Well, BS/SR does have Parry, so there you go. I'm not surprised you were doing well. Try Claws/SR or Spines/SR for example and you might find your damage mitigation to be a whole lot lower.

I.e., the point isn't as much that SR is too weak or too strong as such, but that with BS or Katana it can be uber, with DM you end up using Siphon Life as part of your normal attack chain, and with the other 3 it's actually pretty gimped in PvE. That's really the imbalance there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm. Can't say I feel that my Claws/SR scrapper is particularly gimped, at least not for soloing. Sure, now and then I have to pause a little to let that green bar fill up, but not that often. In addition, Quickness coupled with the best status protection in the game ensures that I can practically always get out of Dodge if I get in over my head. (And Elude ensures I can get into Dodge when I want to.)

If you happen to also know about Marvel's Ultimate and 616 universes, that is. All food for thought. As for those details, I'm sure some kind of schedule can be arranged.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Aww. No Galaxy Girl 1602?
  3. I won't be able to be there tonight. Still stuck at work.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
And that's what big sticks are for, big sticks which aren't availble in CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're thinking of @-shaped sticks, right?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
I don't think you're getting the point. The point isn't what was said, the point is what was implied. What was implied was that the developers don't take the game seriously anymore.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you're overstating your case. It's just a single line of dialogue, after all, and to take it as isolated evidence of the developers not taking the game seriously seems entirely exaggerated. For all we know, it might just be the result of a "Monday morning brain short-circuit" that nobody caught.

Besides, wouldn't it be dreadfully dull if the developers took the game entirely serious? To quote Piet Hein "They who just see jokes as jokes and grave things only gravely, he or she has understood both the issues badly." (Hmmm. That sounded better in the original Danish. Ah well, I'm sure you see the point.)
  6. [ QUOTE ]
What I DID find hard to ignore though was yesterday in Kings Row, when I came across THREE Paladins in a group...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Roland, Oliver and Holger the Dane, perhaps?
  7. Villainy in ten minutes. Meeting place tonight is the base, and not the island off Darwin. /tell Greenbuck or Shadow Whisper for a /team or supergroup invite if you can't get in.
  8. The Zig is slightly less secure than Arkham Asylum.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Who is Mr. Pardus?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mr. Panthera Pardus, who seems forever stuck with his spots.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
So is my spot gone or what?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your spot is still there, Mr. Pardus.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Any room left in the Crew?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm afraid not, but there's been enough people asking that questionn for organising a similar group / meet up.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
You have ample recharge from quickness with the generally low recharging claws set. The overall end usage of the build in fight is alot more than it could be. Instead of recharges in attacks you can have end reduxes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I find it useful to slot Focus with a recharge reduction, to "knockdown-hold" many bosses tightly enough that they can't get in any counter-attacks (unless you miss once first.)
  13. Leif Roar, Diamondskin, Richard "Rooster" ... Errr, something.

On another note, I doubt I'll be able to make it tonight.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Right, another week of villainousness complete... What's going to be the level cap? Bearing in mind there are people now at 10...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd say level 13 (if only to keep half the team from having traveling powers while the other team still on sprint.)

On a related note, I suggest the meeting place for next Monday is the SG base rather than the isle off Darwin. It gets a little annoying running back and forth.
  15. Maybe I've spent too much time on skeptic web-forums, but my first thought was "Hmm. No description of how subjects were selected. I wonder how large the bias due to self-selection is?"
  16. [ QUOTE ]
However, when the effect of elude runs out, it leaves you completely out of endurance for a short while, and nothing short of using an endurance inspiration will give you any endurance during that time, so Elude is generally only used when things get hairy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my opinion, elude is best used pro-actively to prevent things from getting hairy in the first place. I'd say that thinking of it as a "panic button" is less than optimal. You don't want to waste the up-time of the power running away and resting; you want to use every second of it (except the last few) fighting.

When soloing, I will usually hit elude as soon as I find the first group in the mission, as it'll almost always be up again in time for any boss fight at the end.

'course, I'm a tourist, not a power gamer, so don't take my words as gospel.
  17. Yesterday was fun. About half showed up in the end, so for a short while we was a full team.

We started with people doubtfully accepting an Arachnos into the search for bits of paper with pictures of dead presidents on them, perhaps mostly because everybody was a little queasy about the alternative (which was Wax, thus the queasiness.)

We then went to Port Oakes and did some newspaper missions; mostly beating up goldbrickers. Greenbuck died a lot. (Aggro management? You mean it's actually possible to _manage_ aggro?)

People dropped by along the way for RL and I7 reasons, leaving just Touchdown, Rika, Scrub r bot and Greenbuck to hit the Paragon National bank in, well, Paragon. (Mayhem mission huzzah!) We beat our way to the bank, got the loot, defeated the hero, made our getaway and caused various forms of property damage along the way. Oh, and Greenbuck got himself killed again blowing up a car.

On other notes, we got the SG setup, and I've assigned everyone rights to do base editing. If someone wants to step forward and take charge of decorating the place, do step forward. I don't think Greenbuck's idea of plastering the walls with dollar bills would suit everyone.

    Teenage heroes

    [ QUOTE ]
I could get the logs out, if you like, and tell you exactly how many people were left...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would be fun. It's always interesting to calibrate fuzzy memories against hard evidence.

    Teenage heroes

    [ QUOTE ]
Nope. When the RG left to go to their rooftop, there was nothing left at all since about 90% of the regulars had created teens so that they'd have someone to talk to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't recall anything as dramatic as all that, although things certainly got quieter at GG for a little while. 'Course, I'm a lobster, so what do I know?

    Teenage heroes

    [ QUOTE ]
You didn't, but others did. There was a period when being in the Rooftop Generation was "the in thing" and everyone started creating teens... except me and one or two others. This was the first case I can think of where GG was "going to fall apart due to a clique."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't really involved with any of the Rooftop Generation, but from what I recall it was more of a fad than a clique. Teenage heroes wasn't so much the "in thing" as it was the "interesting idea" everybody wanted to try their hand at. These kind of fads happen in RPs. This day it's teenagers, the next it's lesbian catgirls.

I also seem to recall, albeit vaguely, that part of the reason why the Rooftop generation found their rooftop was that GG was getting awfully busy , with the teenage angst threatening to drown out other plots and character interaction. (Partly because some of the teenage characters were very talkative.) The people who actually went rooftopping would know better than me, though.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe I've got this wrong but there are only 7 people listed in Team Silver; I'm sure Jediand would be welcome in that team, no?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, the thing is that instead of filling two full teams (16 characters), we aimed at filling three tiers of all the archetypes (15 characters.)
  22. I might be there, depending on how quickly I can get my work done (which, in turn, depends on how much time I waste on the forums.)
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Wot time we startin' our pillagin' t'night, boss? ;-)

Edit: should have been for Leif

    [/ QUOTE ]

The same time we start every night, Aisla. Try to take over the... Err... I mean 7:30pm, BST.
  24. Okay. Level caps for next Monday. Yesterday brought about half the gang to level ~7. I'd suggest level cap of 12 for next Monday, but since there were several absences I think we should aim for ~ level 10 instead to try and keep the level-gap narrow.

Oh, if anyone wants to redo their characters now that I7 is kitten-safe, go right ahead.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Can I ask what the level-cap for tonight was again?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think we said "no higher than level four." As for the cap for next Monady, let's see how high the teams get tonight.
