Cool, glad you like it, at BAS's request I've added a link to the drawing, so people can download it to practice on. I know you have PSE 6.0, but the buttons look the same... good luck!

I was thinking we name a bunch of our favorite artists and use them as our basis...

And I suspect tons of great Scoop material... how convenient? Dirt's never here... and Juggy appears suddenly at the last moment? Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Naugh, that's crazy... -
Yes saint's trip is a worthy cause, and the art is a nice benefit!
-
Tomorrow, first thing I promise, I will splice together that tute... and thank you for the high praise!

I believe I am guilty of starting this negative band wagon, I apologize to Snow (and have done so privately at length) for slapping him down, when all he was looking for was some enthusiasm...
Please forgive my haste, and my misinterpretation of your tone.
Marcian on the other hand, I will be drawing in a tutu...

Ah now that's an idea, using a famous painting sounds cool...
I think because your idea was so broad, that it was almost too open ended. Keep at it if you want more participation... okay I'll shut up now. -
If you count the actual votes on the suggestion, you only have 4 Nos, yourself and another on the Yes side, and perhaps 3 on the fence. That's hardly overwhelming opposition... if you believe in this idea, then plot it out, nurture it and see what happens.
I really don't mean to beat you down, I have nothing to gain by it, so I apologize if anything I've said has disheartened you... I just didn't like your argument of students being more capable, but that is neither here nor there...
As to rising to the challenge, if you continue with this I will put in an entry. -
Yeah I don't mind doing your job for you, you're welcome....

While I appreciate the majority of Art History, having attended both an Arts high school and an Arts college, and being certified to teach Art for grades K-12... I am naturally in no immediate rush to relive my "first year post secondary school" days on a game board, which I use mostly for recreation.
But that's just me, don't let me discourage you, or anyone else enthusiastic enough to try this with their free time. Something I don't have to spare...
I too had this assignment in college in my painting class, every week it was another self portrait in another style. It's a great way of opening someone up to the subtleties of different art periods, but since I no longer require a grade... I wish you luck in both cases...
And come to think of it, I did apply this to a recent commission last June, ( Vars Impavada ) so I can wait till the next theme...
I don't mean to offend you Snow, it's a decent idea, which will need a lot of coaxing. You'll need to provide some moderately comprehensive links, and I expect the first round of posts will require refining... Here are 2 links I found thru wiki:
Artist by Movement: Art Noveau
Art Noveau World Wide
My advice would be to peruse an artist of the period you enjoy, choose your materials according to what you're comfortable with, not just what they used... unless you wish to emulate it as close as possible.
As to relating it to COH, there's the usual approach: a portrait, full figure, action shot, or sculpture if you have the materials.

Not to rain on your parade, but you're talking some extreme art themes applied to a comic format... I have no desire to see or make cubist heroes, and I can't imagine people wanting to do the same. BUT, I could be very wrong, I wish you luck on this...
My point however is that it's one thing to do a classic comic look of Positron now, and it's another thing to say make it look like Van Gogh drew him or Da Vinci... this is a very talented forum, but I must say with all due respect, you're asking a lot of us.
Submitting art to the Scoop is great exposure, and also an honor, but under these terms I'm not sure the effort is worth the gain. But as I said I could be wrong. Graver I'm sure could pull this off, if he had the time. I too believe it's in me, though the desire not so much.
A theme is one thing, draw heroic Valentines, or villainous Easter eggs... but Pointilism? Thank you no.

I believe you're also not eligible for voting... though I don't see the point of an entry, if he is immune, he could put up a dot and be safe. Doesn't immunity grant you a free month? I mean sure he could still put up something great, and it would only be to his credit, but it can't be voted upon, or else it would take votes from other people to get immunity.
Or can one get continual immunity?

Dude. how the hell do you make art that looks like that? Is that computer stuff or freehand paints or what? And how did you nail all the costume parts? Unreal.

I have a short overview of how I work on my website. Check out this tutorial of a piece I did for Brandon McKinney; ---> LINK

Amazing Tutorial Doug, my favorite part is where you say,
"... well I started to paint... and 2 hours later I was happy..."
You left out the part where the heavens opened up and the left hand of Zeus imparted greatness upon you! Stunning work!! -
Steppin up your game I see... you must be "in it to win it" as they say... nice ly done sir!

This was done as a gift for SG mate Nymeria's hubby... who won a short lived contest to rename my MM.
It also reflects my current style, sketch & inks took a day, and color another...
Hope he likes it!

Thanks Warface, I haven't forgotten you btw, I'll work up your tutorial this weekend!

Thanks TA! I sent you that info in your journal comments...
And yes D, I sleep.. somewhere between 2am - 9am... I like to putter around till noon, then work until 8 or 9pm. Sometimes I do late night sketches, or early morning speed pieces, but the weird thing is if I actually am so tired I have to nap for an hour in the middle of the day, that nap is more refreshing than 7 hours of regular sleep. Go figure? -
No worries Turboski, like my information says, my queue is open indefintiely... and I believe you know where to reach me! Thank you D for being first! Gonna work on yours soon as I wake up tomorrow...
