: the leader was 41 running missions at 44. That meant everyone else in the group who was side kicked faced nothing but purples. We were fighting Council and got slaughtered by the werewolves - about seven times.

PUGs haven't changed in my absence. Some, most I would argue, are great. Some don't get it. You don't pull in three mobs when your teammates are seeing purple and you have no healer. I think there were 3 blasters, a brute, a controller, and me. Ugh! I quietly excused myself to the hospital.
  4. Now the NCsoft Launcher brings up an update (rubs hands together happily)!

    [edit]RATS! Still no access.[/edit]
  5. I'm with you. 8:00 am EST and can't get past log in either. Exact wording:

  7. LEVELS 12-18

This happened in a flurry - about 90 minutes. I joined up w/ a team running level 48+ missions in PI. I was dinging every few minutes.

    Here's what I picked up:
    • 14: Ice Arrow
    • 16: Hover
    • 18: Fly

I can hold an LT while I fire away at everything else, but I'm still fairly useless solo. More updates as they come.
  8. Sorry I've been away from this post, but I found playing the TA/A defender to be soooo tedious. However, I'm not giving up. I hit 12 [edited: I had originally posted level 13] and took Acid Arrow and immediately slotted it with a recharge. I'll keep you posted.
  9. Level 11-12

Thanks to Ace_of_Hearts' post about Blazing Arrow, I did a quick respec and dropped the multi-target arrow. I was able to handle the LTs much much easier this time around.

Would you want to be starring this down?

I haven't picked a power yet at 12 but will next time I log in. I guess I'm at the travel power stage in my development - going with Flight, so that means I'm taking Hover next. I'll be one of those hovering archers from now on.

Unless, of course, I get some good advice otherwise.

Thank you, Neggy Z. Well, according to Red Tomax's Guide to City of Heroes, NONE OF THE TA POWERS STACK FROM THE SAME PLAYER. Good to know; I've been wasting arrows (endurance) on this.

Is there a place that shows which debuffs are stackable? I keep firing Flash in hopes that it stacks and will further hinder the enemy's accuracy. I pray especially hard with an orange LT is coming at me in slow-mo thanks to the glue patch.
  12. Level 11
I used the 2 slots in Hasten, which now has 3 Recharges in it. While firing it really helps the two slow primary arrows: poison and glue. Man, is it nice to have those two powers more often. I can handle LTs much easier - yes, it takes forever to kill them, but I'm not getting my butt handed to me either.

I passed on Ice Arrow and I'm already reconsidering it. It would be nice to have an LT stuck in a block of ice while I whittle away at the minions.

(edit) I realized that I had been writing acid arrow when I meant to write POISON arrow - I corrected that in previous posts. (/edit)
  13. I was wondering if it was possible to add an emote to our story contacts so that they're doing something instead of just standing there. I'd really like to have my contact, Stinky Pete, panhandling.
  14. Level 8-11

I can see now how difficult soloing will be on this toon. My three secondary archery powers deal no damage. I can only face enemies my level and it takes a while to take down any LTs.

I did play on a team today with a bunch of trigger happy blasters and I felt useful. Zero strategy involved, but my debuffs seem to be useful to the team.

I took Hasten at level 10 because 2 of my 3 primaries, glue and poison arrow, take too long to recharge. Those two items are very helpful in terms of mitigating damage I take and the amount of damage I can dish out.

    Mynx Map?

Where in the heck is the "Mynx" map? It's the basic outdoor city map where you run up one side, fight the boss/AV, and run down the other side. I've been looking for over an hour now.

    Thanks peeps.
  18. Levels 1-8

I've been fumbling around these forums for the past few weeks reading builds and guides and trying to find a new toon that I could play until 50 (and possibly retire from the game). I may have finally settled on something difficult that requires patience and strategy: Trick Arrow/Archery Defender. I have created The Silk Fletcher on Virtue, and for the sake of posterity (and that I like the sound of my typed-voice) I am chronicling her ascent. The build intrigued me because of the 7 AoE debuffing primaries and 3 AoE secondaries. That and Hawkeye was one of my favorite supers growing up. I didn't make a Mids' build yet (at least not all the way to 50) because the final product is usually nothing like the building process. When I do make one, I'll post it.

I chose Flash Arrow out of the gate because of its ToHit Debuff; this may be a strong power later on; it looks promising. We're saddled with Snap Shot and it's not terrible (very fast recharge rate), but the damage is pitiful.

Level 4 I picked up Aimed Shot to add another Archery attack to the mix. I should note that I am rocking Sands of Mu, Nemesis Staff, and Blackwand as well. Thank you Veteran Rewards!

At level 6 I picked up Glue Arrow, which is awesome. Slows down everybody you're gonna fight solo and reduces their recharge rate too. It too has a slow recharge rate, so I'll have to slot that up in the future. I've got two level 10 recharge IOs in it as of this writing.

I passed, again, on the Power Pools at level 8 and went with Poison Gas Arrow. I've had the chance to use it twice since this post and I LOVE IT! I can begin to see how this toon will really help a team of anywhere from 2 to 8 players. A scrapper plus Silk Fletcher would run well.

I'll keep you posted as she climbs.

    Backpack Idea(s)

Quivers - absolutely quivers. They could be located on the back or hang from the belt. I was shocked when archery was released (years ago) and they didn't include the quivers.

Depending on whether you always loved sending nogoodniks flying with your furious feet or whether it always drove you crazy how erratic crane kick's kb was, you might consider swapping the two.
I just looked at this on Mids' and Cobra Strike, which I loved, is base 134.9 smashing damage, Crane Kick is 134.9 smashing damage; i.e. EXACTLY THE SAME! What? That's nuts and AWESOME! I will add CS back into the rotation - it's an awesome power while soloing. Stun an Lt. wipe out the rest, etc.

I was unaware of this. Thank you!

If you want to get as much recharge as possible you'll have to get some purples and luck of the gambler: +recharge IOs. If you don't want to delve into purples yet, you can have a decent mix of defense and recharge. Just take a look at what I did with the km/regen build i posted earlier in the thread and use it as a base for your build.

Or try this one I threw together. I don't think the accuracy of the attacks is high enough for +4 enemies, but you could remedy that with the Nerve alpha.
Thanks for the builds - I missed the first one - I'll study these ASAP. When you reference purples do you mean Defense inspirations or purple IO sets (ultra-super-extra rare)?

Thanks to everyone who replied for their patience. Trying to teach an old dog new tricks...

My goal is to get as much recharge as possible then buff up the defense.

When you say set bonus, and in my case I'm talking about recharge, is it the same AMOUNT of the bonus (5% for example) or ALL BONUSES of the same type (5%, 1.5%, ect.)?

    Thanks.

[edit] I don't think I was very clear. So if I have seven 5% bonuses, do only the first 5 count = 25%, or is it all of the same type of bonus regardless of its percentage? Example: 3 at 5%, 2 at 2%, and 2 at 1.5%. It would only take the first 5 completed sets (5% + 5% + 5% + 2% + 2% = 19%). [/edit]
  23. I was working on placing IO sets based on the info/advice given above and I'm running into a problem with exceeding "the 5 bonus cap" and I don't understand it. It's telling me that the 5% recharge time from Red Fortune (Weave), Obliteration (Dragon's Tail), and Regenerative Tissue (Instant Healing) are not being counted. That's a whopping 15% I was counting on.

Can someone shed some light on this for me?
