    WIP for Desmodos

    Tentative to client approval...

You said you wanted an action shot. I could also do the two of them in a "romantic" embrace... up to you, but let me know asap.

  2. Nice take, I think you caught the emotion.

I know! I want to crack their skulls and feast on the left side of their brains... ugh I mean I wish I was younger... Yeah! That's it.

Sorry, not one of her, just a speed paint test for " the Villain" in the forth coming piece...

though I did do a test for her face... here.

Until I realized Des would most likely prefer a different actress for the final,
so I'm gonna have to sketch up Monica Belluci...

Man! My work is tough on the eyes, oh well whatever the client wants...

    Guess Who?

    Yup...

There are other brands on the market, but these are the industry standard, in both comic coloring, game design, films, you name it.

    Surprise Art!

Hmmm I never saw that outfit, I thought you were all leather jacket, and string boots?

    Guess Who?

you can buy a standard one 4x6 work space, though it conforms to your screen measurements... for under $80, used for less naturally. The better ones run over $250-330, and the disgusting monitor ones are over a grand.

Wacom is an electronic pressure sensitive tablet which comes with a pen stylus for drawing. Way more control then a mouse... the more expensive ones are like monitors, and can be drawn on with the stylus like a traditional painter would work, only everything is digital.

    Screenies

And if you ever wish to request free art, it helps to put a screenie in your thread, signature... followed by profuse begging, buttering up and sincere but well written sucking up!
  12. I'll cast my vote for Anubis Psy - EnnVee.

Wow! I never knew your collection was sooooo HUGE!!! Almost makes TA's look empty...
  16. If you feel that using this program is worth it to you, and how you wish to define your work. That is your choice. All I can say is why? Why work so long on 3D modeling a 2D image you say you can do faster? Is the 3D better than your 2D work? Do you like the look more, if so, again that is your choice. You asked for a critique, I based the critique on the coloring methods I know. If you want a critique on 3D modeling, I have no basis of comparison. Maybe Doug could chime in...
  17. Yay Liz posted the Craig Mullins link... I lost mine on my old hard drive, and was hating the thought of searching for him, since I forgot his last name... thankyouthankyouthankyou!!! :0

Tarty: think of it this way, if you had the proper skill and didn't need to use any effects or filters in order to achieve what you envision in your head... wouldn't you be more proud of "that" work then the stuff you did with just filters and effects. I understand the immediacy of wanting to see a finished colored piece... I did tons of this stuff, before knowing anything close to what I do now... I can't even look at that work without shaking my head. The people in this forum were very kind, and no... no one told me to stop using them. But none of that work was what I truly wanted to achieve, it was just work I could only achieve, without knowing better or trying to get better...

All I'm really saying is, strive to be better, it's worth it to your work.

..its layered up 3ds objects overlayed on 2d image with texture mapping and lighting.. pretty much what you can do with photoshops " import 3d to new layer" option.. but with more control and better tools..

    [/ QUOTE ]

My point is, using it doesn't help you to learn to draw. It's not drawing or painting, it's filtering. Layering with little to no brushwork. An effect. Effects are great for emphasis of tiny details, the glint off a gun, the spark of star, the textured rust on metal... However if the effect dominates more than 60% of your image, which here it does... all you see is the effect, not the art, or the skill.

In Doug Schuler's case, 3D models are used for composition and blocking in... but the textures, the expressions, the color, the nuances are all his expertise with photoshop "paint". His effect use is minimal or so well integrated you don't notice them over the figure... or on the figures themselves.

Suichiro is a genius among men...

  19. Get out of this thread ya instigator, fore I draw you in a tutu...
