    He had his hopes... His dreams...
    But all that changed for the worst...

    This story is one of despair, a complete and thorough glance into the soul, if that's what you'd call it, of a vengeful man. His life is carefully concealed within the shadows, each footstep carefully selected as to cause no sign of life. His name is Sancta Nox...

    Alexander was rich, or rather his family was. He was also a baseborn, his father left his mother shortly after his birth, or so he had always been told. He had a father figure though, a man his mother married shortly after his birth and to him, this was dad. His adopted father’s name was Giovanni Slade, a powerful business man whom, for the most part led an honest life. Now, to be told, this in itself was quite an accomplishment, few major business leader’s make it to the top without cutting a few ties, so to speak. He was well known all throughout the thriving metropolis of Paragon as a Philanthropist. His mother, Virginia Slade, was loving, and tended to the family’s needs, putting their well being before everything else. Alexander also had one younger brother, Danny. Danny idolized Alexander, and Alexander loved Danny. He took him along everywhere, and protected him under any circumstance. Everything was perfect… But, as the old Chinese proverb goes, “Gold cannot be pure, and people cannot be perfect.” And so all this was bound to change.

    ::FADE IN ON A FAMILY PARTY, PEOPLE OF ALL WALKS OF LIFE TEETHING THROUGHOUT THE SLADE FAMILY MANSION. IT IS A WEEK AFTER ALEXANDER’S 23RD BIRTHDAY AND THE WHOLE FAMILY IS HERE SAVE ONE. LITTLE DANNY SLADE, ONLY 16, HAS BEEN DRIFTING FURTHER AND FURTHER INTO HIS OWN LIFE SINCE ALEXANDER’S INCORPORATION INTO THE FAMILY BUSINESS, AND HAS THIS NIGHT OPTED TO BE WITH HIS FRIENDS. THIS PARTY IS NOT WITHOUT REASON, TONIGHT THEY CELEBRATE ALEXANDER’S ENGAGEMENT TO STARLET DEBBIE GRAY, A BUDDING ACTRESS AND CHILDHOOD FRIEND OF ALEXANDER’S. THE PARTY IS INTERRUPTED BY A DEAFENING KNOCK AT THE DOOR. ALEXANDER MOVES TO GREET HIS UNEXPECTED GUESTS::

    **Alexander swings the door open gaily and extends his arms openly as he shouts welcome, a glance towards its trespassers though quickly changes his jubilance into question though as he is confronted by two officers**

    Is there anything I can do for you officers?

    **They glance uncomfortably at each other and the younger of the two begins to stumble out with the words.**
    Is… it possible we could see you and your parents alone? We have a… something has happened.

    **Giovanni quickly steps up from behind and ushers himself, Virginia, and Alexander out the door. A hush falls over the party and for what seems like an eternity no one breathes. And then, in an instant, the silence is shattered by a primal scream of sorrow**

    Danny had died… He was driving home from the party with his friends when he fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road crashing his vehicle into a median. His car erupted into flames almost immediately and although he was hardly burnt at all, he died from an excessive inhalation of smoke long before help ever arrived. Alexander was devastated, and confused. The coroners report returned Danny had been under the influence of tranquilizers that evening. Not understanding why his brother would ever do this, he went in search of answers. It didn’t take long for him to find Danny’s friends. Kid’s like that aren’t exactly the quietest bunch around, to say the least. They told him it was Danny’s first time; they had all decided to try X together, at least that’s what the kids were calling it. Scientifically it is known as methylenedioxymethamphetamine and has far different side effects than those suffered by his brother, and after careful detective work he discovered all the kid’s suffered the same effects, the rest of them were lucky enough to be in a safe place when it kicked in though. His first instinct had been to destroy these punks’ lives and make them understand just what it was they had done. But, he decided that ruining the lives of these kids would not change a thing, the only way to get rid of the weeds is to discover the root. Besides, these kids could have ended up the same… They were just the lucky ones.

    Alexander returned home. He trudged slowly up the steps and barely noticed the door slightly ajar. Slowly he opened it and glanced around its edge to see everything as it should be. But, there was an eerie calm about the place, a silence to thick to be natural. He walked inside and glanced about the place cautiously, and then suddenly he heard a cough. Instinctively, as he knew something was amiss he darted to his father’s study where the sound originated and found his father sitting at his desk clutching his chest, which was oozing blood rapidly.

    **Through spits of blood and cough, his father told him of the events that had passed that evening while he was away. His father, rather indirectly as a result of his connections and power, had discovered all that he had, and more. His father had discovered the source of what the children had taken that night and had his men bring him here, determined for revenge. But something went wrong, and they had been followed. And in an instant the tables had turned on him when this villains thugs broke in and shot Giovanni, and Virginia**

    Alexander ran to his mother’s room and found her face down in a pool of blood at her Vanity, brush fallen to the floor. He fell to his knees and wept and this is how the police found him.

    They had taken his brother, murdered his father in cold blood, and shot his mother in the back of the head. In less than a week’s time he had lost all that he loved, with the exception of one thing, his fiancé. But, however, the habit of shedding blood, or even of seeing it shed, corrupts all sentiment of humanity. And by this time, he had little humanity left. He had become more of a machine than man in the ravaging of his emotions. And he had already decided he would show no mercy for this beast, as there was none in him left to show. Haunted by something he had once read “My doctrine is this, that if we see cruelty or wrong that we have the power to stop, and do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt.”, he left it all behind, the family corporation would remain his possession, but be run by its board; His estate left dormant; and his fiancé would soon find a dear Jane letter tucked squarely away in her dash. And so, he started off on a great journey into the darkest lands of Europe to train himself to be the avenger that he must now become. He took upon this life of solitude, a self imposed punishment on his soul for not saving the ones dearest to him. And no one tried to follow him, after all, some people are meant to be alone.
