I've decided to make a 9 x 12 foot shower mural of TA & AT fighting every known hero in the Marvel universe.
You may think that's not large enough, but TA & AT will be life size, and all the Marvels will be drawn chibi style on 3 x 3 tiles surrounding them, like Gulliver's Travels.

No offense, but do you do this all day? You're like an art locomotive.

If you look at the gallery and analyze the earliar pieces, you can see just how much steam I'm building. I think all creative bursts pick up speed, and like a lucky streak, you shouldn't mess with it if it ain't broke... Sooner or later your mind wanders to another endeavor, and frankly I'm not sure I'll be playing COH for more than another month... Without a paid subscription, you can't post on here, so I'm trying to get as much done, as the inspiration hits me...
So yeah the answer to your question is yes I do. -
Question, what happens if you write someone a pm who's message box is full, does it evaporate, or do they get it if they clear some space?
This is to say, ROWR, empty your box!!! please please please... you're next after Mar Dun. -
Kept loosing my internet connection tonight, so while I waited I started Mar Dun, hope you like it... for some reason I wasn't happy with the first sketch, so I did a second one... you've got time to choose, since tomorrow I color Migrayne first. Let me know here.

See something this good makes me wish they had let us play the actual villain types from COH. Nice work!
-
Okay good news first, here's the sketch, I plan on the background being very dark so the flames and the glow will be a big effect. Here's the bad news... I'm posting all the color work from now on, on Deviant, which is down at the moment. So by and when I finish this, and you seeing it, is up to them...
Hope you like it.
LJ
(my wife likes this one the best, and I'm hoping to making it work from what I picture in my head, but if anyone wants a crack at coloring it before me, feel free. See this is what happens when I take the time to draw off my rinkydink 4 x 5 tablet and on real paper first... bad LJ bad... gotta stop being lazy) -
Cool, I was seconds from pming it to you... apologies for the unpolished look. I'm forcing myself to work when I can, and unfortunately my habits aren't perfect yet. Look for a polish of both your toons in about a month or so, I plan on drawing some of the earliar ones again...
thanks again.

My wife said to thank you all, she read the thread and was very happy. Thanks people!
LJ -
Thanks Mardun, you just got bumped for the first comment in 86 views
, after Migrayne, you're next!
edit: no offense to anyone... -
oh duh Fyrecracker... you're on my list, unfortunately you're waaay at the back, but I've made a note:
"draw fyrecracker looking at opposite hand thinking about MM" -
She uses Illustrator CS 2, you can check out her work at istock.com, it's a great site for vector art. And yes she redrew a lot, which is why I really like her take on it. Last night she kept asking my permission to change things, and I said, yeah yeah sure sure... little did I know!
-
Sorry just felt like posting this faerie drawing, cause I'm so darn proud of it...
On the left is my black & white ink drawing I did months ago for my wife Diane... She was gonna watercolor it and sell it on Ebay, but now she makes vector art out of my sketches, and sells it that way.
So again, not my finish, all hers... I said go to town honey, and she did, I think it came out pretty frickin cool!. Fun to see your work finished by someone else. Okay back to your regularly scheduled hero art...
LJ -
Couldn't resist doing both, since initially you gave me the choice weeks ago... hope you like one of them.

lol glad you didn't gush... well looks like I've done my job here... (does the George Reeves out the window exit)
Glad you liked it.

Here you go MM: Mr. Majesty - finished
Man I put this through the grinder, inked it last night, cleaned it up in illustrator/painter this morning, and went to photoshop for the final... this is a slightly dark version, which I think is more powerful, I'll send you the light one too... oh well here.
Hope you like it.

edit: oh and forgot to clear 1 thing up, LJ is a HE, but his toon is a SHE. Though I have to update that info, she hit 50 a year ago... -
Graver:
If I haven't said so before, I'm a big fan of your work... both lyrical and reminiscent of those great childhood picture books we all once owned.
Your style makes me miss working with watercolors, eek gads I have a huge mexican church painting gathering 3 years dust behind my sofa in the living room. I may have to finish it now damn you!
Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to your next one...

Drats, foiled again...
oh well gonna sleep on these, off to play... thanks all for the support, feels great to be hitting my stride again.

Personally? I prefer that you would draw The Imperial, but that's just me.
...
.....
Did I just type that?
Ahem. My bad.
(Go with #2.)

I refuse to be subliminally effected! Nothing, I repeat nothing will ever make me whip up a quick sketch of Mr. Imperial! :P Sorry Mardun, you'll have to wait, but I have added you...
LJ
(damn those fun photoshop thin pencil brushes!!!) -
I see you changed the costume, so before I go to color, which do you prefer, the sketch I sent you previously to tide you over... or this one, which I just did tonight... let me know, gonna watch a movie and come back in 90 minutes for your answer. If not, I pick! muahahahahahaha....
LJ
Mr. Majesty - finished - in case you start reading from page 1 -
Sorry for the obvious diet I gave your character (and even bigger apology to Mr. Majesty, though I swear you are next!) but I was going for that raw feel... This was digitally inked from the faintest mechanical pencil scan I did yesterday.
I know you didn't request a piece, but have always wanted to tackle your toon, no offense intended.

Thank you Crimson, if I haven't mentioned it before... I love your poses, a big inspiration! Starchasm, I'm glad you like it, that was my only goal... this started out as a sketch, but I liked so many of the lines, that I couldn't wait to color it.
The glow is easy, in Photoshop, you use screen at various degrees from 1-100% ofcourse. The Hair I smudged out at 75%, and have to say it's my favorite part.
Here is the Gwen Stefani image I used for the pose. I didn't trace it, just free handed with a seperate window next to it... as you can see I adjusted certain areas.
Usually I like to do a b&w sketch first, put a layer on multpily above that and paint bucket a "mood" color over the whole thing. And then build up colors and effect over that. If my black lines need emphasis I do it on the original area as to not effect the color.
In this case I did flatten it all about 3/4 way through, because I wanted the face to stand out more. That's up to you... No offense to the others, but I think this has been my favorite one to do, which means I'm warming up for TA!
LJ
PS: hey thanks for adding me to your friends list Star! -
I guess I should have asked what powers you have, so excuse the artistic license with the depiction... Had a lot of fun doing this one, used a Gwen Stefani pose for inspiration, and it just flowed from there.
Hope you like it Starchasm.

Apologies for the change in the final, trying a new style, and felt this was better than the sketch... I sent you the humongous file, here's one for the forum.

Not to re-rail from the derailment, but I really hate it when artists say 'oh it's fast and loose' but it's like this AMAZING creation!! Sheesh! :P
One day I too will be able to draw fast and loose and have it end up being something remarkable... right now it's just...um... slow and..um... tight... and still sucky. :P
Okay okay *pushes the thread off the tracks again*

Apologies Rowr, but I never was the type to draw clean crisp lines. To me sketching is like chiseling away at the blank page, line upon line, erase, more lines, until I'm close to happy, but in truth never satisfied which is good, because then you strive to get better.
I "can" do crisp and clean, but omg it takes forever and it's agonizing. Which is why I love photoshop, sigh... erasing with no crumbs all over your table, or lead on your hands. Though lately with all the great art here, I've been yearning to pick up my bristol pad and mechanical pencil.
As to the fast and loose comments, it could be worse, I could be the opposite... wait, scratch that... too easy!
edit: duh TA beat me to it... lol
