Let me break this down. When GR hits, there will be three Cities: Paragon City, Rogue Isles, and Praetoria.

Paragon is Hero only, RI is Villain only, and Praetoria is accessible to everyone who owns the Going Rogue expansion. While in Praetoria, you can do stuff that will affect your alignment. If a Hero does enough Bad stuff, he will lose access to Paragon City and only be able to access the Rogue Isles. The same goes for a Villain with the locations reversed, obviously.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I added an important detail to your post.

I'm pretty sure this is the way they will do it. Alignment adjusting stuff will have to be confined to Praetoria (which would only be accessible to those who owned the expansion), otherwise anyone could switch sides.

This would mean, though, that anything you do as a character in Paragon City is de facto heroic and good, and anything you do in the Rogue Isles is the opposite. They're alignment capitals, I suppose.

Aw, it won't be the REAL Blue Side, it will be the Praetorian Earth Blue Side

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where are people getting this idea from?

It seems pretty straightforward to me that you can go FROM redside TO blueside VIA Praetoria.

People who don't have the expansion won't be able to get into Praetoria, which is presumably where the alignment shifting stuff happens - missions that can go either way, with a goodie or a baddie ending, for example. But once you've shifted over all the way into being a hero or villain, you'll be able to get into Paragon City or the Rogue Isles.

Saw this mentioned.. what does it mean?

    • Players that have abused the reward system egregiously may lose benefits they have gained - leading up to and perhaps including losing access to the characters power-leveled in this fashion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Posi, can we please have a clear definition of 'abuse' here?

Are you saying powerlevelling with the MA is abuse regardless of whether it's done with exploits?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    1) Posi may have been using the word "farmers" to refer to people using exploits or breaking rules, not the way I and others use that word (someone who has a playstyle of seeking better reward rates, usually without exploits or breaking rules.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    More Posi:

Players have undoubtedly noticed an increase in patches since Issue 14 launched, and a lot of these have been to address farming concerns.

    I think you're right, though.

I know she's listed as a "Pet" in the "choose an enemy group" list. Does that help?

At least she's in there somewhere! Thanks!
  10. Here's me wanting to make an arc about heroes going off to England, and Lady Jane doesn't seem to be listed among the available contacts. Is this just me being useless or is she genuinely not there?

  13. It seems a lot of people don't know how the Ticket Bonus works in MA arcs. Synapse told us some very useful stuff back in Beta:

When you complete a MA mission, you get a bonus equal to the number of tickets you earned in the mission (plus modifiers). If you defeated loads of bad guys, you'll get a big bonus. If you didn't defeat any, you won't get any bonus.

So, every time you see the message flash up that you earned 14 tickets (or whatever), just bear in mind that if you finish the mission, you will earn those 14 tickets AGAIN.

Obvious Conclusion: the way to get lots of tickets from MA arcs is to defeat everything on the map before finishing the mission.

But wait! There's more. The ticket bonus is subject to a bonus multiplier. And the further along in the arc you are, the bigger the bonus multiplier gets.

    Mission 1: x1.0
    Mission 2: x1.05
    Mission 3: x1.1
    Mission 4: x1.15
    Mission 5: x1.2

Obvious Conclusion: To get the hugest ticket bonus possible, defeat everything on the map in Mission 5 of a 5 mission arc before finishing the mission.

But wait! There's even more. The Architect day job ALSO adds a multiplier to the ticket bonus. Architect adds 5%, and Experienced Architect adds 10%.

You can find all of this information conveniently summed up here.

Having a "Would you like your fortune told?" pop-up with "yes or no" would be better. That way you can only take the risk voluntarily.

I'm sure that's how they've done it. Look at the wording:

  16. While we were talking on Test about this, the idea came up of writing for different villainous mindsets. Personally, I don't want to assume that all villains want to rob banks any more than they all want to rule the world, or all want to go on crazed killing sprees, or all want to promote evil for its own sake, or all want to get riches by any means they can.

Talking to Twoflower about taxonomy (see above!) I thought up a set of 'villain mindsets' based on what kind of villain the arc was written for.

Overlord: Doctor Doom, Lord Recluse, and so on. The villain already controls some property, whether it's a base or an entire nation, and intends to keep it under his/her iron fist. Opportunities include annexing other countries, recruiting strong henchmen, stealing technology, and stamping down rebellion. Threats include invasions from other countries, assassination attempts, insurrection, heroes trying to 'liberate' your political prisoners, and spies trying to sabotage your equipment.

Crazy: The villain is seriously and colourfully deranged (Joker, Harley Quinn). They are a villain because their twisted worldview allows them to be. Opportunities include bamboozling the police, kidnapping people, driving heroes insane with gadgets or chemicals, pulling off ridiculous stunts and generally sowing chaos. Threats include armoured hunters from the local asylum, vigilantes, grieving relatives, and other villains who think you're ruining things for them.

Acquisitor: The villain is motivated by cold hard cash. They put what scruples they have to one side if there is money involved. This is the classic CoV villain, robbing banks and being a hired thug if necessary.

Beast: (werewolf and vampire characters, aliens, predators and so on) Unlike the Crazy, the villain is sane, but it's an inhuman kind of sanity. The Beast sees humans as prey, or as a lower form of life. He/she sees human morals as irrelevant, any which way. Opportunities for a Beast would include taking on powerful rivals, finding a suitable mate (Species anyone?), protecting the lair, or a basic drive to find food. Threats would be from hunters, government agencies, scientists trying to use the Beast's genes, rival Beasts, and so on.

Malfaisant: The villain practices evil as a philosophy, evil for evil's sake. They do evil deeds not for any material reward but because they enjoy seeing evil done and good humiliated. A Malfaisant would likely be most interested in the opportunity to corrupt a force for good rather than destroy it.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
What are some other setups that you can think of which allow a villain to truly be their own person, within the framework of MA?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, there's one classic villainous arc that is present only once in all of the CoV stories: the corruption of the pure and good character. (Peter Themari gives it.)

A villain could have any number of reasons for seducing someone to the Dark Side. They could be doing it for revenge, to neutralise a threat, to gain power for themselves, or just for the sheer joy of tainting.

New issue, new costume bugs. I fixed the ones I could between issues 12-13. One bug that has bothered everyone was VEAT female and their lovely butt cape. Well it has been added, sound the trumpets.

Do you need to have capes unlocked to get them? My Widow is buttcapeless.

Doing what pohsyb said will make an empty map. The patrols and battles will use up the spawn points that the normally spawned enemies would use.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And NOW I get it. Thankyou both.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Lets pretend you picked a map with 15 of the first type and 15 of the second type. If you wanted it to be empty until your trap is hatched, you could add a patrol detail with quantity 15 and and a battle detail with quantity 15. Next, add a collection detail and have both the patrol and battle trigger on completion of the collection.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, but how do you make the map empty in the first place? You have to pick an enemy group to populate the map, right?

(I used to use the 'custom villain group with only an AV in it' trick, but I had thought that stopped working)
  21. Might be worth pointing out here that 'Front, Middle and Back' do not apply on outdoor maps.

The 'front', 'middle' and 'back' of a mission map are determined by reference to rooms, and an outdoor map is one big room. This is why objective placement on outdoor maps sometimes seems screwy.

You need Hamidon Goo to make a teleporter? What!?!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yep
    read this

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you do NOT. Please don't disseminate misinformation.

The telepad recipes are as follows:

Clockwork Winder, Temporal Sands, Simple Chemical, Psionic Manifestation

    OR

Alchemical Silver, Symbol, Inert Gas, Black Blood of the Earth

    OR

    Ruby, Destiny, Silver, Hamidon Goo

There are three ways to build one. You only need Hamidon Goo if you're going for the third recipe.

Now, why on earth anyone would ever WANT to do that, I don't know, but there it is.

Being the target of an attack: 2s

    [/ QUOTE ]

Castle, can you elaborate on this please? Does this mean if I'm the target of a PvP attack, my movement suppresses whether I'm hit or not? Or does it suppress only if I'm hit? Or what happens?

I hope I've read this wrong!
