  1. How about a round robin question spread out among artists and collectors, you could have one question gaged to both and then have say 5 or 7 of us answer it... These should be technical questions, so that the reader gets more out of them, than say an answer to a poll. Here's an example:

Artist Question: How do you go about inking your pieces? What materials do you use, and what do you like or dislike about the process?

Collector's Question: Can you give tips to what you think makes your most popular toon, what it is? What part of their background would you like to see depicted? And what 2 pieces would you say is closest to how you seem them?

These questions could come from the community, kind of like a little press conference..
  2. Unscarfed! Perfect, will change it to that on the final, thanks Empress! And um DB is only wearing leg warmers, shoes and a scarf, so technically she's all nude, all the time...
  3. Not that it's really NSFW, just thought I'd include that in case someone suggested it if I didn't include that...

Anyway... this is a color test for an upcoming piece showcasing my new mock magazine cover. Something along with my recent Classic Comic Cover, I will be offering for new commissions, well after my queue of 10 is finally finished... currently between numbers 7 and 8.

Scarfgirl graciously allowed me to use Dragonberry for this test, and this is a tease, as the final will be two pieces, a wall paper with the full figure and no type, and then the cropped one with type.

Here's a 30 minute colored version of the cropped piece. The actual ink is finished, but I'm not ready to post that yet.

  4. Great stuff... I won't ask for more, cause I know what it's like... you'll get plenty enough of those! Poor [censored]...

I think LadyJudgement was saying something about willing to do Inf payments...don't know if that was just a stray hopeful thought or something he actually wanted to do.

Nope no can do anymore, stricly on a paying basis now, gotta hold up my end of the household you know. Gift art is something I do on occasion, but if I told people when that was, it wouldn't be a surprise. Good luck to you though... Susie, I'm sure you'll get another piece someday. Your toon has a GREAT concept, congrats on the Drunkfu and McKinney art!!!

  7. Sorry this is a tease until I finish it, but I finished inking tonight, finally after several weeks (those damn commissions held this up bro..) Anyway, figured since I was sketching the 2nd piece for Larissa, and the other two are 50% done stage wise, I had some free time tonight to get back to this... Will definitely try and finish this in the morning.

This is flatted color, will be adding more detail in the end...

Kilo Tease... click below to see the final!

    Graver update!

Sweet, been meaning to do the same, but will have to wait till my queue is done. Congrats Graver!
  9. Hmm don't think I want to get into the habit of asking by email for solicitations... that seems too much like an audition. Shouldn't it be the other way round? I'm confused...
  10. Open Canvas - Wiki explanantion
Open Canvas - free trial / actually shareware...

As for that painting quality, that's the proverbial white whale... I think you have to know how to paint to begin with... not to sound condescending... anyway I've always like this mood painting tutorial by industry concept artist, Jason Manley

    Good luck.
  11. Got the screenshot Sparky! Will definitely spend my morning on it... thanks again!
  12. My deepest apologies Sparky, not sure how I missed that... but please allow me to remedy the situation, send me the screens for any toon of your choice and I will bump you up on my queue tomorrow... again I can't thank you enough for those screens!

  13. Well I hope you like this doodle, you can download the humongous version if you want to color it, or you can wait sadly for my queue to be done, and I'll do it then... Shadow Rush

    LJ
  14. Well I don't think I could find anything better than that... Shadow Rush you ARE a life saver! My gift to you to follow asap...

  15. I got a few today, but no one in plain clothes... I got one of the robots and the psi guys in their new super duds... But whatever's left would be great, and yes to swat guys...
  16. I'm doing a villain fighting the PPD commish, and I just need a few screens of the Paragon Police Dept... Not so much the casual clothing squad, but the ones you see in safe guards and mayhem missions. I'm gonna try and take some of my own, but if anyone has any lying around, I'd really appreciate it.

    Juggy Colossus

Thanks I like your work too! (tried to write that from a Russian to English translation, and all I got on here were numbers... oh well the sentiments the same!)

I'm really impressed! I like it. What did you use to color it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Photoshop

    1) Opened black & white jpg of Colossus.
    2) Set layer to multiply, placed a layer under that for the background color which I made a very under saturated orange.
    3) Placed another layer in between those for separate areas, and made multiple layers subsequently: skin, hair, uniform, boots, bracelets, belt, face, letters...
    4) Each layer is flatted with the pencil tool, then locked for color only.
    5) Then each area is colored using the gradient tool, set on radial gradients for multiply and (shadows), screen (for highlights).
    6) Each layer is also separately colored with a hard brush tool, set at 10-50% opacity, again using either multiply or screen, and sometimes 30% normal.
    7) The flames were smudged at the top, and I used a a chrome filter for the letters, and applied image to screen it, making it brighter.

That's roughly how I do everything. Bet you're glad you asked.
  19. Cue the James Bond theme of your choice...

Explanations on DA, but suffice to say, this is what I've been obsessing over since last Thursday...
