ya never which kitty's gonna loose one of their lives around here...

Sorry just picked up the tute on how to make it so 3D, so I think things are gonna get a lot bloodier from here on out... lol
-
Thank you all, here's a more traditional colorization...
-
Direct Trace version colored in Painter and finished in Photoshop... just playing around with Painter, as it's a program I've had forever, but never gave serious time to cause my pc couldn't handle it. Now it can, so now I am...
If you click the reference, I used Snagit to enlarge my print screen capture 300%, which is why it's so choppy on the edges. But for my tracing purposes, the brush I was using needed a larger image to walk around... this one has more drawing on it that my previous try, as I altered the chest logo, added more hair, and elongated the chin. I also defined the arms a bit more, as well as the legs to make her curvier. Was a fun process... so I may do more as time goes by.

BAS what program are you using specifically? Also what's the make of your scanner... I usually use photoshop to turn a light scan into a cleaner darker one, but sometimes setting the scanner's choice of what your scanning makes a difference in the actual end scan.
That is to say most distinguish what you are scanning as either grayscale, black and white, photo and or color. If you have a light image to begin with your scanner will often lighten it even more. So it's good to use a darker pencil line to begin with... -
I sometimes feel guilty filtering my queue with my warm up pieces, but without them, I find my attention span and inspiration wanes. I think my customers have come to know this, and don't mind that some of these warm up sketches includes them 90% of the time. An aside piece of art in addition to the final, and also an occasional finished piece other than their own gives them another idea of how theirs will turn out.
Apologies for slighting any contest winners, I try to finish every piece with the time it deserves, but rushing your queue to finish any piece over another does a disservice to all of it. -
So for the measurement of hearing the announcement of a contest, standing in line, being chosen, and winning... you equate that with the RL time it takes to make the art? And therefore should stand in line with paying commissions? I disagree. When someone wins a contest I have provided art for, I let them know they are at the bottom of the barrel, an unfortunate reality, but they will eventually get free art for exactly that price.

Yeah it's all from Teruchan's tute, so check that out on DA. As for the drawing, none of it is mine, well maybe 1%, this is a direct trace of a screenshot. In fact I should have fixed the hand, and the way the belt makes her butt look huge!
The screenshot was at 72 dpi, and the tracing brush I was using was way to thick, so not a lot of possibilities for subtlety alas... I just went super fast around the figure so I could get to the coloring. -
First of many sketches to come, in this case mostly a color test for Kai's group piece. This was done just to get a feel for her...

Did this for a couple I recently found on DA... supposedly they met while playing DDO, and being a former humongous D&D table top nut, I had to sketch him.
Myself, I had only played DDO for all of 2 weeks for a free trial, but alas my heart belongs to CoX. Anyway soon after his girl found out, and I offered to include them together. What can I say, I'm a sucker for romance...
Total time about 3 hours total including the sketches, Painter rocks, and while a lot of it is choppy, hey it's free!lol

Gonna be amazing, even more so than it is now...

I think he meant Juggy's piece was great, but not the same thought he had for his toon... but thanks for watching my back Tundy!

Also Smeagol wanted to add:
"It's glove hand has no,*golum, golum* ,thumb my precious! " -
Ha! I thought of that one too... but I'll let WP answer.

I love the black and white version update, think I'm gonna steal that idea with your permission...
Stunning work on this as I said on DA.
